I intially ran this project a while ago, but it kind of lost steam and came to a stop, BUT RECENTLY I decided to redo it all over again. So, what is this? Basically a genderbent dub of Homestuck. John --> Joan, Rose --> Ross, etc.
Check us out at genderstuck.tumblr.com and Let's Read Genderstuck on YouTube.
I will also be posting updates/new videos here!

pls no lmao the concept of genderbending is extremely transphobic dont infect hs with that kind of shit I mean... I don't really agree but I also acknowledge I don't get to decide what's transphobic and what isn't cause I'm not trans. But there's no inherent canon saying that any of these characters are cis in the first place. If you headcanon Dave, for example, as a trans boy, then Dani could be a trans girl (or nb or intersex for that matter regardless of the outward appearance) but I also don't want to imply that girls=long hair, skirts, boobs, and boys=short hair, pants. Anyway this whole thing is just a 'for fun' in regards to character redesign and voice acting and perhaps 'genderbend' is not the correct term but I don't really know what is (cisswap? seen that one floating around) and I really don't want to get into an argument about the ethics of a relatively harmless fan project. Obviously I can't force anyone to agree or watch or whatever but please don't just come to the thread to start an issue with me.

I find it to be quite the contrary. You're just being sensitive, dude, I don't know how you find it to be "transphobic". This is just people having fun, my dude, you don't have to freak out.

I think it's simply due to previous usage of genderbends in media and whatnot that some people find it offensive. Generally, it's only offensive when a character portrays stereotypical actions as the opposite sex, and is portrayed acting like a completely different person. Simply switching the names and appearances slightly of a few characters isn't inherently transphobic. What I'm getting at here is that genderbending isn't really transphobic - but sometimes specific depictions of genderbends are transphobic. For example, the episode Bend Her and Neutopia from Futurama were very transphobic, while Adventure Time's gender bends weren't.
Sorry about going and writing a whole paragraph on the topic, that's pretty short for my usual responses, but so long as this is just for fun, I don't see any real problem with it. My only question is why is it being made? Why is it necessary? If you're going to make something that can potentially create discourse, you should have a good artistic reasoning behind it.

It's not transphobic at all when the whole universe is Genderswapped. Bend Her, I agree, it was transphobic, but with Adventure Time and this very project the whole world is Genderswapped so I don't see why people should freak out. EDIT: I meant transphobic, not homophobic.

Idk, I just like experimenting with character design and voice acting, and really Homestuck will always have a special place in my heart so I wanted to give this a shot. I don't think a project necessarily has to have artistic reasoning. I've always liked dabbling with genderbends and have done dubs of some other stuff genderbent and I just thought this might be kind of cool! No fan project is really necessary but we're having fun with it.
