Everyone: CELEBRATE!!
You get your bearings straight and give yourselves time to fully register that you've won the fight. A quick once-over of the yard tells you that the imps are gone and the cruxtruder and kernelsprite are in tact. Actually, the kernelsprite seems to be higher up in the air than it was before. And... brighter, if you're not mistaken.

Kate: Touch the kernelsprite again, maybe it'll do something this time.
You climb back on top of the Cruxtruder. You need to climb up farther than last time to be able to reach it, but you reach it nonetheless. You discover that along with being brighter, it's also warmer. It turns a cool baby blue when you touch it.
It seems victories in battle can be traded for special moves. You can only see one of them, however. You assume it's because the rest are too expensive.
Someone: Spot the new meteor coming at you with new gear.
That someone happens to be Lisa. You've had your eyes on the skies since three whole meteors crash landed in Jack's backyard. "More meteors" doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility. As expected, more meteors show up. It could just be one, but you can't make out how many there are yet.
Another Person: Notice the countdown on the cruxtruder.
You are now Jack noticing the countdown on the cruxtruder. It seems to have counted down from 15:00 to 8:44, and still steadily ticking away.
Jack: Attempt to use your brain noodles to figure out what the countdown could mean..
Maybe it's counting down to something urgent? Like... like... What if you're supposed to do something before it hits zero? Or maybe it's counting down til the third team joins the game? Or like... Like... Uh... like what if when it hits zero... Like...
You spend another 20 seconds not being able to finish that thought.
Clay?: Spot the possibly existing bigger meteor that no one else has somehow not noticed looming high up above.
If such a thing even were to exist, you don't see it. You're too mesmerized by Kate. She's been spaced out ever since she stuck her hand into the glowy thing. Plus, the glowy thing turned blue, which you think is a much prettier color than black and white.

Lisa: Get your team to snap out of it! There's no time for this dillydallying. In the meantime, go inspect some of the landed meteors and what they've provided.
The only meteors that have landed so far were the first one that brought the cruxtruder, and the other two that brought the imps. The new meteors are getting closer, and you count three of them. Perhaps a second wave is nigh?
Kate: Try to buy BACK TO YOUR ROOTS.
You spend your one SC on the only thing available to you. The menu forcibly closes and the kernelsprite returns to its original black and white hue.
KATE GOODMAN has unlocked LEVEL 1 TROWELTECH - BACK TO YOUR ROOTS! It allows her to stun somebody so long as they are connected to the ground.

Everyone: Team huddle! As the countdown timer reaches the 8 minute mark, you gather for a quick conference before the next meteors touch down. ==>Three more meteors crash down: one in Jack's yard, one in his neighbor's yard, and one on top of Lisa's roof.

Clay: Try and fashion shotgun out of a garden pipe, fertilizer and a novelty Mr. T lighter.
You successfully locate Jack's GARDEN PIPE and FERTILIZER around the side of his house. You don't know if Jack even has a NOVELTY MR. T LIGHTER, so you substitute a regular lighter instead. Once you finish your handiwork, you realize that more meteors have crashed down and the piece of shit doesn't work.

Kate and Clay: Investigate Jack's neighbor's place.
Jack splits up the team into groups. He stays in his own yard to check out the crash there, and sends you two to hop the fence into his neighbor's yard.
You are now KATE. Clay helps you over the fence and easily makes the jump by himself. You can see an IMP emerge from the smoke of the landing.
Lisa: Check out your place.
Unfortunately, you can't scale the wall back up into your room. Instead, you are forced to re-enter your house through your front door. You run up the stairs without any regard to your dad who is asleep on the sofa. The TV's still on the fishing channel. Classy.
You run into your bedroom. The room would be absolutely flooded with smoke if it weren't for the convenient new skylight in your roof hastily installed by a high velocity projectile from space. There's also a monster. It looks like a bigger version of an imp.
Jack: Stay there.
You turn around to face the meteor crash and are greeted by another imp. The imp is lunging at you this time, because you spent some precious few seconds deploying your teammates to other fields of battle.

Author: Randomize which strife we control first....What? Uh, alright. Let me just bust out the old... ...Shit, I don't have a three sided dice. Does a three sided dice even exist? Uh... Whoa what the fuck is that thing? Welp, I guess they exist. I still don't have one though. Looks like I'm using an RNG. Where's that... Lua script runner bookmark at... Ah, there it is. Okay. 1 for Jack, 2 for Lisa, 3 for Kate and Clay. Here we go!... It's a 3! In retrospect, that probably took way longer than it should have. Let's get to it, shall we?

ROUND 1[CA] Imp: Make the first move.Kate's hesitation and Clay's inability to actually attack give you the perfect opportunity to strike. You pounce. You were originally aiming for KATE, but CLAY's hovering around her like nobody's business, so your attack hit's him instead. CLAY takes 5 damage, and is registered into the encounter.
Clay: Be a gentleman and let Kate take her time to use her turn- AND THEN PUMMEL THE FUCK OUT OF THE IMP.You let Kate build up the courage to attack. She stumbles forward and swings her trowel in the enemy's general direction. The IMP takes 1 damage. We may be here awhile. You cannot attack without an allocated kind abstratus card! The most you can do until you get one is defend Kate and do whatever you can to hinder the imp.
Clay: Hold the imp still from behind to immobilize it.You jump to the imp and attempt to restrain it for Kate to easily be able to attack. You manage to worm around the IMP and put it in a full nelson. It's immobilized! This should give KATE the perfect chance to strike!
ROUND 2Kate: Take a deep breath and stab the imp with your trowel. With CLAY holding the IMP still, you're open to take a clear shot. You can skip rolling to hit straight to rolling for damage! The IMP takes 2 damage! This... really is moving slowly, isn't it?

Kate & Clay: Be Lisa. There's got to be something more exciting than this.LISA VS OGRE

Post by cynicalautomaton on Sept 13, 2017 1:11:44 GMT
ROUND 1[CA] Ogre: Wreck shit. You swing at the tiny human girl who has now made her presence known. You land a direct hit and easily deal 6 damage to LISA.
Lisa: Strike back! That blow left you feeling less than great, but you're determined to hit back. Uh oh. You miss. A thought arises to the top of your mind: You may not be able to take this thing. Not alone, at least. And would killing it even be necessary? There's not much time left on the clock.

ROUND 2[CA] Ogre: Grab. You make an attempt to snatch the girl into your large villainous grabby-hand. She swiftly jumps out of the way of your swing. You bash a hole in the wall, instead.
Lisa: Consider the options. Oh yeah, and attack, that's a good idea too.Successfully taking down this monster would likely yield copious drops. Think of the build grist one could acquire by felling an Ogre. Then again, you don't even know what any of this shit does. Plus, you shouldn't be risking your life like this. Your goal is purely defense. Last time you checked (and you suppose the goals technically could have changed by then) offense was by no means explicitly stated to be a necessary endeavor for victory. You swing at the OGRE, but not well enough to deal damage. You're starting to get a little nervous. This thing could easily take you out any second!

Lisa: Hasty retreat!
You turn and take a dive out of the fresh hole in the wall. You tuck and roll into your back yard, where the new hole leads to. You don't want to lead the monster back to the Cruxtruder, so you go the opposite way instead, ducking into the corner of your yard opposite the fence bordering Jack's.
