Actually, it turns out that season titles are mostly an anime thing. Then again, Homestuck did finally evolve into the anime it was always meant to be, so I still think they would fit. I honestly haven't seen that much at all, but I think when it does happen it's usually because the anime was based on a manga, and manga chapters and/or volumes more commonly have names. I think the journey should probably stay three years long, and instead it should be made more explicit that the kids are training over those three years. Otherwise, arc numbers would be off. If you mean the Beta kids' beta being released on 4/13/09 and the Alpha kids' alpha being released on 11/11/11, that doesn't happen because the kids travel the Furthest Ring for three years. One doesn't have anything to do with the other. It wouldn't affect the arc numbers at all. No, I mean that the Betas are 4 13-year-olds, the Trolls are 12 6-sweep-olds, and at the end everyone is 16, 6 1s is 111111. Everyone's ages are arc numbers.

Yeah but if he changed things around he could get just as much mileage out of new arc numbers, and I don't think it matters that much what the arc numbers are as long as there are arc numbers. Plus a new arc number for a new adaptation would feel kind of neat to me. Like whatever 2.0 is, it and the comic would each in some ways be their own things.

Like, say 415 and 712 instead of 412 and 612 (I think the journey to the new sessions still should take at least one year, that way the relationships that develop on the meteor have time to develop, and the game begins and ends on John's Birthday)?

Yep. And I think around a year would be good, yeah. It feels like a period of time that's long enough for the character changes that happen to take place, but it's not excessive. Plus less time for poor Jade to be alone after Davesprite and John go poof.

I like that they say they want to improve communication. That's one of the things What Pumpkin has needed to work on lately. Everything else was clarification about what 2.0 is.... But honestly, I wouldn't mind just seeing more Horse-intermissions like that. Seriously, that was hilarious.

I am too one of those people who want to see more Hussie-horse interaction on the channel.

So, we had some clarification about "Homestuck 2.0" and that yt channel won't be only for the finale.
Homestuck Official: "Your daily source of horse videos".

I guess they're still in the planning stage, since the video had no teasers. Really the hussie horse thing was the only worthwhile part of it.

Hey boys and girls, check it: I can't watch this right now, could someone tell me what it is? Dante Basco and John Brian(sp?) from whatpumpkin talk about Homestuck 2.0. Homestuck 2.0 is an umbrella term for all Homestuck related projects to be released after the end of the comic. They mentioned they want to maintain a Youtube channel, do video games, and have mystery projects they can't talk about yet. They want fan input on what to do with the Youtube channel, and Hiveswap is still a thing that is totally happening. Most importantly, Andrew Hussie fails to pet a horse.

WHEN SUDDENLY, NEW VIDEO ON THE HOMESTUCK YOUTUBE CHANNEL. (New video out of nowhere.) Homestuck 2.0? QSDFQSFQSDFQSDF I can hardly DEAL. I don’t know what would be prudent things to hope for in this context. The “2.0” part is sooo… enticing. What are they even planning on showing in the video? Is it meant to go with a crowdfunding site? Is it going to feature Dante Basco? Will there be drafts? Or just teasers, with an additional video scheduled for, like, end of May or June? It’s awfully quick of them to post the video though. Especially since there’s not been any additional word on “the epilogue” (if it ever comes to that, that is). I’m torn between theorizing about all the different forms it might take. It might be something like Paradox Space, but Homestuck-er, whatever that might be. MMORPG? Or, like Blaperile thinks it might be, movies? Will Homestuck 2.0 take the form of a series of animated videos posted on the Youtube channel? WHAT. IS. IT. !!!. Well, guess there’s only one way to find out more… *video reaction under the cut* *4:25 minutes later*
AND I STILL DON’T KNOW, I STILL DON’T KNOOOW WHAT HOMESTUCK 2.0 IS.
Okay, yeah, sorta?
So, hah, I was correct it would feature Dante.
I didn’t see this coming, though.
So Homestuck 2.0 is… everything post-Homestuck, basically. Huh.
Hiveswap included, the Youtube channel included… And more.
So basically what they’re trying to do is launch a platform to harvest ideas from where to take the intellectual property next.
And in true Homestuck style, they A) are involving the fans, and B) admit they have NO idea what they’re doing, hahah.
I guess it’s cool of them to admit to not having been that great at communicating with the fans. (*coughMSPAForumscough*)
Heh, it’s true though, Andrew works in mysterious ways (neighs), to have Dante unite with a John (Jon?) that’s in a wheelchair on this project. I was half expecting to see a scribble-mode John or even a John cosplayer come sit next to Dante, though. And it took me a second to register that this bearded, bespectacled man was NOT Andrew Hussie, heh.
Uhm, wow. I’ve gotta let this sink in though. As in, what could I contribute on there? Endgame reaction videos? They’re asking for what our thoughts are on the ending of Homestuck. They’re asking for some creative input. I’m…
Yeah, I gotta let this sink in first. And rewatch it, to see what I missed. *starts doing so*
The on-screen jokes were a funny touch. It was made funnier by how I thought it read “gamzee’s f****** adventure” there, at first. The Andrew-wizard scribble has magical meme properties, I can already tell.
It’s funny that apparently, Dante really spilled the beans there in that video and that hadn’t been meant to happen. And yeah, those interspersed Andrew video segments… The man, the meme, the legend, lives on.
By the by, is that Hiveswap music in the background of the video? And a preview of what the Hiveswap dialogue choice… box… interface-thingy will look like?
Funny how what breaks (spins) off the Homestuck logo is a triangle. (CONFIRMED!)
I wonder, who they might want to talk to about Homestuck. Interviews with musicians? Artists? Well-known fan celebs? What Pumpkin crew?
We just don’t know yet. Wow, this is so confusing.

Oh shit, I just discovered (thanks to KM Sumrall's PM) that there's a video about Homestuck 2.0 out!!
Oh boy, let's see what it's about...
I definitely wasn't expecting news about it so soon after Homestuck the comic ended. And what Dante Basco said about it before made it seem like it was still in very early stages!
So... he mentioned "bringing Homestuck to Hollywood". My first thought would be a movie (OH GOD OH MAN OH GOD), but an animated tv series would be hella dope as well. I'm not sure if there's anything else that could fall under "Hollywood" here.
I just hope that whatever it is, it won't interfere with Andrew's making of Hiveswap too much, like how Hiveswap interfered with Homestuck the comic.
Let's find out, I'm so excited!!
...
Huh, alright! Not really the things I was expecting, but still pretty damn exciting!
So Homestuck 2.0 really is just something more abstract, to encompass anything and everything related to Homestuck that is yet to come.
I'm still a bit mystified about what exactly they want to do with this Youtube channel, but it does sound hella cool!
This first part, of stating how you feel about Homestuck, already sounds pretty interesting. I'm really curious to see what will come of this!
I'll see if I have time to put up a similar video myself in the weekend or something!
Hehe, when Dante told "John" to come over, I can't have been the only one who was thinking of someone else entirely there, right? xD
The Tavros-Rufioh parallel thing was pretty funny too (also, I like how they used THAT as the picture for this video).
Pfff, Andrew though. Silly horse shenanigans like always. At first I was sort of wondering why this John spoke about Homestuck 2.0 next to Dante instead of Andrew himself, but maybe Andrew's simply less comfortable with speaking in front of the camera like that? I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.
I also get really excited about Hiveswap whenever What Pumpkin-related people get excited about Hiveswap.
What I especially really like about this video is that they acknowledge how their interaction with the fans hasn't really been top-notch lately, and that they want to do something about it.
Really excited to see where this will go!

Well, it seems like they're trying to re-open fan communication, which is good. What Pumpkin's PR has been...not the greatest, these past several months. A lot of people are still sore about the forums and the Hiveswap radio silence, myself included.
An official Homestuck channel with lots of fan participation seems like an idea with potential, especially if they get some of the fandom's big names on board for some collaborative projects. (Octopimp's been out of the fandom for a while, I think, but there are probably others who'd be interested.) We still don't know what they're actually planning, though, so I suppose we'll have to wait and see if this takes off.

Do you think it would be a good idea for something similar to Hussie's Formspring to be brought back, where people could ask and Hussie or someone else could give Word of God regarding stuff? Or is Word of God rather than in-epilogue statements a bad idea?

I still get the impression that "Homestuck 2.0" is more the name for what What Pumpkin is doing in a more general sense, i.e. Hiveswap, its other mysterious projects, and what they're doing with the channel, than anything official. If something like a movie or TV show does come out of all this, it will probably take a wholly different name.
It would be pretty cool if this announcement is followed with several more. A news post on MSPA, maybe a kickstarter update, that would be cool. And seeing more from Andrew would be a delight. Like, seeing him talk? Not that the horse thing wasn't incredible. To be honest, it's hard to shift from a guy who was defending their lack of communication to someone admittedly excited to hear from them. But I can say, if this is what they wanna do, I think they're getting to a good start with it.
Anyway, hey, this is kind of a sign to me that says, "Hey, Homestuck's over, but we're not" and I'm really starting to get excited for where things are going to go from here.

The video doesn't exactly answer questions, but I'm glad they mentioned the miscommunication. I'm hopeful, just like I was for Paradox Space, but doubtful that this'll catch on with the larger fandom until the game comes out. I GUESS WE WILL SEE.
(Also, sounds like the game's still a long ways off? That sucks.)
