Mine is actually pretty straight forward.
Back when Roblox was still "cool" and I was young enough to be interested in it, I decided I wanted to get on. The problem was I decided I wanted to make my account in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep and I workstation turn the lights on for fear of waking my parents and getting busted. At the time the biggest thing that was really going on in my life was my piano lessons, so I tried to type in 'pianoplayer', typod, and voila, here I am with a stupid sounding name that I'm too used to to think of giving up.

My one is... sort of random! And... yeah... Well, my name is a mixture of two things. And they're both related to games. ONE part of it, is the number 'Eight'. Now this is a peculiar story, really. I actually liked playing The Stanley Parable before it was made HD. I- really liked everything about it. The comedy, the emotions it can actually make you feel. When I heard that it was going to be remade; I could already feel my money loosening from my wallet. So I heard of the HD demo they released. The demo, as you would expect, was short. But still really funny. At one point here, the Narrator mentions that they would show a part of the REAL GAME. Because the Demo just talked ABOUT the game, the narrator thought it was about time to show them what the game will... be- or look like. (Obvious what it will be, from the previous version of the game itself)... and they showed us a room. The room, looked like THIS. And when you PRESS the button- a sound is made. This is what happens when you press the button. And ever since then, it became an inside joke with my friends, my favourite number and the number I now worship as my god and OH GOD PLEASE HELP ME THE NUMBER EIGHT HAS ME HOSTAGE The SECOND part of it, is 'Trace'. Now I'm a SUCKER for games that make you feel like a hacker, or you're just literally using a god damn DOS. I played a game called HackNet a lot. It was really cool to feel like you're doin' hacks and friccin' wreckin' their computer files. And then just making their computer into a brick. It was cool. Now you may know INSTANTLY where this is going the second I mention hacking. But in one point of the game, you're getting traced and there's no way to stop it. Somebody has to hack you and reduce your computer until it's nothing but... pretty much DOS. Man, that was a pain in my ASS. If you mess up 1 thing in HackNet, you gotta start again. Luckily if you're in that state, you can get your computer back and continue with the story- since the DOS part was part of the story. Well, right before you got to the DOS part, you'd see 'TRACED' with a time limit. And since you get that when you try and hack into someone's computer in the game, I saw it often but never got actually traced. I somewhat stuck with that term, and well- now it's part of my name! It's something I knew about. So, I combined '8' and 'Trace', and you got my name! edit: so basically a bunch of links are broken so gave up

(Oh yeah I haven't said it here). In the past I loved to use random names, never cared enough at all. The name "mudo000" was the most prominent of all. Until I played a game called Everybody Edits, I loved it. The character selection is based by smiley faces (those old shits from Facebook, mostly) and there was the classic named coy and I just took it. (I even made a huge puzzle in the smallest world possible, pretty proud of that). Added "Friendly" to the name and it became my official username.

A mix of CyanogenMod and Misogynist. The first one because I'm really interested in technology and modded stuff, and CyanogenMod is a modified version of Android. The second one because I used to go on Tumblr. A lot. And then I discovered SJWs. So there you go.

I also had a different name in the old forums, too.
Effin was just a weird decision, really.

"memento vivere" means "remember to live" in latin. I started using it about a decade ago as a part of this passive-aggressive feud with a friend when I was a teenager in response to his more pessimistic username of "memento mori" (remember you will die). We've made up since, but I kept the username because I liked the sound of it and because it works as personal mantra of sorts (as in, don't get so caught up in school/work/worries that you forget to enjoy yourself and experience as much of life as possible).
Also elsewhere I'm 3tych (read "triptych"), which was kind of a way of tying both my name and my favorite number to a form of artwork (as well as being a shorter and more unique username than a latin phrase).

I had a really dumb username for a long time, random word with some numbers, and I was tired of that, so I've really only just started using this as my standard really only a few months ago. Basically I'm trying to make an esoteric pun off of the fictional character Judge Dredd and the economist Frédéric Bastiat. Judge Dredd is a law enforcement officer from a dystopian future. In a world of chaos, he stands out as someone who enforces the law to the letter with an extremely no-nonsense attitude. His catchphrase is " I am the Law." Frédéric Bastiat was a 19th century French economist famous for giving clear and forceful arguments for free trade, often using clever fables and satire. His last and maybe most famous work is a political pamphlet titled The Law. That's the joke. My avatar is a picture of the DC super hero The Question. He was originally created by the legendary Steve Ditko, same guy who made Spider-Man. Ditko is a hardcore Objectivist, which is kind of like the asshole version of classical liberalism. To espouse his view, he independently created a character called Mr. A, who had an extremely black and white view of morality and would give criminals long philosophy lectures after he beat them up. This heavily inspired Alan Moore's character Rorschach from Watchmen, who's basically just Mr. A gone mad. The Question was created as a more comic-code friendly version of Mr. A published by Charlton Comics, which was eventually bought out by DC. Since then, DC got creative control and kinda screwed up the character, quickly dropping anything similar to the objectivist stuff and making him like... a Buddhist or something? Also he's now literally one of the three worst people in history? I don't know. Thankfully most non-main universe versions of the character stay closer to his original style, like in the Justice League cartoon where he's a big government conspiracy theorist who basically knows everything.
I used to switch between using him and another Ditko character The Creeper, who DC has also managed to ruin in every way, but I'm sticking to Question now more regularly. Fits my style a bit more, especially as a CaNWC theorist, and I also get to make a reference to Femorafreack as a faceless, fedora wearing enforcer of the law.

My current near-universal username was born from a desire for a nickname offline (it didn't work). One night, I just took the first syllable of my name and stuck an x at the end, forming "Krix".
(In a similar fashion, I also came up with "Jace", which now functions as a surname to Krixwell when I need one: Krixwell Jace.)
I went on to use "Krix" while playing a few emulator games, such as Ocarina of Time. The -well part came along when I played Super Scribblenauts, where the main character is named Maxwell by default. I made a portmanteau of "Krix" and "Maxwell", and I liked the sound of Krixwell a lot better than just Krix (which felt a bit incomplete, even before the rest was added).
These days, though, many of my online friends shorten Krixwell back down to Krix, which I guess might be a little ironic?

One word: Chumhandle. I'm still not sure about this one, but I'm trying it out nonetheless. (Backstory to this one being, I wanted the initials SV, and this sounded cool after spending an unreasonable amount of time on thesaurus.com .) To be honest, I don't *Really* like this one, but... I haven't been able to come up with anything more original.

I created an account, Mk 214 EX to reference another account I made, 214-LE. When I played forum RPGs, moderators and players would just refer to me as "Mk", and from there on, that just kind of stuck.

I first registered the username "Sharkalien" for Club Penguin about 10 years ago, when I was seven years old. I've always had an interest in extraterrestrial life, and I just thought sharks were cool at the time Similar here, I first used nixshadow I think 14 years ago, when I was eight, for Runescape. edit: I actually went to check, it was 12 years ago* when I was 10

when i finished homestuck this summer and discovered that actual pesterchum was a thing, i wanted a chumhandle that roughly meant warlock. when describing what a warlock is to others or when making a joke i frequently call them edgy wizards, so i wanted a play on that. i already decided that i wanted to follow the gcat naming scheme, even though i knew it would be taken(why, i was/am insecure when entering new communities so i tryharded). i also decided that the wizard part would be replaced by arcane, so i needed a word for the edgy part and settled on cynic because it's not straight up edgy(but still pretty edgy).

My story on every forum I join (they always have this thread) is the same: I was 11 and wanted to be funny an subversive by making my username Thedudewhoposted, but that was too long for the forum I was signing up for, So I typed in random numbers, which turned out to be 3445.

Mine's just my name and favorite animal. It doesn't have much of a backstory. I changed the second W to an S both as a reference to a Mother game and to make it flow better on the tongue.

Originally, when I was like, 9, I used the name Haro on things like Poptropica and Club Penguin, or when playing video games that let you choose a name.(it was a typo of my actual name that stuck.) The first proper online community I joined though was the forum for Elements: The Game, which is a browser card game that hasn't been updated for years but still has an active community.(You think Homestuck has long hiatuses, try 4 years.) I felt like trying a new username on the forum, something cooler, but the signup page confused me immensely.(I still am not sure what if anything one of the filled-out boxes did.) I put 1011686 into what turned out to be the username box, because that was the name i used to login to computers at school. I could have gone through a process to change it, but i couldn't be bothered. I rarely go on the Elements forums anymore, but pretty much every other online username I've used since has been some derivative of 1011686.(I think of it as "Ten-Eleven-Six-Eight-Six in my head.) I also get my avatar from it, as a sort of tribute to my first proper online foray.

My name's Feather (not legally, because I want to be taken seriously sometimes), and the "-friend"'s there because I like to think I'm a friendly person, I guess. It was my Tumblr URL for a while, and even though I changed my URL there, I kept it as my discord username and didn't bother changing my nickname on the MSPFA discord, so I use it here for consistency's sake.

The reason behind my username is kinda simple really. I was never good with usernames, I used to usually just make random usernames based on my interests and likes and stuff, till I started thinking once I started using the pesterchum client, "what would be a good chumhandle that could be in a fanventure" and then I came up with this name. badabing. mic drop.

A few years ago when I was first getting into Homestuck, I joined up at an MSPA roleplay forums called Cel3stial after discovering Trollmegle, basically like MSPARP only randomized and you didn't know what you were going to get. The forum rules stated that you had to have a username that showed you were a Homestuck fan, however (Such as a Pesterchum handle). Since Tavros was my Patron troll, I decided to use AT as the abbreviation. I wanted it to sound cool but not edgy, so I decided to go with simething involving Time. And since I was hooked on Skyward Sword at the time and thought the Time shift stones were a neat mechanic, I decided on the name 'automatedTimeshift.' Fast forward years later and I still have the username. Although I DO sometimes go by the nickname of 'Noot.'
