> what do you plan to use these for? Glowroots, pyreroots and dazepoppies are ingredients used to craft potions. Magic water has a number of uses, you personally use it to reveal the MAGICAL ASPECTS of ingredients. Coffee is a different story.
Kal's Classic is your go to choice for coffee. Crack open a can of Kal's and instantly your body becomes a temple housing only warmth, pleasure and an all-around good feeling. It's energizing effects has kept you up many a night and day allowing you to focus on crafting potions or consume more of the savory beverage. Mostly the latter.
Kal's Classic. Rich. Pure. Highly Addictive.

Studying magic typically refers to studying RUNES. Runes are languages crafted by the DRAGONS and are considered their last gift to the people of DELTORNIA before they disappeared mysteriously over 500 years ago. Every rune has a meaning which can be strung together with other runes to create SPELLS.

The user's interpretation of the runes used in the SPELL allows for varying effects. For example, using the FIRE runes GO and FIRE could create a spell that shoots a fireball or one that banishes fire. If the intended effect is too complex with respect to the runes used, the spell the spell has higher chance of not working. Your current level allows you to combine a maximum of TWO runes.
Using a rune requires a certain amount of SPELL POWER which can vary depending on the type of rune and it's ELEMENT. The FIRE rune FEEL requires 20 spell power while the STAR rune FEEL requires 10. A spell cannot be used if its total spell power exceeds that of the user.

Your top drawer holds a copy of the BOOK OF STARS which details basic information on star runes. The original "Book" of Stars is a scroll located in the MUSEUM OF MAGIC in ELFORIA.
Inside of the bottom drawer is your ORDINARY MAGIC WAND. There is also your SPELL TOME containing the one spell you've written, but cannot cast.

Equip Magic Wand.
Consider smaller red cauldron on drawer-top. Why do you need the red one when you have the big black one? Do you regularly have to brew multiple things at once?

20 SPELL POWER is gained by equipping your ORDINARY MAGIC WAND. You pull out the ole' CAULDRON in preparation for potion crafting and maybe a few silly antics.
There's no need to lie to yourself, you brought the cauldron out solely for silly antics.
Aww yeah, it's time to grab a front-row seat for...
Canoes! This already sounds better than that POTIONS malarkey! There weren't even any potions in that comic. Lame!

Woo! Canoes! Be careful not to find yourself up an unpleasant creek without a paddle. In fact, keep several redundant paddles with you at all times, like a sensible person.

Your name is Simon. You've been the runner-up of the EXTREME CANOEING GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP for the past two years, but all of that changes today!
The ECGC, as you big-league racers refer to it, is a tournament style race with a grand prize of 50,000 DELTUMS. This year's prize is a step up from the 20,000 offered last year and also includes dinner with a lord. You and six other contestants have collectively crushed the aspirations of thirty competitors through deft maneuvers, slick drifts and the occasional paddle-to-paddle combat, crafting a river of tears for cruising your way to the finals.
They may be wave-riding experts, but you won't allow any of them to stand between you and your chance at feasting on royal cuisine.

Could you combine potions and Canoeing to give yourself an advantage? Like a Potion of speed boost, or an elixir of calm waters? Or offensively something to give a competitor like flu in a bottle?

Could you combine potions and Canoeing to give yourself an advantage? Like a Potion of speed boost, or an elixir of calm waters? Or offensively something to give a competitor like flu in a bottle? Hello, I make POTIONS. Things in my life have been getting pretty hectic, so I don't have as much time to work on this as I want, but I haven't stopped working on it. Really, the amount of things I've preped for this comic is astounding! Haha, not really. I know things are going pretty slow (we're at like, two pages (not literally) which is like, terrible). There's not much time for me to commit to a schedule because of those hectic things in life, so I'll just update whenever I'm able to. It's probably too early for this, but I made a discord server for anyone interested in discussing the long journey we've had romping about Simon's study. There's so much to discuss, such as theories! What is that pot on Simon's shelf for? Who are those two sorcerers who who made a great display of SPELLS? Are they important? The best part is that even I don't know the answers to these questions. Maybe I do. I wouldn't bet money on it though. I'll be in the server whenever I'm in the server to post updates and talk about whatever, so join it might be fun!

Don't worry about real life busyness, we understand. Your comic is fun, regardless of the pace.
Simon --> You're right. There is only one thing left to do. Brew an imagination potion, and drink it, thereby refreshing your imagination. Don't worry, you don't believe those quacks who say that it's addictive. What do they know?

Swap Hat and pants in paper-doll inventory. Peer out window of room to the outside. Equip Pointed Wizard Clogs in weapon slot. They look sharp enough to be good shankin' shivs. Become the Rogue Wizard.
Success! This is the most crucial step in working with magic: doning one's pants as- no, that's a lie. No one does this, but you don't care. You'll be a trend setter. This could become the hottest fashion trend for all wizards to participate in. It took a while for the hat thing to get around. Speaking of hats you toss yours to the ground since wearing them as pants would be impossible and silly.
You put your wand in your inventory and allocate your shoes to your weapon slot, both equally sensible actions. Your shoes make a much better weapon than your wand, although this does nothing to change your class. You're still a Star Wizard. Is there any easy way to get the materials on the list? You'd prefer to gather the roots and dazepoppies yourself, but the magic water is most easily obtained at a shoppe at the nearby town you mentioned. The shoppe also sells some ingredients, but charge OUTRAGEOUS PRICES for them. That place probably isn't a legit business anyway, but it's a shoppe with two "P's" and an "E" and that's all you need to get by around here.
Alright, that's enough horseplay for the moment. You're a very serious wizard and you are very serious about your work, no matter what the locale of certain wardrobe may imply. As previously stated, you're low on supplies and you will have to restock soon. Luckily, you do have some leftover extracts.
You have three (3) HEALING extracts, (2) WARMING extracts, and one (1) CONFUSION extract.
Crafting POTIONS is eaaaasy. At least with your current understanding it is. All you have to do is extract the MAGICAL ASPECTS, mix the extracts in a liquid base and finally, bottle them up! Any new combinations made are immediately recorded into your BOOK OF POTIONS for later reference.
You record information on all the ingredients you've used in your INGREDIENT COMPENDIUM. It's not very full as many ingredients can be hard to obtain, so you're mostly stuck with the few native to your area.
Glowroot dots many of parts of known Deltoria, illuminating many of its grassy lands with a soft, yellow glow only visible during night. A generous pile of them can make for a decent makeshift lamp. Distant cousin to the widely known Glowroot. One first observes the warmth emitted from this plant as their hands come into contact with it. Pyreroot naturally sprouts from the more temperate regions of Summeria. Stuff a bunch of these under yoursheets and make way for a snug, and toasty rest! This flower releases a scent that dazes those who come into close contact with it. An effective defense mechanism against small monsters and wizards alike. DO NOT INHALE. DO NOT INHALE AGAIN.
With your current level (5), you're able to create POTIONS and MAGIC BREWS and combine two (2) separate aspects. POTIONS require a water base and have various beneficial effects. The effects they produce depend on the combinations of magical extracts used. Only 3 separate aspects can be extracted from one ingredient after that it becomes void of all magic and practically useless.
MAGIC BREWS, requiring a magic water base, harbor the MAGICAL FLAVOR of the ingredient used. They don't produce any magical effects, but their arcane aromas and flavors are sure to please even the most critical of connoisseurs. You prefer Kal's Classic to any of your magic brews, that coffee is better than anything you could concoct. Once the magical flavor of an ingredient has been extracted, the magical aspects can no longer be extracted and it becomes void of all magic.
Now what kind potion will you craft? With all those extracts the possibilities are limited!
Boy, it took Simon mighty long put his pants on his head. What a great wizard. I'm back.

>Seems the safe and best option is to combine one healing extract and one warming extract in magical water, should make a light healing an warming potion, there's alway some use for that or people who'l need to buy some.
>If you combine one extract of confusiona nd one of healing, does it make apotion that clear confusion ? Or rather one that cures and confuse ? Because if it's the former, you could make rich by selling it as hangover cure.
>How is magical water prduce, could you make some yourself ?
>Make a mental note to go find some more Glowroot, Pyreroot and Dazepoppies

>How is magical water prduce, could you make some yourself ? You can't make magic water yourself. NYMPHS produce it with one of their BLESSINGS, but like most SPIRITS they're very cagey about their secrets. Or so you've heard. You've never met any spirits. Luckily, you only need plain, boring, regular water to craft potions. You have two buckets filled with it hidden conveniently under your ALTAR.
>Seems the safe and best option is to combine one healing extract and one warming extract in magical water, should make a light healing an warming potion, there's alway some use for that or people who'l need to buy some. >Make a Warming/Warming potion. You can't do that either, potions require multiple differing extracts. You've chosen the HEALING and WARMING extracts instead. With your wand, you mix lightly. Finally, you will bottle your creation. This will be hard with shoes on your hands, so you'll put those back where they belong. By combining the HEALING and WARMING extracts, you have created a Potion of Healing Warmth, 10 in fact. You're able to bottle 10 POTIONS with every full batch.
While it doesn't heal the user, they are able to heal those around with the increased body heat they exude although physical contact is necessary. A handshake will heal another, but it's most effective when you give them a big, warm hug! Most prefer the former. Huzzah! You've finally created some potions! Yep, POTIONS is finally over. Ok, maybe it's not completely finished, but perhaps now you can be a cooler character, maybe someone with a sword, or a cape. Yeah, that would be pretty sweet.
Nope you're still Simon. Bummer.
Well, your work is done for the moment. You're free to shove off and sell your products in the town and find ingredients or engage in more shenanigans around your home. Or anything if we're going that route. The choice is yours.
In one of the last panels, two of the same extracts (HEALING) were combined to make a potion. My mistake in doing that. Potions require differing extracts. I've changed it the fit this rule. To clarify some magic stuff that may or may not be relevant for a while: potions use regular water for a base, magic brews use magic water. Simon can currently combine two extracts when making potions. I think that's all rules of magic we've seen so far. Thanks for reading Potions, I appreciate it.
