Just a while ago you were a small lizard trying to make ends meet in the big city and provide for your younger siblings.
Now you find yourself aboard an experimental warship stolen by a rag tag team of rebels, and they want your help in their campaign against the Empire bent on world domination.
You have been told that in your belly grows the spirit of Earth Dragon Conqueror and that gives you magical power, but you have no idea how or if it is even true.
You had to leave to protect your family from a group of shady and powerful people coming after you. You do not when or if you can go back.
You are more terrified and excited than you have ever been in your life.
Your name is Vivian and this is your story.
BEASTFOLK MARITIME ADVENTURE
Hi everyone! In this story we follow the adventures of the crew of SS Fulton. Each chapter starts with the main goal that needs to be resolved before you can proceed to the next chapter. Mind that you do not necessarily need to succeed in it!
At the beginning you have only Vivian to control, but completing chapters gives you experience points (EP) that you can use to unlock new characters, powers, and accessories for them. During the play your actions also initiate optional goals and resolving those nets you a nifty bonus. They are, of course, completely optional.
The recruitable characters you have not met yet in the story are in gray and cannot be chosen until you do. The empty slots will be filled up over time, and the selection of available characters will change from chapter to chapter and according to the choices you make during the game - if you are determined to recruit someone they are likely to hop on aboard!
Chapter 1: A New Beginning
You are standing on the poop deck of the ship. Sun has just risen above the horizon and the sea wind rushes vigorously around you, billowing your clothes and sending the ship flying across the glittering ocean. It was merely yesterday when you were secreted away in a hurry from the Empire’s capital but it feels like days, the chaotic memories jumbled up and refusing to settle into a tidy narrative in your mind.
You remember a bunch of hooded weirdos coming after you and being helped to escape by a tavern owner in league with the rebels. You were whisked away on a small roving boat and taken to this ship with a bunch of other rebel sympathizers, but you did not recognize any of them. You were given a cabin of your own where you spent the night, the crashing of waves against ship’s side rocking you to a restless sleep.
You were woken up in the morning by a knock and a breakfast set on a tray in front of your door. Of your host you could catch just a glimpse of his back as he disappeared behind a corner, a young otter with an easy gait and a sailor’s uniform. Not knowing what else to do you ate and dressed up, then sauntered onto the deck. You are by no means an expert in maritime affairs, but the ship feels almost deserted to you - one would expect to see and hear more people on a ship of this size. Where is everybody?
This adventure is a relaunch of my previous work,B.C.A. It picks up the story from where it was left, and all events in B.C.A. are considered canonical - it is not required reading to enjoy this one but most characters from it will make an appearance. I’m doing this because over the time I grew dissatisfied with the format and wanted to try something new. I like the characters you, the readers, helped me to create and want to continue their stories in this new adventure!
