This has been a pretty interesting round. Lots of heart breakers all around, but a lot of interesting matches and hope for an interesting outcome. I know Jude won't make it far, but I'm praying for a Hiveswap representative to do well this year. All in all, congrats to all the upsets, except for Dad, and luck in Round Two.

No particular surprises this round, and not a single upset. 11/16 of the ones I voted for made it, and I wasn't very invested in the 5 that didn't, so I'm pretty happy. As for this round, it's sad seeing Rose -vs- Aradia, as they're my favorite and second favorite character respectively; regardless of which one wins, I'll be losing one of my favorites, and I'll be down to only one of my top 3 left. Anyway, the only real tough choice for me was Dave -vs- Nepeta, but I went with Nepeta because otherwise I wouldn't be voting for a single underdog this round. The full list of who I voted for is Roxy, Nepeta, John, Jade, Rose, Jake, Kanaya, and Terezi.

Yay, everyone I voted for last round made it, other than PM and (Vriska)! I gotta say that I'm pretty surprised that Porrim is more popular than (Vriska)!
I gotta say though, I love the match-ups in the next round. They're all fitting ones (other than perhaps Jake VS Jack, haha).
Anyway, I voted for Roxy, Dave, John, Jade, Rose, Jake, Kanaya and... Terezi.
All of these were pretty easy for me to choose, except for Terezi VS Karkat. My opinion on whose my favorite of the two switches around a lot. xD
I'm kinda afraid that John might not make it against Vriska, and I could see it going either way between Jade and WV, between Jake and Jack, and between Terezi and Karkat.

Not a single upset? That's a bit disappointing, but I guess not unexpected. We've wittled out a lot of the more interesting characters and gotten to the more obvious ones. But really, as long as a previous winner doesn't win, I'll be happy. Speaking of, Kieros, do you think maybe after this competition, we could do a rematch for Roxy and Dave? Come on, it can't end on a tie. Even if it's a year late, I feel we need to resolve this. (And I don't want a repeat winner, dangit!) EDIT: What does the "upset" mean? It means the less likelier of the two won instead of the one thought would be the one to win. I don't know exactly how this is determined. I think it has something to do with number of initial votes before the brackets were set up. Thus, if the percentages are green, that was the candidate decided as the more popular one from the onset. If it's gray, it was close. If it's red, it was an upset, and the one that was predicted to lose ended up getting more votes. Probably Kieros could explain it better, but you have a primer now at least.

Come on, it can't end on a tie. Even if it's a year late, I feel we need to resolve this. (And I don't want a repeat winner, dangit!) Well, at least the finals won't be beteen Dave and Roxy this time seeing as if they make it through the current round they'll be facing each other in the top 8. I'd be pretty surprised if WV makes it past both Jade and the winner of the John/Vriska showdown. But in any case, even if Dave or Roxy makes it to the semifinals they'd be facing WV, which means only one of those 3 at most will make it to the finals. As for the other 2 divisions, Karkat's the only previous winner over there, so he'd have to make it past Terezi, Kanaya/Porrim, and Rose/Aradia/Jake/Jack to make it into the finals. I think it's pretty likely the finals will have at least one character who isn't a previous winner. While I continue to root for John winning this year (as I have been all the previous years), I think there's a pretty high chance the title might go to Dave or Roxy again this year. My dream finals would be John VS Rose here, but I'm thinking the more likely one is Dave or Roxy VS Rose or Terezi.

(And I don't want a repeat winner, dangit!) Tell you what, if both of them lose this round, I'll put this as one of the additional votes in the final. Otherwise, it'll be clear as one advances past the other or they'll face each other next round. Part of my design in setting up the bracket was to avoid a finals repeat. What does the "upset" mean? It means the less likelier of the two won instead of the one thought would be the one to win. I don't know exactly how this is determined. I think it has something to do with number of initial votes before the brackets were set up. Thus, if the percentages are green, that was the candidate decided as the more popular one from the onset. If it's gray, it was close. If it's red, it was an upset, and the one that was predicted to lose ended up getting more votes. Probably Kieros could explain it better, but you have a primer now at least. Yep, every qualifying vote was worth a certain number of points, and characters were ranked by how many points they ended up getting. Roxy Lalonde ended up with 776 total points, good for the top overall seed Gamzee Makara ended up with 278.083 points, which was enough for a six seed Jack Noir had 124 points, which made them an eleven seed Skipper Plumbthroat had 22 points, which was a sixteen seed (and only qualified because no other character from Squiddles scored anything)
Thus, when Roxy beat Plumbthroat, that was expected by the initial point total, so it was not an upset. However, when Jack beat Gamzee, the points thought it should have gone the other way, and thus it was an upset.

You know it's amazing I didn't see it before, but the four leading seeds ( ), the leads of each division and the four most likely to enter the final four could easily end up being this configuaration. That honestly would be almost worth a predictable outcome. And at least three of those aren't previous winners too.

You know, instead of going by division, lets go from furthest to closest. I can start doing this one round early, because we get exciting again. And I hid the vote link all the way at the end, so I know you had to go through the full reveal to get to it. Over 80% 1) Kanaya Maryam beats 5) Porrim Maryam, with 85.06% of the vote Over 70% 1) Roxy Lalonde beats 4) Calliope, with 76.74% of the vote 1) Rose Lalonde beats 4) Aradia Megido, with 70.79% of the vote Over 65% 2) Jade Harley beats 3) Wayward Vagabond, with 68.60% of the vote 1) John Egbert beats 4) Vriska Serket, with 67.47% of the vote, and will face Jade in the Elect 8 Over 60% 2) Dave Strider beats 3) Nepeta Leijon, with 63.22% of the vote, and will face Roxy in the Elect 8 2) Terezi Pyrope beats 3) Karkat Vantas, with 60.71% of the vote, and will face Kanaya in the Elect 8Over 55% Nope. Nothing in this range. Over 52% Nothing here neither. Over 51% Yeah, it was close. Over 50%

Spoilered to not ruin the above reveal: Well, the one vote thing was pretty intersting, but once again we have no upsets and it's 1 and 2 seeds across the board. :/ Not that the winners don't deserve it, though.
This round was pretty tough. Roxy and Rose were both easy picks for me, but the other two were both hard to choose. I ultimately went with Jade and Kanaya.

Unfortunately I've got a pretty good idea how this round is going to go (see my previous post), but I guess all things considered, Roxy, if anyone, deserves to be a multiple-time winner in a fan competition. But this year, I think I'm really rooting for John. Maybe.

My reaction to the Elect Eight: Holy shit!!! All 8 people I voted for made it into the next round! Hell fucking yes. I'm really excited about these 8 being the final ones! I mean, I would have replaced Jake with Jane and Kanaya with Karkat as the final 8, but Jake and Kanaya are awesome too so I can deal with this! These are definitely a very fine 8. For this round, I voted on Dave, John, Rose and Terezi (though I think it would be very funny if banditAffiliate's theory of Roxy, John, Rose and Kanaya making it comes true). We're doing this man, we're making it happen! Still rooting all the way for John here!

Well well well. Blaperile kept me up to speed on proceeds, but I didn't want to let the competition pass me by completely without voting. So I voted Dave, John, Rose and Kanaya to go to the next round. All pretty gutteral decisions, except for the last matchup, where I decided to pick Kanaya over Terezi in the end. I wanted to show her some love, her being my patron troll and all. Plus, she's had her own moments of awesome even if the story passed her by from time to time. (For one, just look at how unimpressed she is when the others are activating their own fraymotifs and god tier powers in [S] Collide.)

And eight are down to four. But which four? Well, let's once again go from furthest to closest. With 77.14% of the vote...
The winner of the Muddy Wallow division is... ROSE LALONDE over Jake English Rose's highest finish beforehand: 2nd place, 2014 (Jake's highest finish beforehand: Round of 32, 2015 <NEW HIGH!>) With 57.14% of the vote...
The winner of the Enchanted Palace division is... JADE HARLEY upsets John Egbert Jade's highest finish beforehand: 6th place, 2014 <NEW HIGH!> (John's highest finish beforehand: 5th place, 2015) With 50.72% of the vote... And yes, this is by only one vote again...
The winner of the Elf Elevator division is... TEREZI PYROPE upsets Kanaya Maryam Terezi's highest finish beforehand: 3rd place, 2014 (Kanaya's highest finish beforehand: 2nd place, 2015) AND FINALLY...
The winner of the Small Cottage division is... And the unofficial winner of 2016 MSPA madness (although it'll go down as a tie) is... With 50.72% of the vote, yet another one vote decision... ROXY LALONDE beats Dave Strider Roxy's highest finish beforehand: 1st place, 2014 (Dave's highest finish beforehand: t-1st place, 2016)VOTE IN THE FINISHING FOUR TODAY!

Well, looks like the upsets were just holding out for now! And two more one vote victories, wow! Nice to see 3/4 of the ones I voted for making it, and the fourth being from the matchup I debated over the most!
For this matchup, Rose is my favorite character, so that's my choice for the first one, but the second one is a bit harder. Roxy's already won too much already, though, so I'm gonna go with Jade. It would be interesting to see a battle of the Lalondes for first place, though.

Well, there we have it, it's (un)official. Roxy won 2016. Good try Dave. Actually, there were quite a few last-minute upsets shaking the final rounds up from how I started to predict. And I don't think there were anywhere near this many one-vote decisions in any other competitions (though I wouldn't know for sure as I only knew of the competition since last year), so that's still pretty cool. Image under secondary spoiler. It's a lightly flickering gif, so be warned.

LALONDE FIGHT, LALONDE FIGHT!!!! Really I just don't want Roxy to win again... not that I don't like her, but she's won so many times. It'd be neat if 2017 went to Terezi or Rose. But Jade is just boring.

Holy SHIT that was quite the ride. Welp, goodbye John and Dave. Sad to see you go. D: I am endlessly amused by how Dave VS Roxy was so damn close once again though, haha. I am REALLY surprised by how close Terezi VS Kanaya was though! I mean, I love Kanaya a lot but I'd no idea there were so many people who preferred her over Terezi! And wow, like banditAffiliate said, there have been so many close matches this year! So now... only Rose, Jade, Terezi and Roxy remain! Daaaaaaang! I'm voting for Rose and Jade now! That would be a pretty cool finale to me! Although, I think it's probably going to be Rose VS Roxy.

Well, it's all come down to this. There are four possible finals here, depending on what you all voted for: - Two of the most consistent characters could face off, both of whom have been in four straight Finishing Fours. They have gone on very different paths since then, however: One of them has won once and tied for the championship another time, the other has never made it into the finals.
- The other two making the finals would be an interesting pair as well: A prior runner up against one of the strongest prior champions and a character who had never made the Finishing Four.
- We could have the two characters who have never made the finals before meet up, and have two characters get their best finish ever.
- Or we could have a rematch of the 2014 finals.
Now, which of these will it be? With 54.76% of the vote...
The winner between Rose Lalonde and Terezi Pyrope is... ROSE LALONDE With 54.55% of the vote...
The winner between Roxy Lalonde and Jade Harley is...
