Since the old thread for this game died a few months ago, I'm making a new thread to gauge interest in bringing Item Fight back. For the uninitiated, Item Fight is a game where you are given a randomized selection of items and, by using them creatively, murder the hell out of a whole bunch of enemies. For those who were in the old game, I'm more or less stealing Piono's rules, with a few tweaks, which I have compiled here. (I have something of a plotline continuation planned as well) RULES:-Each player has a max HP of 200, six inventory slots for holding items, and two(ish, simple things like moving or eating may be considered "half actions", massive complex actions may be counted as two, all at DM's discretion) actions per post. Free actions (like combining or sharing items) do not count. If at least half the players have posted after 1 day, I will quote everyone, deal out damage, and have enemies act, advancing everything 1 "turn". Once the objective of the current fight has been fulfilled (usually killing everything, but occasionally other things), there will be a brief break period for preparation and item shuffling before moving on to the next fight. Tag non-actions or questions with /null.
-Enemies come in waves, and will have varying HP and characteristics which will be introduced as they come. Your goal is usually to kill them. Enemies attack on the DM (me)'s turn. Players will have a chance to respond to enemy attacks by dodging, blocking, interrupting, whatever seems suitable.
-The Item Roulette is the list of semi-random items available to you. Taking items from the roulette is a free action, and each player can take up to three items from the roulette per turn. Once it's emptied or nobody has taken something from it in several turns, it will refresh with new items. Items can be used in whatever way you see fit once you have them. Be creative! Certain items may be one or limited-use; the amount of uses left will be listed with it.
-Items can be traded with other players in the same area. You can give an item to a specific player (provided their inventory is not full or they don't want it), put it up for grabs for anyone to take, whatever. You can also request that another player give/let you borrow an item; however, they have to approve it, so you should probably prepare a separate "if I can't get X item, then..." action just in case. Item trading is a free action, and items can be shuffled around as many times as you like; however, an item can only be used to attack once per round. (So, no playing hot-potato with the bazooka just so you can use it five times in one round)
-Items can be combined. This can be done in two ways: Combining and Alchemy.
Combining is simple physical combination of two items. Any two items can be combined, but they must be combined using some kind of binder (tape, rope, glue) or be items that could naturally go together (sticking mechanical parts together, mixing two potions, etc.) Just saying "I combine X and Y" won't fly; you need to describe how you're combining them. And combining won't give you an item with mixed properties, it'll give you two items mashed together. Combining a bit of jagged metal and a baseball bat won't yield you a spiky metal baseball bat, it'll give a baseball bat with a bit of metal stuck to the end. Combining is a free action up to a point. Tying a knife to a stick will cost nothing; fabricating a powerful robot will take an action or two, unless you want it to fall apart immediately. Combining can sometimes be undone, depending on circumstances and how they were combined.
Alchemy is combining two items to get one item with shared characteristics. Alchemy is done between fights (and under other special circumstances), and usually uses up Grist, which is awarded for killing powerful enemies, using teamwork, being especially creative, and generally however I see fit. Grist can be redistributed however the players see fit. More powerful combos will consume more Grist; simply list the items and the combined item you hope to get, and I will name a price. (Haggling for reduced price in return for a less powerful item is acceptable) This is how the most powerful legendary items will be created; however, after a certain point, just throwing more items together will have diminishing returns. It's also best if alchemized items work together in some way; a plastic flamingo and a shuriken set is unlikely to yield anything powerful. Items cannot be un-alchemized.
-Players die when they hit zero HP. There are three levels of death:
Dead: The player will respawn with full HP and no items next turn, unless somebody finds a way to revive them. Standard result of reaching zero HP by any means.
Gibbed: Player will respawn with half HP next turn and no items next turn. Result of ignoring incredibly powerful attacks or otherwise being negligent with already low HP. May also be cause be absurdly powerful attacks from lategame enemies or bosses. Very little chance of being saved from this without a coordinated miracle effort from the other players.
Vaporized: Player will respawn after 2 turns with half HP and no items. Result of negligence at low HP combined with very powerful boss attacks. Almost no escaping this one.
Certain items may be able to revive a dead player before they respawn. Game will probably be considered over if all players are dead at once, but that's a rather unlikely possibility.
-Terrain and the surroundings will factor into the battle, affecting how you can move, how you can attack, hazards, etc. Items that could be plausibly found in the environment can be picked up (you can pick up a rock from the floor of a cave, for instance). You can also pick up spoils from defeated enemies, but most of what you can scavenge will be broken or raw materials. Important, powerful drops will show up in the item roulette.
-How much damage an attack does will be judged on several criteria: how creative the attack is, teamwork and coordination with fellow players, whether you're exploiting your enemies weaknesses and the environment, etc. Teamwork is vitally important; coordinated team attacks will almost always do more damage, and will probably extract grist from foes. Basic, undescriptive attacks like "I hit the goblin with my sword" will be weak, and likely punished with counterattacks/ ill effects. Using the exact same attack many times in a row will also be less effective than the first time, and are very likely to be dodged or countered. Paying attention to an enemy's vulnerabilities and characteristics is vital; using a fire attack on a fire enemy will not end well for you. If you want to jump in, just post here so I know how big to make the first fight. I'll start when/if enough people are interested. Anyone will be able to jump in once it starts, though.

Figured I should post something just to reassure the people who've posted already that I haven't forgotten about this.
I'm still waiting for a few more signups; about 4-5 people is the minimum I want to start with.

The Story 200 years ago, the incredibly powerful being known as the Conqueror broke free of his prison.
None are sure how it happened. There was a group of mighty heroes blessed by the Goddess of this world, who braved the dark fortress where he was held, to destroy him once and for all...
...but they vanished and were never seen again. Perhaps they died. Perhaps they simply lost heart. None know, but the Conqueror's return came soon after. Some say he may have taken the Spark of Creation held by their fellowship, a fragment of the divine creativity infinite held by heroes of ages past. Whether they died defending it or surrendered it willingly is unknowable.
Whatever the source of his power, the calamity the Conqueror rained down on the land was catastrophic. He tore the very earth asunder. He shattered the sky, and called forth hosts horrible and grotesque from its cracks. Legion after legion of heroes tried to stop him. Legion after legion of bodies trailed in his wake.
His power grew immense; for this world is a world of crossroads, not just of space and time but realities. The Conqueror tore open world after world using this one as his base, feasting on the power of shattered dimensions until he became almost godlike.
Finally, the Goddess of this world could tolerate no more. For the first time in history, she stepped from her bright throne in heaven, descending with her divine armies to do battle with the Conqueror personally.
She failed. She had waited too long, had allowed him to become too powerful. Weak and fatally wounded, the Goddess took the only option left to her.
She tore a hole in reality and dragged the Conqueror through, imprisoning both of them in a dimension of her making. Neither was heard from again.
The world the Goddess once ruled now lies a shell of its former glory, its great cities naught but rubble, its magic rotted away. The once great Gate of Heaven, where the final battle against the Conqueror was fought, sits and festers like a mouldering corpse.
But life never truly leaves a place, not for good. New cities sprout like mushrooms, new lives and cultures seep up from the cracks. And wherever there is a corpse...
...there will always be vultures. It seems the place is more or less as your employer described it. Ruined, overgrown, and impossibly huge. You can just barely make out the fog-wreathed crystal sitting at the spire's peak; clouds seem to be lazily drifting about the taller spires. You're suddenly finding your client's insistence that there's only seven floors to be climbed rather ludicrous. Of course, she also warned you of temporo-spatial anomalies; decayed extradimensional geometry, collapsed wave-bounds, quasi-euclidian knots, all sorts of incomprehensible magic mumbo-jumbo that you are assured will make your life hell. The fabric of the universe doesn't take the murder of God too well, who knew? On the plus side, though, it seems to have saved you a lot of climbing. You and the rest of your group leave the airship pilot behind (having him fly you up to the higher levels would do Very Bad Things, apparently) carefully pick your way up the marble steps, staying alert for possible threats-both from enemies and the building itself. If the prize inside is as incredible as you've been told, there's going to be an awful lot of protection on it. You and your merry band are treasure hunters, you see; treasure hunters whose skills are in very high demand due to the Spark of Creation you lucked into a while back. You've made quite the name for yourselves finding artifacts thought to be irretrievable through egregious abuse of divine item-summoning power. And now you have what may be your largest contract yet. You are being paid very handsomely to retrieve the six-dimensional crucible of divine power lying at the top of the Gate of Heaven. If your employer is serious about what they're offering - and considering the crazed look in her eye she got while talking about it, she might actually be - it'll be enough to keep you comfortable for the rest of your life. Seven floors, with a "test of worthiness" or whatever at the end of each one, probably. That's not so hard, right? The first few rooms are actually rather uneventful. Vine-choked floors and walls, toppled statuary, crumbling pillars and ancient runes, the works for a ruined holy site. You poke around a bit for relics here and there, but find nothing; all the easy pickings were taken long, long ago. After some time though, you finally stumble across what looks like an actual challenge. You find yourself on a balcony overlooking a very large, circular worship area of some sort. The central feature of the room is a massive, gently humming stalactite of blue crystal hanging above a circular altar. Other than that, there are a few fallen pillars (not-load-bearing, thankfully), some broken statuary, some benches, and scattered fragments of stained glass. Strangely, there seems to be far less vegetation here. At the far end of the room is a massive archway, blocked by a glowing blue barrier covered in intricate runes. You can see a line of glowing runes running across the ceiling to the blue crystal. Well, at least that part's straightforward enough: break the crystal, open the barrier. Complicating the matter are the room's occupants. There are a number of bizarre arcane constructs floating about the crystal like moths around a lamp. They somewhat resemble large, broken gyroscopes, with rings of marble rotating around a gemstone core. Some are smaller, while others are larger, with multiple crystals orbiting around them. At the far end, flanking the archway, are two crystal golems, standing still as statues with spears. They all seem docile for now, but that'll change once you start attacking the crystal. And, to make things even more fun, there's a pack of wolves sleeping off to the side. Wild animals occasionally settle down in places like this, and it looks as those these ones have been leaching the magical energy of this place. They seem larger than normal wolves, and their fur is silvery and shimmery. There are two sentries still awake, watching the constructs with mild interest. There's also a larger wolf near the center of the group; probably the alpha. None of them have noticed you yet; you have the element of surprise, for now. What will you do? PLAYERS: Con Air: HP-200/200 Inventory-Nothing obeast: HP-200/200 Inventory-Nothing Sailor: HP-200/200 Inventory-Nothing telaxius: HP-200/200 Inventory-Nothing NothingIsOkay: HP-200/200 Inventory-Nothing ENEMIES:Lesser Divine Constructs (X20) HP-15/15 Greater Divine Constructs (X5) HP-40/40 Crystal Golems (X2) HP-150/150 Arcane Wolves (X11) HP-35/35 [X9 ASLEEP] Alpha Arcane Wolf (X1) HP-60/60 [ASLEEP] Divine Crystal: 300/300 HP ALLIES: None. Seems you're not good at making friends. ITEMS:Scythe- Just a good ol' classic scythe. Perfect for harvesting wheat or scaring small children. Hot Glue Gun- It seems to be...battery powered? Eh, you'll take it. Comes with just one gluestick, though. [USES: 5] Battlespork- A hilariously oversized spork. It somehow manages to be ineffective both as a combat weapon AND a utensil. Batrachomancer's Wand: This small, lime-green wand seems to have no purpose other than summoning a 1/1 Toad or Salamander once per turn. Elder-English Dictionary: A thick, musty tome for translating simple phrases from English to the Black Speech of the Blasphemed Ones. It is purring softly, which upsets you on several levels. Impractical Throwing Knives: A set of absolutely awesome-looking knives that will almost certainly lacerate your hand if you try to use them in an actual knife fight. Pyromancer's gloves: A set of gloves that produce a small spark when you snap your fingers. Useless in rain. Goose Tape: A roll of tape printed with tiny geese. Robe of Meats: A robe with its many pockets stuffed full of various delicious-smelling cooked meats. You look to the pack of wolves, then back to this item. The Spark has a pretty cruel sense of humor sometimes. Rubber Mallet- A large mallet with which to hit things. Pretty straightforward. TERRAIN:

Liking the Undertale-esque art style! I reap the wolves with the scythe. You jump down from the balcony scythe in hand, cackling madly as you swing it around in a sweeping motion. You manage to catch 3 of the wolves off guard with your attack, dealing 10 damage each. However, the yelping and noise from the injured is more than enough to wake up the others. Now you are surrounded by a pack of wolves, and BOY do they look unhappy. I wave the Robe of Meats around while making noise to get the wolves' attention and then throw it at one of the Lesser Divine Constructs. A new hero stumbles out of a passing dimensional rift! You bait the wolves with the smell of succulent meat before tossing the robe at one of the lower-floating Lesser Divine Constructs. Many of them are too smart to take the bait, but three of the dumber (or maybe just hungrier) ones are not, leaping at the construct and knocking it to the ground, shattering its central crystal. (+10 Grist for creativity) The death of the constuct triggers some kind of automatic defense protocol. Ten of the Lesser Divine Constructs form a tight defensive pattern around the Divine Crystal, creating a shield of magical energy and whirling stone around its lower half. Three of the Lesser Constructs and one of the Greater ones begin to aggress the three wolves squabbling over the meat, peppering them with magical bolts and causing 15 damage each. The rest, however, begin to scan the area for threats, and settle on your group as the most dangerous. I take the throwing knives, light them with the gloves and use the heated 1000 Degree Throwing Knives on the crystal golems, on their face place. You try to heat up the Impractical Throwing Knives with the Pyromancer's Gloves, but are unsuccessful; they're more like a flint and steel than a blowtorch. You'll need something to burn if you want to make any real heat! You manage to heat the knives a little bit, though. You throw them at the Crystal Golem's face; however, they are made of solid blue crystal! Cutting attacks aren't very efficient. The Golem brushes off the attack with minimal damage (-10 HP). However, its sight seems to have been hindered somewhat. The awfully-designed knives cut into your hand as you throw them, but the gloves protect from some of the damage. -3 HP. I take the Elder-English Dictionary, the Goose Tape, and the Rubber mallet. I attach the Elder-English Dictionary to the end of the mallet using the tape. I then quietly approach the alpha Arcane Wolf, and smash it with the New Elder-English Mallet. You stealthily sneak around the wolf pack and prepare to make a move on the Alpha Arcane Wolf. The wolves, still groggy and distracted by Con Air and venchi's antics, don't see you coming. Ten solid pounds of xenolinguistics send the Alpha Arcane wolf flying, dealing 30 damage! (+5 Grist to telaxius, Con Air and Venchi for setting up and exploiting a distraction) I use the Hot Glue Gun and Goose Tape to attach the Knives to the prongs of the BattleSpork and stab the wolves with the result. You grab the Hot Glue Gun and Goose Tape, but the Knives were already taken by Sailor! You just jump down and sort of poke one of the wolves with the Battlespork instead, to moderate success. The wolf is nearly dead! I put on the Pyromancer's gloves, and go to town snapping towards the wolves, hoping to catch some fur on fire. You try to put on the Pyromancer's gloves, but they seem to have been taken by Sailor already! You just sort of hang around on the balcony in mild confusion. ENEMY ACTION: The wolves, under assault from all sides, pull back into a defensive formation against the wall, moving the Alpha and their injured to the back. Well, most of them do; two of them stay by the crystal, squabbling with each other and the constructs. One of them swats a Lesser Construct, knocking it back and doing 5 damage. Two of the wolves in the formation lunge at Con Air, one tries to bite telaxius, and one tries to bite obeast. The Alpha growls deeply, and his eyes seem to glow as blue patterns suddenly become visible in his fur. Seems like this one might know magic. Three of the Lesser Divine Constructs and one Greater Divine Construct continue their fight with the wolves. One Greater Construct, shielded by 2 Lesser Constructs, takes aim at venchi. Two Lesser Constructs take aim at Sailor up on the balcony, and one takes aim at NothingIsOkay. The two golems start to move in towards the group. Three of the Greater Constructs link together via some kind of magical beam; they seem to be charging an attack. (Note: If your name is in bold red, you're being attacked and need to do something about that or lose HP next turn.) PLAYERS: Con Air: 200/200 HP (Inventory: Scythe) (On Ground) (GRIST: 5) obeast: 200/200 HP (Inventory: Hot Glue Gun, Goose Tape) (On Ground) (GRIST: 5) Sailor: 197/200 HP (Inventory: Slightly-Heated Impractical Throwing Knives) (On Balcony) (GRIST: 0) telaxius: 200/200 HP (Inventory: Elder-English Mallet, Goose Tape) (On Ground) (GRIST: 0) NothingIsOkay: 200/200 HP (Inventory: Nothing) (On Balcony) (GRIST: 0) venchi: 200/200 HP Inventory-(Inventory: Nothing) (On Ground) (GRIST: 15) ENEMIES:Lesser Divine Constructs: 15/15 HP (X6) 15/15 HP (X10) (Defending Crystal) 15/15 HP (X2) (Fighting Wolves) 10/15 HP (X1) (Fighting Wolves)

Seems you're not good at making friends. ITEMS:Batrachomancer's Wand: This small, lime-green wand seems to have no purpose other than summoning a 1/1 Toad or Salamander once per turn. Automatic Reset in (2) turns. TERRAIN:
A circular worship-room scattered with fallen pillars, broken statues, shards of shattered glass and a few benches. There is an archway on the other side of the room blocked by a barrier, and a large balcony overlooking the whole room. Current Objective: Get past the barrier and to the next room. (Note: Everyone gets 2 actions. I do though try to observe the Divine Crystal to find weaknesses.
If anyone's willing to give any sort of item to this humble player, I will be happy to instantly oblige.

I acquire the Battlespork and throw it against a fallen pillar and effectively snap the end off, transforming it into a surprisingly dangerous Large Plastic Shard. I then use this to stab the Alpha Wolf. (EDIT: NINJA'D BY THE MODERATOR) Another warrior phases in from an adjacent subplane! Sadly, it seems the Battlespork was already taken by obeast; however, the gods neglected to list it as being in obeast's inventory! This likely caused confusion. In penance for their error, the Gods grant you a LVL 999 STABFIST (coincidentally the same power level as a Large Plastic Shard) for ten seconds! You attempt to stab-punch the Alpha Wolf, but one of the wolves defending him blocks the attack! It takes 15 damage. The stabfist wears off. Believing that the constructs use some kind of light based attack I pick up a shard of glass and try to reflect it at the Alpha. Afterwards, successful or not I take shelter behind the nearest statue and observe the Golems. You pick up one of the larger glass shards and attempt to reflect the Greater Construct's magic beam. It's a success-however, the glass shard instantly heats up to unbearable levels, burning your hands and cutting them slightly as you drop it. -5 HP. As luck would have it, the reflected beam flies squarely into the Alpha Wolf! None of the others can do anything about it, and he takes the full brunt of the beam. It's not full strength-some of the energy was lost in the bounce-but it still packs a punch! 20 damage dealt. You proceed to take cover and observe the golems. They're huge, slow, lumbering creatures, easily three times taller than a human, with massive club-like arms. They're made of hard, translucent blue crystal, and, unlike other, cruder golems you've seen, these ones seem expertly crafted, with intricate sigils on their chests. Only the best for divinity. The heads of the spears they carry are made of the same crystal, and are very pointy and painful-looking. They seem to have no magical attributes, but they honestly don't need them. The hard crystal they're made of reflects magical and light-based attacks, and resists cutting weapons like swords and knives. A good solid blunt weapon ought to do the trick, though. And you may be able to fracture them, if you hit them at a weak point... I fiercely bark at the dog, to hopefully intimidate it enough to make it not attack me. After that I run away and hide behind one of the other people, hopefully so I can use them as a human shield if I need to. I also grab the Batrachomancer's Wand, I don't need it now, but I want to be able to use it later. You bark sharply and fiercely at the opposing wolf. Surprised, it flinches slightly-just enough time for you to get away, but not quite enough to avoid a sudden swipe! -5 HP. You hide behind obeast, who is nearby. I duck under the wolf, then slice its throat with my scythe. You successfully duck underneath the wolf, slitting its throat as it flies over you in dramatic slo-mo. The wolf lands on the floor a corpse. You bask in glory for just a brief instant... And then realize you completely forgot about the other wolf. In a flash it's on top of you, a horrifying mess of drool, fur and fangs, growling and snapping as you struggle to hold its jaws away from your throat. -25 HP! I still just sort of stand around, seeing as I have no items, and none are left. I just take my medication and sit it out for a bit. I do though try to observe the Divine Crystal to find weaknesses. If anyone's willing to give any sort of item to this humble player, I will be happy to instantly oblige. No item is forthcoming, sadly. The arcane bolt from the Lesser Construct hits you directly in the gut, causing you to double over in pain! -10 HP You try to get to a safer position on the balcony and observe the Divine Crystal. It's a massive, oblong chunk of solid crystal hanging from the ceiling, its tip hanging just a few feet above the altar in the center of the room. Line upon line of tiny, intricate runes coat its surface, some of them glowing or flashing occasionally. You can barely make out a deep humming coming from it. It's the central coordinating intelligence for the room, and probably this whole area of the temple. It can do nothing physical on its own, but it will continue to summon more constructs to protect itself until it is destroyed or the threat (you) is neutralized. It's made of hard crystal that will be difficult to damage with a cutting weapon like a sword. A nice blunt weapon like a club or hammer should, though. And hitting the corners might increase the chance of a chip or fracture. Obeast hunkers down and absorbs the wolf's attack! Telaxius jumps out of the way as the wolf grabs hold of obeast's leg and pulls them to the ground. -20 HP Sailor hunkers down and absorbs the Lesser Divine Constructs' attacks! -15 HP ENEMY ACTION:The Alpha is seriously injured, but not killed, and not deterred! The other wolves jump out of the way and break the formation as the Alpha unleashes his attack. The runes in his fur glow white-hot for a moment, and he lets out a devastatingly powerful BARK . A wave of lightning hurtles towards Con Air, Telaxius, scintillatingVigilante and obeast! They're no longer pinned, thankfully, but there's still, you know, lightning. Meanwhile, one of the wolves actually finishes off one of the Lesser Constructs. Two Lesser Constructs fire more bolts of magical energy at NothingIsOkay, while one fires a bolt at Sailor. The three linked Greater Constructs keep charging their attack, blue sparks jumping between the three of them. The unlinked construct switches tactics, firing a meandering, slow-moving ball of energy towards venchi. Three Lesser Constructs join up to shield the three linked Greater Constructs, leaving the unlinked construct unguarded. The Lesser Constructs cause 10 more damage to the wolves, while the Greater Construct reduces one of them to slag. The remaining wolf flees to join the others. Seems you're not good at making friends. ITEMS:Temporary Third Eye Tattoo: On of those peel-off and apply tattoos of a rather menacing-looking eye. You might see some things you don't want to see if you use this. Things nobody is meant to see. Crossbow: A simple but powerful ranged weapon. It's practically useless without arrows, however, and ammo will be hard to find in this place. Bottomless Quiver of Arrows: Well that's convenient. Store-Brand Froot Loops: An off-brand sugary cereal named "Frooty Rings". The box probably has more nutritional value than the contents. Tastes better, too. Bowling Ball: A bright pink bowling ball. That's, uh, just about all there is to say on the matter, they can't all be frog wands. Brass Knuckles: To give your punches a little extra...punch, I guess? Punchiness? Punchosity? Flail: A wooden pole with a spiked iron ball attached to the end via metal chain. Not recommended for playing tetherball with. Tank of Kerosene: A very flammable and inflammable liquid. TERRAIN:
A circular worship-room scattered with fallen pillars, broken statues, shards of shattered glass and a few benches. There is an archway on the other side of the room blocked by a barrier, and a large balcony overlooking the whole room. BESTIARY:
Crystal Golems: Huge, slow, lumbering creatures, easily three times taller than a human, with massive club-like arms. They're made of hard, translucent blue crystal, and, unlike other, cruder golems, these ones seem expertly crafted, with intricate sigils on their chests.
