I would also like to add cosmiclocked to the AOTW list as it is being written/made by some good friends of mine, (albeit relatively new).

I'll write it down on the list, but I probably won't feature it till it has some more pages One of the things I want Adventures of the Week to have is giving readers something to read for a while, so 13 pages is a bit low. 100+ is the sweet spot, but isn't a requirement. but I'll keep it in mind if it continues longer

How would one Upload a .gif of sorts to the site? I tried using gifmaker.me, and I'm scared to use any other sites CAUSE COMPUTERS ARE MORE OF A CORNERED MAZE THAN MY OWN MIND. Thanks in advance.

Since you're using gifmaker, you first: 1.) Download the gif 2.) Upload the downloaded gif to imgur 3.) Copy the image address into the Image box (basically the same way you post a regular image)

Hey, sorry to post as an Anon and run, but I've been working at getting my images to quit breaking for several hours and nothing seems to be working. Somehow I got one of my dropbox links for the first panel to work earlier, but then the image promptly broke a few hours later and won't show up again on my comic. Here's the e-mail I sent explaining the situation: "Hello, I've been struggling with my very first fanventure comic page for several hours. I've been reading, looking at sparse guides, sifting through forums, reading introductory/walkthrough fanventure comics, etc., but I can't seem to get my first panel to stay working and in order. I created a new comic just today titled "Bloodstuck." It took me several tries to get the preview icon for the comic to appear, and it took me even longer to get the first panel's icon to appear. However, it seems that the image broke only a few hours after I finally got it to show up. I have no clue what happened, but now I am totally unable to use any images from my dropbox to use as a panel image. This is incredibly annoying, and I really just want to start sharing my comic with my watchers and friends, as well as the mirror site's community. Which link am I supposed to copy specifically, because copying the shared address of the image in my dropbox doesn't work, opening the gif in a new tab and copying that address doesn't work, right-clicking and copying the image address that way doesn't work. One of these ways did work earlier, as I said, but now the image just shows up as broken. Can someone please help me with this? I had even created a new dropbox account to try and use the image link from that one, and it didn't work. I don't know what else to do here, and from what I've seen dropbox is supposed to be one of the best options for image links. Thank you for your time. My MS Paint Fanventure username is SavannaEGoth." I'm posting it here as well to hopefully get a speedy answer as I'm really trying to get this comic off the ground, but am being held up on the first panel. Thanks to anyone who can help me out. Comic link is here: mspfanventures.com/?s=18919&p=1

Sorry to be a bother again--but is there a reason as to why the already visited/clicked on links are white now? I mean theyre a little hard to see for me--but maybe it has to do with the dropbox notice up top! That notice is rather swell for those users who use dropbox and is quite helpful !

Dropbox has two ways of hosting images and stuff, only one of which is disabled.

Yes, the public folder is going to be disabled, which is the way to post images on websites, host files for people to download, etc. The only other way to show Dropbox files to others is through a "shared" link, for example this, which as you can see does not link to the image directly, and thus cannot be used for posting on forums or hosting on sites. If one tries to be sneaky and find a direct image link through the shared page, for example this, you can see it doesn't display. Dropbox wants to stop being a file/image host, basically, and be more like Google Drive and the like, where people can only see images on its own website through its own means. So while it's true there are two ways of sharing an image via Dropbox at the moment, there's only one way to post an image to forums, and that is the method that is being disabled. Thusly, Dropbox is not viable for forum adventures anymore. It can still be used to keep a backup of your images, but posting them through public links is going away.

All you have to do is change the www.dropbox.com to dl.dropbox.com like this.

Considering dl.dropbox is also what's used for shared public links, I highly doubt those will be usable after March 15. You're essentially just changing a shared link into a public link.

So will CSS be affected by this dropbox change? I hosted it on dropbox and used to dl.dropbox as this tutorial instructed me to--I hope that isn't the case.

I think I misunderstood some things earlier. You can indeed turn any shared link into a direct link with the dl.dropbox trick, even if it's not in a Public folder, and Googling doesn't give me any results confirming or denying that that specific domain will break come March 15, but I'm really not hopeful about it. That page does not mention the link changing trick specifically, just that the Public folder is going away. But since the dl.dropbox domain is the domain used with public folders, that's why I fear anything under that domain won't work after the change, even if you change a link in a non-public folder. This move is definitely to save bandwidth (and money), so it feels like to me they'd disable the one way to share something directly in order to do it. I'd rather be safe than sorry, and advise others to be as well. Even if you're correct and edited Dropbox links from non-public folders end up still working, I'd still have to edit all my links, because they use slightly different formatting than the public ones. And I'm sure that's true of many others as well. So will CSS be affected by this dropbox change? I hosted it on dropbox and used to dl.dropbox as this tutorial instructed me to--I hope that isn't the case. It depends on what I said above, really. If all dl.dropbox links break, then yes, it'd have to be hosted elsewhere. If not, you're safe! Good catch, too--I have CSS in my Dropbox folders I totally forgot I was hosting from there... My best advice would be to seek out an alternative just in case. Never hurts to prepare when a company does a huge change like this.

I'm going to go ahead and recommend TLCStuck: Double Death of an Author for AOTW. I've heard it's got a mixed opinion in the community but honestly, it's pretty fantastic. It has gotten a lot stronger since its inception and is creating a really narratively strong alternate ending to Homestuck. It also has some of the coolest flashes I've seen on this site, like Play The Rain. Overall, I feel TLCStuck deserves a bit more positive attention than it gets and definitely deserves Adventure of the Week.

On the subject of AoTW, I hadn't mentioned it before since it was already recommended once, but I feel I should say I certainly second the notion of Octave: Scales by Eight as a good choice.
