I was wondering if I can make a gif with only free programs. Looks like I succeeded.

If you're having trouble, then can I recommend to you Krita? It's a free art program that has some animation tools included (like a timeline and onion skin) that help with gif making. It's what I used for my gif because I don't have Photoshop.

Oh, and you're also going to need VirtualDub (which is also free) so that you can turn the animation into a gif since Krita can't do that. Krita, however, can export the animation into a PNG file, which you're going to need for VirtualDub.

There's no pressure detection, so the lines come out like this, I've been getting better though! And Pixlr's layout is really nice, It just takes some getting used to. I usually download each frame and load it onto Ezgif. But, I'm an animation newb so I've only made very few animationes so far

What I use is GIMP, which can export images as animated gifs without relying on other programs. I think it also has pressure detection, but I'm not sure since I draw with a mouse and thus haven't had any reason to look into this. The UI is not particularly intuitive, though.

Some versions of GIMP have issues with tablet support. You can use pressure sensitivity and set what the pressure does (line width or opacity, and a whole bunch of other options that I have no idea what they do) but you have to open GIMP with the tablet, not your mouse, and you have to turn the ruler off or you'll have serious lag. Like, lines going everywhere lag.

I still use GIMP for some drawings, putting frames together, and general image editing, as I find its UI to be the most intuitive, funnily enough. Like Blizzriel said, the tablet support is complete shit (I think it's going to be fixed in version 2.10). I just build up brush strokes or taper my lines with the eraser. Fun fact: all of my image manips were made in GIMP, like this one, and this one (oh and how could I forget this one in particular?) GIMP has a Dynamic Option that makes your lines smoother: As far as I know, Photoshop doesn't have such an option I know, I know. These are terrible. I agree. I really like the robot one! Nice use of lighting and shadows

A little line practice I did last night. This is the first full-body I've ever drawn that actually looks good.
