It's Pi Day, so you know what that means... MSPA Madness is back for 2022! You know mainly what this is going to be, so if you want to just go ahead... Here is the qualifying voting for this year's contest!okay now onto the boilerplate stuff that i'm probably going to copy from last year's thread
Welcome once again, to the tenth annual MSPA Madness tournament, where you get to vote for who the "best" [citation needed] character from all of Andrew Hussie's works: From Homestuck to Jailbreak, from Friendsim to Inappropriate Time for Ham, from Homestuck^2 to Zoosmells. Yes, the first one of these was back in 2013. Next year will be the tenth anniversary, and boy do I have a surprise~ Anyway, with how many different characters there have been, trying to do a tournament with all of these characters would probably take months, if not years. It wouldn't finish in time for April 13th, the slated standard ending time because Homestuck. As such, you get to participate in the qualifying voting, ranking your top characters to get into the tournament proper. But what if your favorite character is from some little minor thing, like Wizardy Herbert? How will they ever get the popularity to appear over the likes of literally anyone from Homestuck? Well, every group of characters will get at least one character in them, assuming there's a vote for them. So long as you put them on your favorites, they (or a character from the same thing as them) will be there at least. Prior FAQ: Q: Do I have to fill up all 64 slots?A: Nope! You can do as many or as few as you want. If you like a character, vote for them; if you don't, leave them off. No really, last year, there was someone who put in a protest vote for a character at 64th, and they qualified because of that vote. new this year i finally decided to not be lazy and actually allow you to just end the vote after each set of sixteen no more mashing forwards!!! Q: Are these two characters the same person?A: Right off the top of my head, if it's akin to The Condesce and Meenah or Mom Lalonde and Roxy, they are surely separate. If you still aren't sure, just put them both down anyways. As long as it's not intentional duplication (like a response I had before that answered literally every question with Jane Crocker), I'll overlook it. And it's still the same name because once again, everyone was good and didn't do this! Q: What should I put for this character's name?A: Since I record the votes manually, it doesn't matter what name you put down, as long as I can figure out what character it is. So if it's from something obscure, feel free to put a note saying where. I might not recall that Stelth is from And It Don't Stop. Q: Wait, And It Don't Stop? You mean I can literally pick anything from Hussie and throw it in here?A: Correct! If he had a part in making it, anything from it is eligible to be voted for. Q: Where can I find some of the old comics?A: Unfortunately, the website containing Hussie's old works was taken down. I normally have an Internet Archive link here, but that seems to not be working either. When in doubt, Google is always a friend. And so, with all the niceties out of the way, it's time to start the voting for the 2022 MSPA Madness tournament!

Hi going to quickly update here: The bracket is going to be delayed. Why? Well... turns out that there aren't enough votes to fill it up. It's close though: 65 total slots (but four are contingent on a preliminary round). Therefore, I'm going to delay by a day and hope that there's enough votes to fill it out, and take a day off the semifinals (so it'll only be three days instead of four). If I don't get anything by the end of the day, though, It's gonna be a bigger difference: The preliminary round will be cancelled and so there will only be 64 slots available rather than 68. And if that still isn't enough by Thursday (when the first round was going to start), I'll probably drop the slots to 48. So yes, if you haven't voted yet, there's still time to do so, but who knows how long this will last because if I can get it done today, I will.

So, first things first, here's the current tiebreaker method for if a vote ended tied. This is totally not foreshadowing. Trust me when I say that we didn't have a tied match here. Going through the votes in order, see what the standings are after each vote, and then take the average of that. So, if the votes were something like... ABBAAABBABAB we'd have A+1 =0 B+1 =0 A+1 A+2 A+1 =0 A+1 =0 A+1 =0, for an average of A+.5, which means that A wins. If this is tied, whoever had the largest lead at any point wins, then whoever had the most leads, when whoever had the first lead.
Don't like this? Well have I got news for you: In the finals, there's going to be a question specifically on how to deal with ties, and I am more than willing to hear your ideas. because there weren't any last year OKAY so with that out of the way for something that isn't ever going to come up, here we go:
For the Cake Divsion, between Rose Lalonde and John Egbert, the winner is...hi so you know that tie example i gave before? yeah that was literally this So... with an average vote lead of half a vote, the winner is...JOHN EGBERT For the Pumpkin Divsion, between Roxy Lalonde and Nepeta Leijon, the winner is...ROXY LALONDE with 58.3% of the vote For the Meat Divsion, between Terezi Pyrope and Jade Harley, the winner is...TEREZI PYROPE with 63.6% of the vote For the Candy Divsion, between Karkat Vantas and Kanaya Maryam, the winner is...I was telling the truth when I said we didn't have a tied match, because this was also a tie! With an average vote lead of a third of a vote, the winner is...KANAYA MARYAM
And so, with all the formalities out of the way, it's time to VOTE IN THE FINISHING FOUR TODAY!!!

Well, we're down to just one last round. Who are they going to be:
With 63.33% of the vote, our first finalist is...
ROXY LALONDE over John Egbert
With 60% of the vote, the other finalist is...
TEREZI PYROPE over Kanaya Maryam
And so, the finals are open for voting! Now, just a little note before you get in, once finishing, you'll have three options for what to do next: - Contest feedback: Let me know what's going on about the contest, what you liked or didn't, and ideas for the future. - Additional voting: This has the third and fifth place votes, as well as other, minor, funny votes which are absolutely my favorite thing - Submit: here's my vote and get out Make sure to choose the earliest one you want to do, as it'll only head forwards. And with that: MSPA Madness 2022 FINALS

And here we are for the finals: Who will win and who will take the lesser prizes? Well, there's barely any lesser prizes so let's get those done first: Most Surprising Upset:Psycholonials characters getting to the first round
yeah there was only one person who named these and not only is it not really an upset but they lost every match so oh well Biggest Overperformer:Roxy Lalonde Best Character Left Out:Eridan Ampora
in this house wwe stan the wwizard troll Character Most Screwed Over by Bracket:Xefros's Lusus
the sole response was "whoever had to go against problem sleuth" so... uh... yeah And sadly, none of the two custom consolation awards are going to be posted because one of them was essentially restated from these questions, and one of them uses some... questionable language that I won't repeat.
And so, without further ado, the top eight finishers in order: 8th: Rose Lalonde - 0%7th: Karkat Vantas - 22.2%6th: Nepeta Leijon - 33.3%5th: Jade Harley - 44.4%4th: Kanaya Maryam - 44.4%3rd: John Egbert - 55.5%AND YOUR WINNER IS...: 2nd: Roxy Lalonde - 46.2% 1st: Terezi Pyrope - 53.8%
