Memers pls go, we don't need your dankness getting all over this thread.
In unrelated news HOLY CRAP GUYS BIG MOM IS CRAZY. I'm also kind of iffy on Luffy taking her down, on the one hand she's an unrelenting force that is willing to kill just for ingredients to her tea party, on the other she walks the walk and talks the talk when it comes to making the people in her territories happy.

Okay so I'm double posting but I have to ask, does anyone here watch GATE? Because my roommate just showed me a bunch of random clips of it on Youtube and I have no idea what to say about other than it looks like a bizarre cross between Fire Emblem and Call of Duty.

Yeah, I've watched it. It is basically just a mixture of modern military and fantasy. It's not a great anime, but there IS something satisfying about seeing people shoot a dragon with an RPG.

I suppose, but the entire time we were watching it we were just like "WTF" at the entire scenario. Like, it was so completely one sided with every conflict it was almost laughable.

I'd say that's a pretty apt description of the entire series. It also gets a bit harem-ey.

It's super Japanese nationalistic so the entire thing is basically propaganda about how cool and perfect the Japanese military is. I've only seen one episode myself but I have friends who have read or seen a lot of it and they can confirm this.

Lately I've mainly been watching Mobile Suit Gundam. Ever since I was young, I've always enjoyed the designs of the Gundams themselves, owning several action figures and gunpla kits, so how it took me so long to actually watch it is a mystery to me. There seems to be a lot of series out there, too, which is honestly a bit intimidating (I'm a bit of a lazy person). But I'm really, really enjoying the first so far (on episode 19 now). The story is really interesting, so I guess if this is the place for that, I highly recommend it. It has somewhat dated animation, though. While I don't mind it in the slightest, it's still probably something I should mention.Aside from that, I've been avidly watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4. It's fantastic so far, and has already established itself as my favorite part of Jojo's (among the first four which I have experienced so far, that is). My favourite Gundam series has got to be Mobile Fighter: G Gundam, even if it has the least to do with the other Gundam series. It's like Punchout!! but with Gundams; every nation (or Neo Nation I guess) gets their own Gundam Fighter to participate in a tournament for control of the remains of the Earth. Plus, the protagonist Domon Kasshu was an inspiration for Gurren Lagann's Kamina and Simon. I've been getting back into watching a lot more anime recently and just finished marathoning The Seven Deadly Sins and am starting The Heroic Legend of Arslan before catching this weeks Boku no Hero Academia. Good stuff.

My favourite Gundam series has got to be Mobile Fighter: G Gundam [...] Seems interesting; I've been excited to get to that one since I first heard of it, actually. Right now I'm on Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, the second in the series. It's really good so far, with an almost shocking improvement in animation from the original Mobile Suit Gundam. I absolutely love the retro futuristic setting, and again I am wondering why I didn't begin watching Gundam sooner. The main protagonist of this one was a bit difficult to like at first, though.

Gundam UC is my favorite stuff. The alternate universe shows are great, but I love the Universal Century series like the original, Zeta, War in the Pocket, Stardust Memories, etc. I love expansive shared universes that actually feel like they're alive, and that is definitely one of them. A lot of the shows (like Seed) just feel like shoddy versions of the original universe to me.

So the DiU anime is the best the Jojo anime has ever been pretty much (despite some aesthetic issues). I'm looking forward to every episode so much now. I mean, I love Part 4 already but they just NAIL the adaptation every time.

Anyone else here watching Kiznaiver? I am. It's pretty alright. It is one of only two currently airing shows I'm watching that I don't wish I wasn't watching. Like Luluco more at the moment though. God damn, Luluco.

Luluco is pretty crazy I'm not gonna lie, I like how it's pretty much a giant celebration of everything those creators have made over the years.

Really I think Cory in the House is one of the best animes of all time. Along with Neon Genesis Evangelion and Beavis and Butthead.

Anyone's watching Assassination Classroom? The anime's at its end but season 2 was pretty alright overall, despite...that one plot element that felt too rushed (the one with Kayano). Else, Jojo DiU is on my watchlist too. Pretty good so far, even though I prefer the 2012 adaptation of Parts 1 & 2. As for the manga, I'm currently following Jojolion, while asking myself whether this is a good idea to adapt all 8 parts (and potentially more) into anime. (even if, anime Giorno...that'd be sweet.)
By the way, does anyone remember Zatch Bell? It was a good anime.

I watched the first couple episodes of Assassination Classroom with one of my friends, and then she watched some more later and told me apparently it gets into tentacle stuff? I'm not sure how true that is, but I am NOT a fan of that so I haven't watched any more since she told me that.

Think of it as Splatoon, but with less ink and more tentacle.

Okay I thought assassination classroom was some dumb edgy mirai nikki tier shit but now that I've read into it, it seems like something I'd actually watch. Will look onto it soon, as I'm on break and basically have all the time in the world.

Assassination classroom's anime has ended after two seasons. #NoSpoiler, but the final was...alright, I guess. #Spoilery review under the cut. They really put a lot of tension for nothing. It was kind of predictable, and they only added the second season's story arc of "Let's save Koro-sensei" for the final choice to be much more of a twist, but it was kind of weak. Still, episodes were funny, and the Shinigami's story was an interesting one. However, suddenly revealing Kayano's tentacles out of the blue, even if it could introduce this story arc, was a bad idea with absolutely no foreshadowing. I wish they had given a better role to the headmaster, cause he seemed like so much of an enemy, but it ends...yeah. I've seen better. Good thing that his "centipede thingy" was left to speculation. Karma x Gakushu all the way.
TL;DR: It was good overall, but kind of unsatisfactory.

Personally, I just enjoyed the dark humour of it all. Something about kids smiling and saying "Yay, we almost killed him!" is pretty entertaining. Though I agree that the ending wasn't great.

Did not see the spoilers, but maybe the manga has a better ending? It seems to be a pattern of bad anime/anime with confusing or bad ending = good manga/manga with good ending
