Oh hey this is a cool thread. I don't really have immediate access to old stuff I did (it was hosted on imageshack and all that is down now, I guess it's somewhere on one of my backups though). But if we gonna talk about old times, I'm so up for that. I miss the times that people like mysteriousOutsider, mythicalWashrag, colwag, ArmsAreLoud, Doom Zero, P_equals_NP, bloodyEmissary, AceOfDarkHearts and other people like them used to be active on the forums. Some of them are still around on the Skype chats (colwag and Doom Zero for example) and I really like that. I'm so happy that now that the end is coming old people like you, Shadow of the Lotus, are popping back up again. Things used to be so different on the forums, what with how different moderators and admins were running the show. Who remembers the quote/spoiler pyramids? And Esrever, the pyramid slayer? And all our silly avatar fads (god bless Holly for using that particular avatar here )? Or our endless Vriska discussions and the silly laws we came up with? I miss the times that Esrever, Drillgorg, tynic, Andrew and the like used to be omnipresent. It's just weird to see how much has changed the past 5 years. I recognize each and every one of those names and dang do I really miss those days. The quote pyramids were great and I miss them a lot. Actually if I can access my old dropbox I may have some old avatars from those fads that I can resurrect. I certainly remember avoiding the quarantine thread like the plague haha. Esrever and Drillgorg, love those two they did great jobs modding and admining. I remember when ashdonj got mod and everyone was psyched about it, I also remember the push from everyone to try and get Holly mod cause she's the literal loveliest person in existence. EDIT: Discovered some Skaianet Avatars (From the Skaianet v. Crockercorp) and all the avatar redraws I did for my 1111th post specularnaodm. Guess whose I happened to find in there Blap ;P

I don't remember shipping names being as much of a thing back then. Yeah. Grimdorks was uh... shoot, I forget the fella who pushed it really. The guy who runs the fuckyeahjohnrose.tumblr.com site I think. And it's a fine name. But it wasn't really used prior to the John/Rose v. Kanaya/Rose fights. It was just "John/Rose."

I used to ship John Rose pretty hard before Act 6 Intermission 3 cemented her as lesbian, haha. For a long time I thought John Rose and Dave Jade, like Karkat predicted, would be the actual endgame ships. I guess Dave Jade does still stand a chance through Davepetasprite^2 Jade though. EDIT: Discovered some Skaianet Avatars (From the Skaianet v. Crockercorp) and all the avatar redraws I did for my 1111th post specularnaodm. Guess whose I happened to find in there Blap ;P Oh man.

Ah, the good ol' MSPA forum days. I remember when we were still posting fanfic in one thread and fanmusic in one thread and they were both little communities.
Now Homestuck's tag on Archive Of Our Own is terrifyingly huge.
I am still proud of going into the "What's Into The Box, Jack?" thread right after the update that showed that the bunny was in the box, editing the bunny into the relevant box, and declaring that the thread was over.

Wow, this is a pretty cool thread. I'm not one of the older guys, but it is cool to see y'all reminiscing, helps me get a feel for what it must have been like. Speaking of image manips... There were also versions with tons more characters? Oh hey Blap's tumblr One of the things I can vaguely remember is that I think I saw one of the versions of this as someone's avatar in a forum I used to go to sometime before I ever got into Homestuck. I didn't know what it was and didn't make anything of it at the time, but later I recognized it when I started learning about all the memes and stuff, and remembered. I remember so many people. It was just all about the community for me. I remember when I really used to have a ton to say, but now my life is a little busier and I haven't found the time. I regret going dark for a little while, I wish I had said more of what was on my mind back in the day, even if it was just simpler stuff what other people had already said. Does anyone remember that time the Syrians hacked us? That seems like so long ago. Or that time Caliborn got a deviantart account? Or when we candycorns in our sigs? If we could bring that back, I'd have a lot of corns I'd need to swap out for other things. I'm a very different person after those 4-ish years. When I first joined the forums and was looking around at all the rules and stuff, there was still something about candy corn sigs and other stuff like that. There were hundreds for just about everything. I think I saved the page where all the corns and what they meant was, and was poring through them looking at which ones I would choose. Of course, image sigs were not really in vogue, so I never went through with that.

Remind me, did you ever borrow a fruit edit I did to use as an avatar? You're one of the oldest faces I've seen so far I think. I swear someone had this orange Dave as an avatar for a few days back when I made it.

Shit, I think I've got my old avatar memes around here somewhere. I'll have to go dig them up--I've been finding a lot of my old nostalgia content as I've been transferring files over to the new PC.

I tend to remember the rules that got out in place during my time. Like not calling out when you got top post on a page, no slurring the characters, no more mpreg art, contentfull posts...
I was mostly a lurker maybe up until around the John walk around? I remember getting involved in the romspec thread until that got closed, then I hung around the vriska thread when it got revived. Who was that, triga or someone? It was good times.
Actually I remember something I used to do, after the briska thing, I started claiming there was hidden pirate ship in every update. People would scour the images trying to find it. Someone made an outline in stars on one page. Eventually a pirate ship showed up in comic so maybe that was me? You never call tell with Huss.
Stuff I will take credit for was what they would eat on the meteor, and how they cleaned they clothes. I talked about it a lot, they showed in the comic after a while. I also joking claim I got Huss to propose to vriska, as I made a suggestion about that in the vriska thread around the time he was lurking there.
That's one thing I miss, the random Hussie appearances.

I remember looking through the older threads on the forums to see people's reactions to updates that happened years ago. I also liked looking through the older Different Context and Image Manipulation threads. They made me laugh so much. I also liked listening to the music albums, but I've bought most of them now (I'm slowly trying to get them all). I can remember on another forum site that's unrelated, people on there who read the comic would talk about it, and one time we kept on saying our favourite quotes and posting links to our favourite panels. And I know it was recent, but I remember that update which asked for selfies, and we all did it X) It was good to see everyone's faces, and know just what kinds of people liked it.

We actually chatted some. A face I remember (and The One Guy too). Shit, I think I've got my old avatar memes around here somewhere. I'll have to go dig them up--I've been finding a lot of my old nostalgia content as I've been transferring files over to the new PC. (SoTL, it's been forever. Good to see you around!) And another familiar face. Hi Zuki! And yeah, definitely remember the Forapocalypse. That felt like one of the last times I was really active. My economic discussion on crack and whores is lost to the world.

Oh, hey! I remember some things that happened all the way back in 2015! I would have posted earlier, but I had monumentally bad luck with the computer upon my first attempt at posting. I signed up at least three times but kept forgetting the password each time. I tried giving it to my boyfriend, who was also a homestuck and went by the tag stoatMancer in the tumblr rpverse, to remember... but they fucking lost it!!!!!

Oh man, if you guys had seen my old posts from when I had first joined-I was such a different person back then. I think I started when I was 17, now, I'm going to be 21 soon. It's amazing how much someone can change in 4 years.

Oh! Another memory. We had this project where people wrote little fanfiction drabbles for every single song on Album 5. I've still got Homestuck and Ruins (With Strings) on my AO3 account. While I'm on said AO3 account, to this day I still get a steady trickle of views and comments for four titles, since it's still on TVTropes' fanfic recs page for Homestuck. All I can say is, it was put there back when it was actually one of the best works in the fandom, as opposed to just one of the first. :V At the other end of my account, A Company-Wide Memo (some random Sburb Patch Notes drabble I fired off right after watching the end of Homestuck) is apparently the first updatefic-directly-inspired-by-the-ending to make it to the AO3 tag for Homestuck. Again, I am not actually sure how this happened. I just like writing, I guess.

Statistically speaking I probably can be counted as being a pretty old Homestuck fan (Joined the fandom and the forum in September 2010). Though considering I never got to experience the beginnings of the kids or trolls' adventures I still never really felt like one. I started off my forum experience like I imagine at least a few other people did: posting horribly, embarrassingly bad fanart. Which is terrible, but also good. I credit Homestuck (and the great displays of artistic skills from better fanartists) with giving me motivation get better at drawing, which I eventually did, to a reasonable extent (though the embarrassment kept me from really wandering into the creative outlet again after 2010, ha...). I think I joined at just the right time, just before it all really blew up and the tumblr fanbase materialized. There was so much great art posted on the forums near constantly. It was great.
I was never the most active person on the forum, anyway. I always saw new people and old people and everything in between with like several thousands of posts everywhere and I only broke 1000 like, after 5 years. But I did lurk a ton, I recognize a lot of the names being brought up here, and I certainly remember a lot of those memes. I never really joined in. But I was around. Don't have a lot of interesting memories or anything to share though.
I mean. Hussie answered one of my questions on formspring once? That's a thing that happened. Wasn't even a good question either so you know it was the true formspring experience.
But reminiscing about all the stuff that happened all that time ago...it's funny to think about, and I'm glad I got to experience all that stuff firsthand. I remember when Gamzee was regarded as the lovable goof troll, the whole gag with him not getting drawn in Hero Mode (do newer readers even get the joke in the ENGAGE HERO MODE panel? genuinely curious. i feel like it's something that only really makes sense if you were part of the fandom at the time). Fat vriska jokes, got tiger, pantskat, the horrors of Murderstuck, Hussie uploading Seek the highb100d in the middle of the night (shit was spooky), Schrodinger's Nepeta...jesus, so much stuff happened in the old days. And for some reason all my cool memories are from Act 5? I guess it's logical though, I think the forum was still the hub of the fandom around that time, and Hussie interacted a lot more with the fans then.
Not exactly old timey, but I also remember the first time we saw Calliope! Oh man, that was awesome. There were like pages of people going "WHAT" for a while. What a great wham moment that was. It's kind of a shame that new fans (unless they went in completely blind, and also didn't click any of the bandcamp links for the three years it went straight to cherubim...) weren't able to experience that shock. The only other thing I remember coming as that big a shock was during the Scratch segment when Damara was knocking on the fifth wall with a chair and no one had any fucking clue what was going on. The serial experience sure yielded a lot of interesting stuff.

Ohhhh my god. So many old timers here! I remember so many time going into the very end of the Homestuck tag on AO3 and wondering, "Where are these people now?" I only joined the fandom circa the end of 2014, so I missed out on most of the fandom shenanigans. And even then, it took me a looooong time to get onto the forums. I'm going to miss this dumb comic so much.

Haha oh man I can still remember the sheer level of distraught-ness that happened with the shipping threads when the whole ectobiology thing was shown. Soooo many Dave/Rose shippers, myself included, were on an insane defensive against the other shipping combination fans when that happened. (part of me now wishes that part of my life can be fulfilled with the squared sprites getting together, after all it's not like Davesprite and Rose spent a whole lot of time together as siblings like regular Dave and Rose did)
You guys from way, way back remember when the meteor blew up the submission box? People were not happy, but that was right around the time when things were revving up big time and submission threads were piling up like nobody's business.
I also remember Hussie's many, many attempts to find a service to answer a lot of fan questions all at once, if I remember correctly that's where the Got Tiger and Fat Vriska memes got their start?

I remember the old name threads where Andrew would ask us to name the characters. And when the trolls came around with the 6 letter names, everyone trying to get a troll to be named "Rocket Papaya". Alas, it was not to be.
