Dark MSPAF, show me the forbidden music thread But yeah. The old MSPAF had a very dedicated and very long thread for posting music you'd found, and i thought it a shame that those archives were lost forever. So I've taken it upon myself to remake 'em.

That thread was nearing 100 pages of posts, but the OP was still done way the hell back when by Superfrequency. :< Another thing lost with the fall of the forums. If I'm going to post albums, I'm gonna go with FreddeGredde's original stuff. Thirteen Eight and Brighter Skies.

here are some of my favorite songs ever:
anyway, to prevent this thread from becoming an unusable wall of embedded youtube videos, lets talk about music we like and why we like it. The songs I like best always have lyrics that speak to me, even if the lyrics aren't completely clear, as long as they convey an image that feels evocative to me i tend to enjoy it. esp if a song is structured such that they don't really have choruses, just verses that go on for basically the entirety of the song with tons of complex internal rhymes and super-specific language meant to convey a very specific scene and only hint at the broader message of the song. in some ways i feel like the best lyrics flow in a way that provide a rhythm to the song more then they do a melody
another thing I enjoy is sounds. I love weird unconventional instruments and voices and just noises that seem weird and inexplicable and any sort of cool unique production, even ones that are often derided, like digital clipping and low bitrate files. I don't really give a shit about how complex yr chord changes are if you can't make a single note sound good.
good heavens i'm pretentious

I won't visit this thread a lot, but when I do I'll mostly post music from video games and media becauuse these tend to not have lyrics, and I don't find lyrics attractive most of the time. Here you go:

>Not liking people singing >edgy I care more about the music and technicality than a person pouring their heart out on talking in rhymes and a tone, since that's what makes music... music. Even singing by yourself tends to have a certain rhythm and 'background track' in your head as you do it. Instrumental songs aren't all that common standalone other in media and games, so that's why I listen to their music. Sometimes singing can be great; as a storytelling thing, giving characters personality, or sometimes it just makes a person feel more creative and attractive. But when I wanna chill and listen to music, keep singing people away from me. Either way, goddamn using edgy like that is really dumb.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with neptz here. Keep that condescending attitude and nasty dismissal of other people's music tastes out of my thread, please!

Originally I didn't really like songs without lyrics, but I warmed up to them thanks to videogames such as Pokémon and Mario, and Homestuck made me love that kind of songs even more. As for genres of songs WITH lyrics, there's a whole bunch of things I like. The only genre I'm not really a fan of is heavy metal. thanks for your epic edgy opinion bro That was a pretty unnecessary comment to make. Please respect other people's music tastes without resorting to sarcasm. neptz was being equally condescending but ok I personally don't find neptz's comment that you were originally responding to to be condescending, just stating his opinion. But even if you do find a comment to be condescending, that's no reason to make a condescending response yourself. That just makes matters worse. In the future, if you believe a comment doesn't belong somewhere, please report that post and the staff can decide what to do with it.

I mostly prefer heavy metal or Vocaloid, but I also mainly listen to video game music when I'm gaming or browsing the Internet.
I found the theme used for the VGC Pokemon World Championship in XY and ORAS. It's pretty awesome.

" Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier" is this hilarious and incredibly well-done musical parody of Disney's "Aladdin", which retells the classic tale of Aladdin... from the villain's point of view! Also can we keep the embed videos down to a minimum? It really eats away at bandwidth

Embed videos aren't going to stop, most likely. Plus, a lot more people would rather click a video instead of clicking away to another page. Personally, I already have a trillion tabs open all the time so I'd rather not open any more (blame tv tropes)

Embed videos aren't going to stop, most likely. I didn't ask for people to stop posting videos altogether, just to keep it down a bit. Like at the most, two per post instead of a fucking thousand ones

I never really saw the appeal in heavy metal. I prefer things that are more relaxing or 'epic'. Heavy metal just tends to be... urgh. I'm a giant weeb. To make sure you know this, have this chill music

yes @ the Fleet Foxes, AJJ, alt-J, and Phoenix. To you I offer the sweet sounds of my absolute favorite indie band, Coast Modern, and a completely different but equally sweet sound of Little Comets. I never really saw the appeal in heavy metal. I prefer things that are more relaxing or 'epic'. Heavy metal just tends to be... urgh. I'm a giant weeb. To make sure you know this, have this chill musicGood tune, but I strongly object to your statement that metal can't be epic or relaxing. Here's both in one song. And as for what I'm playing now... EDIT: HOLY SHIT BODY HORROR WARNING ON THIS I HADNT WATCHED IT WOW I AM NEVER WATCHING THAT AGAIN
