This forum was still missing a thread to discuss PXS so I decided to make one! Not that there's much to discuss right now, what with how it's still on hiatus, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have a place to simply discuss it in general plus to admire Vrisky Business, the latest PXS story that has launched as a preview for PXS Book 2 two months ago! Plus, I also wanted a place where I'd be capable of posting the following.
I finally got around to checking out the first PXS book and thus reading the two extra stories in the first PXS book (the Foreword and the Morel of the Story), and also the extra sketches at the back. Plus I also finally got around to reading the Vrisky Business story that's been up on PXS for some time now. Hehe, I'd only heard that Spades Slick and Ms. Paint would be in that Foreword, I'd no idea Andrew would be in it as well, nor did I know he'd actually be "narrating" the foreword, hehe. I really liked it. There were a lot of funny easter eggs in there, the fat Vriska, Gamzee the Whistles clown, the Nepeta clock and Spades Slick destroying that clock... genius. xD I was pleasantly surprised by the Morel of the Story! I'd no idea there were two extra stories in this book! I'd only ever heard people talk about the Spades Slick story, never about this Mushroom Farmer story. Nonetheless, that was pretty funny, haha. Mushroom Farmer finally gets to be the hero, it's him. Well, to Salamanders at least. Not so very spectacular for John. I really like the way that Uranium Imp was drawn. Other then all that, I only just found out that apparently the PXS Book 1 features a slightly different version of Hunting Lesson than the website does! There's an extra page in there, the 3rd page is new and inserted between what were previously the 2nd and the 3rd page, so that there are now 4 pages to the story! As for Vrisky Business, oh dear god Vriska, you're even more unsettling than you usually are. I love how the blood loss is making her go completely drunk. Heroes of Light sure have a thing with going drunk apparently. I love how Equius still manages to keep his calm even though Vriska's saying all these things and she's pretty much dying here, hahaha. It's cool to see these events leading up to how Vriska gets her robotic arm and probably her eyepatch. I wonder how it will continue in the next PXS book! And I'm also pretty curious how many more pages it will be, seeing as this "preview" was already 5 pages!

Yeah, the book had been lying on the shelf a while, I'm glad we had a chance to take a peak inside.
The foreword is hilarious. So. Many. Horses. I especially like the gag with the title “Paradox Space” being blown in bubbles from a horse pipe and lasting for more than 1 panel.
The Morel of the Story - don’t think I didn’t see that wordplay! (Even if I didn’t know the word morel before - apparently with our neighbors in the Netherlands, it’s also a name for a type of cherry.) Hah, such a good thing to have a happy ending for the mushroom farmer. He could finally retire.
When going through the sketches at the back of the book, we noticed that apparently, Hunting Lesson in the book has a previously unseen penultimate page!
It’s just drawing the gag out longer though - I like the layout as-is on the Paradox Space site.
Lastly, we also went and read the preview pages for Vrisky Business on the Paradox Space site.
---
I didn’t expect that this story would take place right after Vriska lost her arm and an eye.
Though it’s funny to see her acting almost drunk, it’s also sad at the same time, since she’s basically getting airheaded from bloodloss.
She’s still too proud to ask for Equius’ help, falling unconscious first, but I presume Equius will have a way to explain away his generousity in fitting her with an arm and an eye.
Maybe that he’s always wanted to try his hand at cybernetic interfaces with biological vessels, and that Vriska was just the perfect guinea pig, presenting herself like that.
Yeah, that seems like him.
Equius was rather stoic here, presumably because he was trying to focus on his work. It resulted in him coming across as rather how Sollux might react in this situation.
(Heh, moist.)

I still have the first Paradox Space book and I just pop it open for read from time to time but one of my favorite aspects was the cover. There was so much attention to detail with the cover, going over story that appears and it just looks great. I'm probably going to get the second book. Especially curious about Vrisky Business. Also The Inaugural Death of Mister Seven will be great to have in it.

I read the webcomic for a while but I eventually fell off it. Mostly because I can't serially read stuff on one page a day, 3/5 page-a-week schedules (compared to a comic book's 32 pages a month). Which is why I'm such a big Gunnerkrigg Court fan but only read it about once every 6 months. The description in the beginning implied that we'd get to see a lot of semi-canon/canon material like doomed timelines or stuff that happened during the troll session, but most of it seemed kind of obviously non-canon joke stuff, like most of the stories from Star Wars Tales. Most of them were good (besides the ones where they're playing VR/MMO/RPGs) but I don't remember anything super outstanding. I'll eventually get around to finishing PXS someday, but do they ever have any super extraordinary stories in there? I remember hearing about one that went on for like 60 pages that a lot of people liked and a lot of people hated, though lol.

The Inaugural Death of Mister Seven, Quality Time and Vrisky Business are written by Andrew Hussie himself and thus as close to canon as it gets and definitely worth reading.
As for non-canon stories, Summerteen Romance is an absolutely great one.

Indeed, Andrew's contributions are great due to the stories being as canon as we'd ever get. What tops it off is the amazing art though.
Some of the best stories are the ones that are only a single or two pages long, because sometimes they're too short to have blatant or repeating errors against canon. Star of the Ocean is the prime example to me.
There are a few trends in Paradox Space, and depending on what you enjoy they might be arguments in favor for reading.
KC Green does the SBaHJ panels. Equius is a Paradox Space favorite, and a lot of stories focus on him (Killswitch Engage, Steward of Void, Hunting Lesson, ...)

Should I pick up the two Paradox Space books? Also, I really want a continuation to the Inaugural Death of Mister Seven.

If you get the first PXS book, you get two extra stories, a Foreword about Spades Slick and Andrew and a Morel of the Story with Mushroom Farmer, plus an extra page in Hunting Lesson. There's also some sweet concept-art in there.

I just want to point out a funny coincidence.
In the first (?) Paradox space comic (on the website), It basically depicts what would happen if john sliced all the mannequins arms off. The result... Is Hilarious.
In EOA6, The destroyer (forgot his first name) Gets his arm sliced off and loses the power of the ring, Making him go arm-less. Okay i know he re-gains a arm but still.
So did paradox space influence the ending? probably.

The first one is You Have A Feeling It's Going To Be A Long Day, while the one you're thinking of is the 4th comic Prototyped. Nonetheless, yeah I thought of the same thing you did when I first saw Collide! Hilariously, that part in the flash is drawn by the same person who also drew Prototyped, if I'm not mistaken. So yeah, it's probably not a coincidence.

Hmm. His name is indeed not mentioned on the art credits page, but it does say that not all names are listed there (yet).
To me that art style looks really, really close to the one from Prototyped in any case, in the scene where Jack's arm is cut off... Ah well. It doesn't really matter.

This shall forever remain a mystery.
Else, everyone's getting the PxS books, and I'm just sitting there re-reading some for a nostalgic thrill. 2014 was a wild year.

Don't have any of the books, but read most of the comics online last week. Personal favorite is by far the Inaugural Death of Mister Seven. It gave the Felt some much (in my opinion at least) needed character.

I don't really get Paradox Space, who made it and shit? All stories are written and drawn by specifically recruited people of What Pumpkin. Andrew Hussie himself has also written a few stories. These can be stories that fit into canon, but also stories that don't necessarily fit but are just fun. The first few news posts over there do a pretty good job at explaining what it's about.

unless you've got a time machine paradox space is never ever ever ever ... (thousands of "ever"s later) ... ever coming back in anything approaching its previous format

A time machine, and a shitload of money.
Still, that doesn't stop me from hoping for more PxS sometime.
