Start Twine is a software engine that allows folks to make interactive fiction. It has two versions, 1.4 and 2.0. From the node map screenshots I've seen, plenty of developers prefer 1.4. Making a game with it is easy. All you need to do is type in some text, maybe format it with some HTML, throw in some <<macro>>'s, and slap on some CSS if y'wanna prettify it, then put a link to the next passage in [[double brackets.]]double brackets. In this thread, you can talk about games made with Twine, or a game you are working on that uses the software engine.
Enough with the format screw haha. I'm currently working on an interactive novel about a faction leader. I'm writing and programming it, here's a screenshot of the node map. I'm still not yet done with Chapter 1, though, so that's just a reaaaaally tiny section.

That's very nice. I might get into it once I get good at drawing in a few years or so. Is it possible to make animated cutscenes?

Actually you don't need to be super good at drawing- but putting in art is very nice and gives your stories a lil thing that sets it apart!
Yes, well, sort of. You can't exactly import an animated cutscene, but you can make the animation, put it up on YouTube, then use some code to put it in a passage. Twine is more text-based, after all.

I always thought interactive fiction was just called text-adventures

Is it something like Novelty, or is it more complex?
