Not to mention Jade's home life! Hers could've totally been Cerebus syndrome'd as well, with an old man letting her play with guns as a kid, stranded alone on an island with a dog after he died, and all that stuff. Also how she should've been dead, or at least extremely ill what with her keeping uncovered enriched uranium right next to her bed for how ever many years.

Personally I think Vriska dresses like a homeless person.
I think Eridan has no swag.
I think no one really cares about Feferi
Equius in my opinion is a bit of an underrated character.
I think we're never given any clues as to any of the alpha/beta kids race. I can only assume that maybe by region that John and Jade might be a bit dark skinned, pacific islanders, maybe Indian?

honestly i view every homestuck character as white because with all the information we have on them and on a racial background it doesn't seem like any of them would be really dark skinned except maybe jade. Racial background doesn't really mean anything because the four human parents are clones of themselves, and don't have a genetic "background". John said Bro is white, which means Dave, Rose, Dirk, and Roxy are all "technically" white, though if people headcanon them differently it doesn't really matter. I'm pretty sure John, Jade, Jane, and Jake could be anything. The only thing that bothers me is when people draw a white John with a black Jade, or a white Rose with a black Dave, etc., as if they don't remember that they're siblings. I see that all the time (that's my unpopular opinion I guess). Double proof of Rose being white, as Kanaya refers to her having no horns and being really pale when she first sees Rose.

I hate when fanworks based off canon depict the characters according to their own headcanons. Like if you're using canon art-style, don't just suddenly have a curly-haired Dave, or an overweight Kakat, or whatever, when they've never been drawn that way before in-comic. (These being two examples from things like Act 8) I find it odd and jarring, especially if like in that example, it's supposed to be a continuation of the canon story line. (btw please don't think I'm dragging that particular fan adventure, it was just the first story I could recall that does this. I actually think it's very well done aside from that!)

Eridan was an interesting character and I liked him more than Feferi, Gamzee, Nepeta and Equius. Those four were terrible characters. People say that Eridan was a boring two-bit character, but I always felt that the only real difference between him and Vriska before she got character development piled onto her to make us feel bad when Terezi killed her was that spidertroll had the whole tavros/aradia/terezi thing (murdercripplebonanza?) providing some interesting depths. I found that both of them were arrogant, "I'm so much better than you", neither were as clever/funny/interesting as they thought, they both indulged in fantasy games where they killed a load of people (Eridan at least had the whole "Death of entire species" excuse, haha) and through which they recieved ridiculously powerful blue legendary artifact weapons, they both had dodgy pirate ancestors, had a fascination with doomsday devices (Even though vriska was the only one competent enough to make them), They both had drama and later killed people they had romantic tension over for ridiculous reasons, neither of them took Bec Noir's threat seriously, both were brash and rude when contacting the kids (Okay this was like half the trolls)(And Eridan failed to work out with Rose probbably because she was able to explode his computers with horrorterror magic rather than be forced to endure like john/vriska), and they both ended up killed by underestimating people close to them. The real difference is that Vriska was more popular/controversial/love-hated/whatever, and therefore got more comic time and development to grow as a person from the self-obsessed brat who didn't understand how much worse at everything she was than her friends, whilst Eridan remained an elitist whiny douchebag, vanished from the comic for a long time, then came back with a stupid plan and initiated Murderstuck.are you next?

This is beating a dead horse and not an opinion, but there have been a lot of comments on the kids' skin color in this thread, so it's relevant. The trolls calling the kids in general "pink" at the beginning of Act 5-2 stood out to me, and I went "oh so they're all canonically light-skinned and most likely white"

He went on his rampage because he felt like he was the only one taking things seriously. He wanted to surrender/ally to Bec Noir because he knew that he would find them eventually and that they couldn't stand up to him in a fight.

On the subject of Eridan - I meant more as in he underestimated the murderiness of Bec Noir, but that's reasonable I suppose, seeing as their Noir was very helpful and allied with them immediately.

OH where do I begin?
- The retcon was an interesting, original, and well thought-out idea. It was well-executed, and it started some really great philosophical discussions between my friend and I.
- Eridan is my favourite troll,if not, my favourite character. And Cronus is pretty alright too.
- The dancestors are cool, interesting characters, and I wish we knew more about their session.
- Act 7 and Collide wrapped up the story perfectly.
- Davepeta, Jasprose, rosesprite, and GCATavrosprite were all really unnecessary and annoying.

For example, in openbound, it says Latula lost her olfactory sense as revence by some friends. I'd love to know the story behind that. I'd love to know a bit better about why Kankri is so stuck on all the social justice stuff. I'd like to know what the beta trolls were like as ancestors... I'd love to have seen what happened between Damara and Rufio before the session... So many things I'd love to know.

Although I kind of don't buy into the 'Eridan at least decided to do something while everyone else was just sitting on their asses.' idea. So did Vriska. So did Leeroy Jenkins. Just doing something isn't inherently a better idea than not doing something. Some times the best thing to do is wait.

I don't think anyone here is actually supporting and condoning Eridan's plans and actions. What we are describing is what Eridan thought was the case, which isn't necessarily the same as what actually is the case. Yes you're right that others were getting shit done, but Eridan either A) didn't know what they were doing* or B) thought their far-fetched and convoluted schemes wouldn't work(just the outlook we'd expect from someone who despises Hope). *Think of how many problems could've been solved, deaths not happened if someone just told Eridan that Vriska was about to go and alert Bec Noir and thus jeopardize his plans. He would have gone to deal with her instead of wasting time with Sollux, Feferi and Kanaya and Vriska would've been stopped, or at least waylaid enough for Terezi to come up with a better solution.

I think eridan getting compared to Hitler is unfair.
I think both vriska and eridan are relatively arrogant and dumbass characters to whom the fanbase puts to much praise on what the latter did.
I think no one would hang around sea dwellers as they would smell like fish and would generally no friends.
I think Dave is the epitome of Damn Daniel
I don't think cronus is really bad at all
I thought Porrim was a high class prostitue.
I think Damara is very conflicted and I generally think she hates men because of Rufio.
I think John's father works at Area 51.
And i think Dirk is a part of realm 69: Anime city. To which an anti anime task force has been assembled

Huh? I've never seen this. The only troll I've seen compared to Hitler is Her Imperious Condescension, who was at least a thousand times worse (That being if you count her kill-count on humanity and ignore the millenia of troll opression)

I don't think that the kids of Homestuck are anything but white, and I don't mean literally paper white. Caucasian is what I believe they are and have been referred to as so within the comic. Dave and Rose are very much white in my opinion. I will say that I'm not against people drawing them in whatever ethnicity they want for the fun of it. In fact, I have actually enjoyed their interpretations of the characters. It's their art and if they feel like it they can. But within the canon of the story, I have to say they're all white. I think Hussie just said that they're any ethnicity you want them to be just to pander to people so he wouldn't get backlash from the community.
I don't think Vriska was the worst character. She is just... complicated. I'm pretty much stuck in a perpetual state of liking her, then flipping back to disliking her. It's hard to describe.
I didn't think John wasn't bland or boring like some people think. I enjoyed his character from start to finish. Also, I do think when he said he wasn't a homosexual he meant it.
I liked the ending for what it was. Honestly, the fact that this cluster of plots was able to solidify itself into some semblance of an ending is a miracle in of itself. It was proably a massive undertaking for Hussie to actually do it period (assuming he was doing it without a bunch of assistance), like he must've had to take some motivation pills or something. I know how it is to try and write a story for a long period of time. Getting back on track here, there's still a lot of issues with the ending and I agree with a lot of the people who didn't like it on many things and think it could have been better than it was, but it wasn't an awful ending. I don't hate it, I just think it should have been handled better.
I didn't like the alpha trolls that much. Sure it was kind of interesting finding out more about them. But in comparision to the regular trolls? I couldn't actually invest myself into their stories in the same way, if that makes any sense. They were just kind of there.. Existing. Not really contributing too much to the plot except being Lord English fodder at a later date.
Karkat became really lame towards the end of the comic. (Not sure if this is unpopular.) Like he used to be right up there in the front with everybody and then they made him sit on the sidelines, for a good reason and all but still. Sure he still managed to do a little bit in the final battle, but then in the end all he did was incapacitate Clover? Which was great and all but, I feel like he could have done so much more. I still like Karkat as a character though, just wish he got to do more significant stuff.
