I mentioned Tumblr because that's where this mentality comes from. I don't know where you get the idea that I get a kick out of hurting people, you clearly misunderstand. What I'm saying is that these warnings are completely pointless, and solve nothing; yet there are people who would socially ostracize you for saying that, especially where I live. That is what I mean by toxic. Sorry if i come across as condescending or a complete douchenozzle but i don't enjoy this kind of "protect everyone at all costs because they're special little snowflakes" where I live. Seriously though, you do help people get over their issues through confrontation. That is an actual and legitimate therapy strategy, people. I'm not particularly sure where you think that overlaps on quitting drugs cold turkey or broken limbs. No one expects them to just forget they have PTSD, no, they're exposed to minute amounts of what troubles them under a controlled environment so that the issue slowly resolves itself when they recognize there's no real issue with these things. I guarantee you that this mentality existed before Tumblr, and Tumblr is just a convenient bogeyman for you and your kind. Trigger warnings have nothing to do with "special snowflakes", and I don't see how they're inconvenient to anyone when they're just a sentence at the beginning of something. You know those "This video contains explicit content" things, or movie, TV, and game ratings? Those are pretty much trigger warnings. I don't see you complaining about those. If you're being socially ostracized for not believing in trigger warnings, it's not because everyone where you live is a special snowflake, it's because you're a dick. >I guarantee you that this mentality existed before TumblrYou know, I might just conceed that. Ok. Point taken. I misjudged the timeframe of a cancerous group of individuals coalescing. Whoopdy fucking doo. Point is, right now, it is simply the most concentrated group that i can think of, save my High School. >Tumblr is just a convenient bogeyman for you and your kind.Bogeyman, eh? You look like you've been on tumblr before, seeing as you've got one. So I gotta ask, don't you think they've taken it just a bit farther than they should? Seriously, I've seen trigger warnings on posts about spiders. Something we encounter daily if you pay enough attention. Oh boy, look ma, someone didn't put a trigger warning on that cobweb I ran into gonna have a panic attack. ah, but people have phobias attached to arachnids I hear you clack on your keyboard, and yeah that's true, but do you really think it's sane to want someone to tag their pomegranates? Also, would you care to clarify what you mean by "you and your kind"? I don't have a group I identify as, only a person who thinks that some shit has gotten out of hand and people need to grow the fuck up. >Trigger warnings have nothing to do with "special snowflakes"Maybe I used the wrong term, but Special snowflakes is just a catch-all term for people who are beyond PC this at point. you know what no. I did mean special snowflakes like that, because our generation and the one before has been raised given this inane message that you're unique and no one is exactly like you, well holy shit they certainly act and look like every other unique individual ever and need to be protected because like a snowflake their illusion of utter importance will melt away one you shine a scrutinizing light over it. >I don't see how they're inconvenient to anyone when they're just a sentence at the beginning of something. You're right, a trigger warning in and of itself is not inconveniencing me. However I still reserve the right to point out that some of them might be utterly ridiculous, and further still I reserve the right to not place such warnings on anything of mine, and will not do so simply because someone got offended by the content. So what? It's not my problem. > You know those "This video contains explicit content" things, or movie, TV, and game ratings? Those are pretty much trigger warnings. I don't see you complaining about those.Funny you should mention those, because the ratings are actually completely pointless and pretty arbitrary, and started as a self censorship thing. For example, did you know the people that rate movies pout gay sex scenes as an automatic NC-17 rating, while straight couples going at it is just an R? In fact at this point its mostly a marketability thing, and your film will benefit tremendously in the box office from having a pg-13 rating, while the overall quality of the film is ruined as you had to chop and mix everything in all the wrong ways to get it that way. Really, we need to either get rid of or completely reform it so that the system is completely unrecognizable. I'm all for the loss of the rating system completely. >If you're being socially ostracized for not believing in trigger warnings, it's not because everyone where you live is a special snowflake, it's because you're a dick.I live in a uni town. Yeah, everyone's a special snowflake. But I might also be a dick. I also point out complete bullshit whenever I see it. But why would they, or even you, listen to me, right? I'm just that kind of person.

Holy shit. Dude, I'm pretty sure any sane person wouldn't have just typed out the most inane wall of text I've ever read. All I'm going to say is, you're acting pretty immature about this entire thing, for someone who claims that you "point out complete bullshit whenever I see it". My advice to you is, stop assuming everyone has the same life experience as you and start respecting other people more. You'll make friends, I promise.
...I'm done here, I can see I can't persuade you not to be a huge tool.

Okay, aside from the fact that of the two people here, YOU'RE the one completely disregarding the other person's opinions, not to mention the fact that YOU were the one who kickstarted the argument in the thread where people ARE SUPPOSED TO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT, instead of answering this like a "sane" or at the very least "mature" person, or even just saying it wasn't a productive conversation, first you diverted the topic, insulting him instead of actually, you know, staying on topic or trying to be relevant, and then backpedaled out to avoid rebuttal. Probably not an unpopular opinion here, but that kind of bull**** makes my blood boil. It's one of the few things that can get my emotions to actually flare up instead of just getting me to pretend they are. ESPECIALLY when you have the audacity to accuse the other person of just such things as you've been doing. Don't. Be. A. Bloody. Hypocrite. I suppose I am at this point too for taking the tine to type this out but I guess that's what insomnia will do for you. Now, as has been attempted several times, we should probably get back to not being twats at each other. Opinion: I can't stand ultra violence or gore. I like a good fight, but I didn't come here for an anatomy lesson. It makes me very happy when there's adjustable gore options in games.

I'm sorry, where did I state or even insinuate that every person i interact with has had the same experiences as I have? Secondly, even on the outskirts of the social pecking order, there are still friends to be made, but thanks for your vote of confidence. Nice ad hominem. Certainly a valid argument. Not a fallacy at all. Oh boy, you won so hard, man. Now, on with the thread like pionoplayer and obsidalicious sorry if i spelled that wrong going by memory have pointed out: When I draw, I prefer pens over pencils, and I just kinda live with the mistakes I make. No reason you can't turn a mistake into something good.

I absolutely have rebuttals to the above argument and I'd be happy to share them with you if you ask over private message, but as I'VE tried to do several times, I'd like to stop clogging up this thread, but everybody just HAS to have the last word.

Yeah. I was wanting to step in to stop it but the argument seemed to die out on its own.
I don't like the focus on Sans and Papyrus or the equivalents of these characters in Undertale AUs. I like them, but would it hurt to acknowledge other characters outside of the skelebros?

Unpopular Opinion: I'm actually sorta sad to see the discourse die down, internet discussions can be good fun if people don't resort to put downs and dig their heels into their positions. Coulda been a nice discussion about social sensitivity and the interplay between different cultures, sub-cultures, and counter-cultures. But I guess not.

Unpopular Opinion: Saying any console (including PC) is better than a different one is stupid

The console war is like a sauce war: some want soft mayonnaise, some prefer sour barbecue sauce, some want a fruity ketchup but occasionally go to a spicy mustard. It's all a matter of taste, and as long as it's well-seasoned you can eat whatever you want. But if you put mayonnaise on pasta, I'll personally end you. That's gross.

I don't like the idea of Ultra Beasts in Pokemon Sun and Moon. It's weird, like a mandatory Pokestar Studios because it happens in the story.

I'm sure the UBs will turn out to be a cool thing. For now, we don't know much, so we can't tell.
While we're at it, while the new Pokemon look really cool, they have...weird names. What kind of name is Type: Null? I wonder whether it will say its 'name' once in anime version. It might confirm the theory that humans gave Pokemon their names, and Pokemon just learned to speak them or something.

I agree that it has *potential* but the fact that they made everyone so needlessly edgy, and slapped the same edgy red and black color scheme onto everyone just made it awful. Papyrus I understand cause he already has red in his color scheme, but even then they didn't need to make the white parts black. I mean Mettaton didn't even need to change he was designed to kill humans, and definitely tries to kill you during the game, the only thing that needed to change is Alphys not wanting to kill Frisk and MTT would have no reason to hold back. And what's with Sans' gold tooth?

And all the music is chimey and stuff" Swaptale is confusing at times with the chara swaps, but Sans is the greatest cinnamon roll. He canonically says "Mweheheh!" and his eyes are stars.
