Dang it! We've been caught red-handed. Brand deals and sponsorships get a bad rep in the YouTubing world. Unless the brand deal is for a company that's crappy, I can't blame YouTubers for accepting those deals, because they make most of their money from them. Also, people who crap all over Hussie for "outsourcing" some of the work for the comic to other artists is disheartening because not only does that allow for him to spend more time on things like Hiveswap, but it allows smelling artists to get the spotlight. I don't get why people got angry when other art was featured in HS. I agree with you about brand deals and sponserships, and I'm ok with hussie outsourcing work on the comic to an extent, but it becomes a problem when it affects the story itself. This is Hussie's story, so to see others writing it for him is turning the pure original story characters and making them into certain fan's interpretation of the story and characters. Guest art is fine as it is only changing the was the story is displayed, not the story itself, Paradox Space and Hiveswap are fine as they are side stories, not the main original story, but the snapchat stuff is officially adding to the main story. It's like if JK Rowling said the final Harry Potter book would be partially written by fans; even if the fans that contributed were really good writers it just wouldn't be the same.

tldr: we want the canon to be set by the OG author, not fans. Fan stories are great, but we fell in love with hussies work, not the fans

I think Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff has massive untapped potential so it's good that Hussie is finally giving them some attention.

He'd already hired Cohen as the head writer of Hiveswap before the snapchat updates. So, he got a guy he'd already hired in a professional setting (as head writer of a project with a fair bit of money behind it!) to produce, presumably, some kind of transitionary side content while Hussie himself works on the epilogue. It's not just getting a fan to write some stuff for the main story, it's getting a guy who he's already paying for work on another project with a lot more riding on it, who, if I recall correctly, already got bumped up to head writer because of his work ethic, to write some stuff to tide people over until more can come out. It's not at all equivalent to something like Rowling just getting a fan to write book seven.
Unpopular opinion: Cohen gets too much flak from this fandom and people gotta be more patient.

It's not at all equivalent to something like Rowling just getting a fan to write book seven. The snapchats are not side content, though. Not only are they presented as an official continuation of the main story, but they even include some minor character development and plot important details that are presumably canon. Perhaps it's not so much like Rowling getting a fan to write book seven, but rather, like Rowling declaring a fanfiction canon and writing book seven with said fanfiction's events in mind. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anything bad about Cohen, just he should not be writing Hussie's story.

Earthbound was a good game, but the fanbase acts like it was the most influential and important video game ever, which it was far from. Also, Mother 3 wasn't that good.

Unpopular opinion from a guy who doesn't support Trump in the least. I think his presidency has made us aware of the extreme left and right. Especially the left these days. Their basically going against what they stand for and making themselves look terrible.

Most of these so called liberals, whether on college campuses or in the streets seem to want to crucify you for having a differing opinion and try to censor you if you say "I don't think black lives matter is a good civil rights movement" or "I think modern feminism should go elsewhere other than floating in the western world". Take it for say, that asshole Richard Spencer getting punched in the face at the protest in D.C. Look I hate the guy and frankly don't care for him, but they had no right to punch him in the face without provocation.

This is a guy who says things like "it's time we think about whether humanity needs a black race". This is a guy who promotes "peaceful genetic cleansing". This is a guy who organized and anti-Jew march in his hometown. This is an honest-to-god neo-nazi, no matter what he says he is. When did punching nazis become a bad thing? Nonviolent protest only works when your oppressor has a conscience, and neo-nazis obviously don't. ...and for your information, Martin Luther King or whatever wasn't some angelic, non-violent saint. Sure, he promoted nonviolence, but so does Black Lives Matter. The Civil Rights Movement of the 50s and 60s had roughly the same amount of approval as BLM does today. ...and what do you want American feminists to do, fly out to countries that are even more prejudiced against women than the USA is? Why can't we focus on inequality at home before we start thinking about helping elsewhere, even if it's worse there?

When did punching nazis become a bad thing? Probably ever since assaulting people has been a crime and/or ever since America made Freedom of Speech its number one rule. Either way, quite a while. Because the problems here are largely based on casual social interaction rather than anything more major and objectively measured like legislation. As a result, many of their proposed solutions involve somehow enforcing certain behaviors in people, which as Aquilus said, isn't really in the spirit of Liberalism. A side issue is that this flawed liberalism that Aqulius talks seem to of have gotten the idea in their head that criticising Islam is somehow an _ism like Racism or Sexism and so it's not just that feminists are failing to address the problems on the other side of the world, in some cases, they actively avoid the topic and may even try to make you the bad guy for raising the issue.

As far as out and out censorship goes, those who would advocate for that are what some would call "illiberals" or the "ctrl-left". But freedom of speech only means freedom from the legal persecution of speech, and does not in any way protect one from the social consequences, so they are in fact practicing their own free speech by ostracizing or socially "crucifying" those idea that are thought to be harmful. As far as the punching of Richard Spencer goes, I'm a bit on the fence about it, but I'm more inclined to feel it was justified, if not ideal.

At that point, it becomes less of a freedom of speech issue and more of an assault issue. You're free to say whatever you want, but handing out death threats is usually where freedom of speech ends. And yes I was a bit on the fence about Spencer getting punched, but after a bit I can say- somewhat satisfying but not justified.

Violence isn't so much a social consequence, yes, I mean more like getting fired from your job or shunned by your peers for advocating such ideas. I think the line where violence is an acceptable response is a bit of a gray area for me where targeted hate speech is involved, especially from a position of power, such as with Spencer.
