With Gime's entrance to the forums, I've been reminded that not everybody uses or . Any chance there could be an option implemented to leave the gender area blank, or fill in pronouns?

I had some fun with it and decided to flip a coin to decide what symbol to use. I agree if there's a way to include an option that is just no symbol that'd be cool but I don't mind as I know the forums were set up to be temporary.

Thanks for the info, thought I had to change it on the forum itself!

Yeah, that unfortunately seems to be one of the things I can't customize here.
I can customize the gender symbols, but as far as I've seen I can't customize the fields that users need to fill in when they register.
This is another thing I will try looking into when I have the chance, there might be an option I haven't discovered yet (some buttons are really well hidden. It took me pretty long before I found out where I can customize the images and emoticons).

ive used/adminned these forums before and you can remove the gender field and replace it with a gender text box you can write anything you want in. to make a general *.freeforums.net account requires putting in a gender, but you don't need to have that visible or used on a specific board at all. its cool

Would be really nice, I was shocked when I wasn't able to register as Other, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I was a little bit annoyed by that, yeah.... I'd much prefer to just choose 'other' than hiding the gender field.

It's not that hard. If you don't want to identify as male or female then just leave the gender field blank, that'll let people know what they need to know.

You can't just leave it blank. You're made to pick male or female upon registration, and the only option from there is hide the field on your profile. It's still male or female, it's just hidden. Besides, if your gender is hidden, all it says about you is that... your gender is hidden. People don't assume, "oh, they're nonbinary" if you hide it.

Alright, so what you guys can now do is go to your profile and edit it, and there choose the pronoun you'd like (just like on the MSPA Forums).
The gender field is something I unfortunately can't remove when you register nor when you edit your profile, but I did make it so that it doesn't matter what option you pick there for the gender, only what you pick for the pronouns is now shown on your profile, and also to the left of your posts (see for example to the left of this particular post).
I have no clue about all the different pronouns there were on the MSPA Forums so for now I've just added "he/him/his", "she/her/hers", "other (see signature)", and "I'd rather not say". But if you guys remember some of the pronoun options from the MSPA Forums and/or have more ideas for pronouns, do please say and I will add them as options.

I would add "they/them/theirs" as an option since a fair amount of people seem to favor those pronouns, as well as [any] as an option. The other less common gender-neutral pronouns (like hir and xe or whatever) can just be lumped together into the "other" option since they aren't as common.

you should add as many as possible, proboards really doesn't have a limit to how many options you can have and it would be extremely short-sighted to limit it

(Waiting for the they to come.) It should already be in there as an option actually! I put it in yesterday. It's the 3rd option.

Do you mean on your own profile, or for everyone?
Because it's the latter, what reason could you have for not wanting to see them other than not respecting certain people's gender identities? I'd be eager to know.
