Wow, that was kinda... anticlimactic? I guess that's only because I expected it to be longer. But seriously, that was the coolest thing ever. Now all I'm wondering is: Who's wants to play again? This guy right here! In a heartbeat. I think he could've added another minute or two to finish a couple minor plot threads though.

The big fight was Collide. With the Condesce as the big bad. I guess.

I'm guessing it's a fakeout. Hussie knows storytelling, so he can certainly tell that as-is the ending is pretty unsatisfying. I have trouble believing that he would end on a note like that without at least a bit of lampshading that it didn't really resolve things.

I think the Big Man played it straight here. Disappointing that he seems to not have had any hand in the animation. So.... now that it's all over. Favorite parts? Acts 1 - 4 were the best for me.

Gosh I know I keep posting more thoughts of mine, but I mean given everything it's hard to not have scattered thoughts rn. ANYWAY, I feel like I should say that were it not the FINAL OF ALL FINAL ANIMATIONS I would have loved this update, like it was truly very nice. But as a wrap up to the entirety of Homestuck I'm left wanting more.

This can't be the real ending. It doesn't end anything. I'm not even 100% certain what happened in it.
But on the other hand, believing this is a fakeout requires believing that Andrew Hussie would be that cruel to his fanbase.
I... I don't know what to think.

GCATAVROS?
How anything got to Caliborn's planet?
The B2 lotus weapons?
Who flipped the frog switch?
Everyone except Dave's character arcs?
The Planet Quests?
Either we're being trolled or that was the worst ending to any form of media ever. I'm sorry Hussie I'm very dissapointed. What was that black hole? What did all that mean? Why did I follow this fucking thing for almost seven years for this? I mean yay its an anime now but like... fuck.

We'll I'm going to continue to be in denial for a week or so until I'm sure he's not actually going to post another update.
What was the point of Calliope turning the Green Sun into a black hole? We didn't see that serve any purpose at all.
What did the white house juju do? Was Lord English defeated or not?
Why did the kids go confront Caliborn in the masterpiece? The flash shows them entering their universe with no problems and living happily ever after. Where does the masterpiece play into anything? And Hussie made a point of showing Caliborn with the ring of void. How did he get that?
Vriska and Aradia were still alive, do they just get sucked into the black hole and die? Where are all the sprites?
Do none of our main heroes actually play any role in LE's downfall whatsoever?
And no ending dialog at all?
I just can't comprehend this being the true end. Hussie has worked hard too hard on this comic to give it a blatantly bad ending. It wasn't even minor questions that were unresolved, it was all of the main plot points that have built up throughout Act 6 that were given absolutely no resolution. This flash didn't show us anything that we didn't already know was going to happen.
I guess the plot twist was that there was no plot twist. But I think that's a twist too shitty even for Caliborn.

But on the other hand, believing this is a fakeout requires believing that Andrew Hussie would be that cruel to his fanbase. I... I don't know what to think. I feel like a lot of the big end of acts had focus returning to the 'real plot' which might not match up well with what happened in the act. For instance, for me, it felt like Cascade was all about the 4 kids and that the trolls were almost absent from it, when the trolls themselves dominated Act 5. Similarly, the ultimate point of Homestuck was a creation myth. We just kind of got distracted with the story that took place inbetween. Like Jane, Roxy, Dirk, etc... existing. Or the entire business with well, everything. It returns back to its basic form and sort of leaves out everything else.

I get the feeling the ending was meant to be open-ended and some things left up to interpretation, but this feels a bit too... loose? Hmm.

OK, so... let's recap what happened.
Caliborn smashed the God Tier clock with the crowbar, which did... something...
Alternate Calliope... did something... turn the Green Sun into a black hole?
The house juju is the same as the house on their victory platform, and... um... something?
Then the Genesis Frog did... another thing and we saw some kind of alternate(?) world where all the Homestuck characters were happy. But then we zoomed out, so I'm not sure if it was supposed to be real or something. ...
Yeah, I'm at a complete loss here.
At least people won't complain that Jane didn't get to hug her dad. That was the one thing in the update I remember thinking "wow, I really like this", at least besides the fact that it was Anime At Last.
As for everything else... I was just confused more than anything. I didn't get it at all.

We might be able to pry an answer from this mess of an ending if we get our best theorists on the job asap. And by asap I mean now.

Following on the recap
-WV and PM destroy their rings -Genesis frog enters the center planet thingy (jesus if i remember terms by this point) and is born into a new universe - Green sun is destroyed by Alt Calliope - black hole created from green sun kills Lord English? I think - Time magic showing how the new universe is made super awesome. - flashbacks to lord english destroying his clock throughout.
I think the main point is that a black hole was created from the green sun by Alt Calliope.

I would guess that Caliborn smashed his clock because that would mean that if he died, he could not be judged heroic or just, making him immortal, and then at the end he became LE? I don't see the point of the Green Sun getting killed. The beta house turned into a white house because the house juju had a door. The AU was earth fast forwarded, so that is actually probably the real ending and they went through the door and were happy on earth. My question: If this is a creation myth, where are all the prospitans and dersites now?

Or the entire business with well, everything. It returns back to its basic form and sort of leaves out everything else. I have trouble viewing it that way. Again, I think Hussie is a bit too self-aware to actually let a somewhat nebulous theme override actual plot which he put a lot of effort into building up. This kind of 'ambiguous but not in a thoughtful way' ending doesn't really fit with how we've seen Andrew approach storytelling in the past.

With the greatness of CREATION, Homestuck ends.
Questions remain. Many are probably already answered, but only as hints for puzzles to solve. That's fitting for Homestuck, a story that is also a puzzle. Just as this our own Universe, whose real questions, big and small, we often need to puzzle out. And sometimes, just contemplate. Or guess.
Others questions are open for now. It will take a while to figure out which ones. Hiveswap might answer a few of them. For the rest, we may enjoy guessing.
For now, seeing the *kids* enjoy themselves, and civilization restored, was a welcome reward. CREATION is a great power.

So, my initial reaction is "that's it?". I feel a bit underwhelmed. Like yes it answered the grand THEME OF THE COMIC, but it didn't really answer any of the many, many questions that existed. I guess Homestuck is more about the journey than the destination.

I guess that's a total of about 27 minutes of animation. I think that qualifies as "nearing half an hour of animation" ... But at the same time, "Act 7 in its entirety" seems like a strange phrase if Act 7 is really only 2 pages long, 1 being the closing curtains. I'm just still trying to convince myself that this is a psyche. How can this possibly not be a psyche? Was he really this obsessed with sticking with his original vision of what he wanted Act 7 to be?

I don't...I don't know. It's. Just...
I think sporkanganza put it best.
Just...I have no idea what to feel right now. That was possibly the least satisfying resolution I could have imagined. Scratch that, I probably would never have imagined that this is what it would be, and calling it a resolution is reaching a little. I just...I really don't know. I wasn't expecting a massive thing resolving every little detail. But this...is something else entirely. I really can't find the words. I'm not angry. Just...feel a little empty right now. If this is really the ending, it's...it is disappointing.

I think destroying the green sun took away Lord English's immortality for some reason. Not sure why.
