Well, that was really disappointing. I was really looking forward to all the plot threads being wrapped up, all the foreshadowing paying off, and at least one twist no one saw coming. Instead, we haven't had a real surprise since Arquius and Gamzee got shoved into Lil' Cal. The animation was beautiful, and it was obvious that Hussie and the team put a ton of work into it, but so many things were left unresolved that I'm desperately hoping we get another "PSYCHE" moment soon.

Wait - So who sendificated the Genesis Frog to young Jade's house? There is literally no explanation anywhere, did it just appear from PLOT MAGIC? I feel like that's a pretty significant point to leave out... Mr Slick was in the volcano for a long time, which is next to Jade's house, and it rocketed up to Skaia alongside the house because the Carapacians Frodo and Sam'd this story. The captchalogued thing Jade had was Earth which was deposited into the new universe, which has been in everyone's possession for a while, in the modified 8ball wallet.

Ok, so what did happen during [S] Act 7? The B1 rings were thrown into the forge. The Universe Frog emerged and developed from tadpole to frog on its way to the battlefield in Skaia. The battlefield exploded, revealing the fully formed frog. Alt Calliope made a black hole (kudos to whoever guessed that!) and absorbed the Green Sun into herself. Fate unknown. This presumably removed its effect from all associated universes, but time is screwy in the Farthest Ring. Business and fate of Aradia showing up to watch destruction of Green Sun unknown. Caliborn saw the house juju, closed the box, turned his attention to his personal ressurection clock. Gained unconditional immortality by first removing and breaking the pendulum (just to be safe) and then destroying it with the crowbar, which is able to break time objects and their effects, even if said effect is a time loop (how does that work, anyway?). This granted him power, which is probably how he got the flashing billiard ball eyes. Vriska unleashed the house juju. Much ongoing shattering of reality, cause unkown (L:o:rd English? Destruction of Green Sun? The house juju?) LE's eyes settle on eight balls, cause and significance unknown. Juju does a dramatic team pose with Vriska, flashes with the symbols of the B1 kids. True effect unknown, outcome unknown. Lends weight to theory that these kids are the ones who are featured in Caliborn's Masterpiece. Fate of all parties unknown. All eight human kids, Terezi, Karkat, Kanaya, Dad, and Calliope enter new universe. Entry procedure unknown, unless that was supposed to represent a teleport. How PM, WV, the consorts, and possibly other carapacians entered new universe unknown, with same caveat. Time passing on Earth sequence: Unknown if this occurred while Jade was holding it before entering universe, during universe entry, while living on Earth after universe entry, or other. How cantown came to be a real thing unknown. Perhaps Jade and Roxy helped. Long term post story unknown. Open for post Homestuck fan fiction. New universe Green Sun universe? Probably not. ~~~~~~~~~ My interpretation is that the universe from which Calliope and Caliborn came was created by, again, the kids from this timeline, possibly on the Condesce's terms. The universe we saw created in Act 7 was a different universe, free from L:o:rd English and probably not under the domain of the Green Sun. I am dubbing them C1 and C2, respectively. Dammit, I wanted all of those unknowns except the long-term post story answered! In a way that added more complexity and resolved said complexity at the same time! Some more timeline shenanigans to analyze would have been nice, too.

I am satisfied that some of the main questions about the Myth of Creation have been answered. Now I am going to watch Act 7 for a second time.
I wonder about Alt-Calliope, the house juju, the symbol of the Light aspect seen on the sky, and many other things that may hint to the puzzles. Some of the puzzles are probably already solved in the guesses already presented in this thead.
The black hole images are inspired by research models. Accretion spirals, bipolar jets, and light bending are visible in the images. That was beautiful too.

I think Altiope destroying the Green Sun took away LE's immortality--indicated by his eyes rolling over to 8-balls. The black hole left after the Green Sun's collapse is the pocket they have to sink LE into. I think it's meant to be implied that this is what happens. Maybe Caliborn's masterpiece happens directly after Collide, and the meet up on the victory platform is after? Wait no--Dirk definitely got revived on the victory platform. Hmmmm. LE's immortality wasn't dependent on the Green Sun. At least, there's never been any reason to suspect that. The Green Sun is just the power source for beings with the first guardian genetic code. Lord English was powered by something deeper than that. I think the 8 balls were just supposed to look threatening. The more it's all sinking, I'm realizing this update has left me feeling even emptier than I initially thought it did. The more I think about everything in this story, leading up to this. Five and a half years I've been following Homestuck, and this...honestly, it's making me really fucking sad. I thought if the final update was gonna make me want to cry, it would be for the complete opposite reason. I really can't begin to express the depths of my disappointment right now. I'm...I'm a fucking mess right now I feel the same. I've seen bad endings before, but this might be the worst, if not only because Homestuck is just so long to give people this kind of ending. I've always said Homestuck is the best fictional work I've ever read/seen, but I don't think I can say that anymore... Hussie isn't stupid, though. He has to know this is the most unsatisfactory ending he could have possibly made, right? I'm still holding out hope that this is a psyche. If not just so I can survive this.

*Emerges from Lotus Time Capsule*
It was perfect. My only regret is that I have no regrets.
Guys, we knew this was going to happen. He said long ago that there would be no final boss battle, and that Act 7 was the epilogue. The only thing I could have asked for was Jack and Ms. Paint. But I am just going to assume that everything went fine for them.

You know what? I'm going to hold my tongue for just a little while, because I'm still suspicious. But I will say that the animation was breathtakingly gorgeous and I'm glad we got to see it. Serious kudos to Angela Sham.

I wonder about Alt-Calliope, the house juju, the symbol of the Light aspect seen on the sky The Light symbol has always been the depiction of both the Earth Sun, right at the beginning of the comic with the title screen. The ominous ending of Collide really seems hollow now.

The ominous ending of Collide really seems hollow now. I forgot about that. That's just another reason that it makes no sense that the ending happened now. The ending to Collide was about as ominous as an ending can be. And yet no plot twist has happened at all. Also, the Condesce is immortal, but Roxy killed her, and didn't even inherit her curse. This act makes absolutely no sense as an ending. There's no way he's serious. No way. That's what I'm going to keep telling myself.

Yeah, I'm not happy about the ending, and I think it might still not be the real ending, but I have no complaints about the animation. It was beautiful and it's really amazing that it was done almost entirely by one person.

Guys Hussie just edited the newspost
"Edit: one more thing. If you're curious about whether there will be anything resembling an epilogue to this ending, yes, I've been thinking about that for some time. It'll take a while to produce though, whatever specific form it ends up taking. Working on Collide took months, and came right down to the wire. I've got more time now though obviously. But that said, I'm not in a huge hurry at this point. Keep an eye out here for developments. There should be plenty of other news in coming months too."

Wow, for a while, especially when it showed everyone walking around their planet, I thought "this had better not be how things resolve" and I got pretty excited seeing Caliborn immediately after because I assumed he'd ruin something. Then the flash ended and I eagerly went to the next page for a resolution. Then there wasn't one. So like ... wow ok I mean, at least the frog scene looked great? I want to believe Hussie knows better than to leave the story there, but I also really don't want to get my hopes up. Just a whole lot of

The ominous ending of Collide really seems hollow now. Everything seems really hollow now. Ever since Collide there's been the huge ominous feeling that something is about to go wrong. The Condesce? Actually dead? No way that could be true, especially with that immortality curse. If getting stabbed through the chest could really kill her, the Handmaid would never have worked for LE in the first place. Speaking of LE, what was with all the horses surrounding him? Was that just a joke, that Hussie apparently sees horses everywhere? How did the kids get to LOCAM to fight Caliborn in the Masterpiece? When are they going to do that? What did the house juju even do when Vriska pulled it out? So many unanswered questions, and ominous foreshadowing not cashed in.

The Light symbol has always been the depiction of both the Earth Sun, right at the beginning of the comic with the title screen. I wondered if it was related to Vriska's opening up the juju box, but the Sun explanation also makes sense.
