Well, since you put it like, kinda nicely... José doesn't know all the details, but from what she's heard, the only way to make AIs fast enough to launch the ships in time was to like totally upload the minds of 'willing volunteers' to donate their lives to the cause. Thus they like totally uploaded their brains to the ships and left their bodies, essentially like totally dying in the process.
Apparently like, the Earth humans thought that if we were all totally on the same ship they'd, like, have babies too soon. José would never have babies 'too soon' like obviously! But she bets Shi would be like totally one of those Earth rabbits she's heard of before, they, like, totally breed a lot or something.

I'm working that out.
I suspect that he's he means well, even if he's a bit trollish. However, given he's a meta entity, he is extremely dangerous nonetheless. I suspect the best thing to do would be to try to establish a steady communication with him and to not piss him off anymore. As I've already developed a translator to his... Unique method of speech, the just have to get to the hard part of drawing him out. So far, I've discovered he has a soft spot for Jose at the very least. So that's good.
But hey, it's not polite to talk about someone who's listening.
