He's never really had a moving target to train with before, using dummies or simply imagining an enemy.
Though he's not very computer-savvy and wouldn't be able to program something like that into the ship himself.
He also understands why the ship doesn't exactly have the ability to spawn enemies that would actually cause harm to him, either. He just has to hope he's ready to go up against the real thing if they ever reach New Earth and end up having to fight. He'll protect his friends as much as he can, even if they're kind of... It appears he has a little more than just night terrors. The system has been unable to locate or isolate the cause, however.
He has always had strange 'visions' of sorts. It's usually what causes him to be overly picky about what his friends do - as if seeing what happens to them in the future - trying to alter their destinies into ones that will make them happy. Even if they're 'just visions' and make his friends hate him.
Choosing the next humans to go on the ship based on their parents probably wasn't the most... Ideal choice.
