Well... Whilst those long gone cannot answer... And those too young to remember cannot recall... I believe one survivor can. Quite well, actually.
More than half of the land of the 'free' were blinded by an alternate world that didn't exist and pulled most who dared believe it - even for a second - thousands of years behind the rest of the world and those who could brave reality.
Those who could turn their eyes away from the attention-grabbing media of their land grew ever more paranoid of their mortal enemies across the oceans. A land of red and gold, of opposing ideals, and nuclear weaponry.
This had lasted for a while until one day, inside a secret base within America, behind a wall of blood and false pride... The nuclear early warning system went off. Twice. One of the spy satellites detected a number of four incoming missiles from Russia. The day those still in reality had all feared, came.
Without much thought, their puppeteered overlord pressed the nuclear button, and the might of the American nuclear arsenal was finally unleashed. Hundreds of missiles rose from the ground and into the atmosphere. Heading right for Russia in eastern Europe. The Russian early nuclear warning system triggered as well.
So many nukes were launched towards Russia that they obliterated the American and Russian forces stationed there - along with London and Paris minutes after. Literally, so many nukes were launched that barely any city was left unaffected by the blast.
Within less than a quarter of an hour, most of Europe on both sides of the iron curtain became a nuclear wasteland.
A white, blinding light and sirens filled the sky of America not soon after, followed by the explosion of the Russian nukes. The third world war lasted only a day.
Those who survived the nuclear destruction came together as one, forming the project various countries had previously talked about in unison, T.L.W.R.T.
They only had a small amount of time before nuclear winter ravaged the lands. |

Truth be told, she has knowledge of a project she should not have knowledge of, the project created by the government... The Life We Raised Together.
How? Well... Again, this child need not remember such details... Shameful ones, far less important than what had happened here...
She can already feel the bitter cold approaching her and her newborn daughter.
This single mother must be swift. |
