Basically get to play "push through the pain" until I can get this drainage tube out of me and finally go home. Doesn't hurt much at all laying in the bed, mildly hurts when standing and walking around (which the more I do the faster I can recover) and rather hurts when going between the two.

I quit Tumblr a while ago, but kept a few blogs in my bookmarks. Now I'm slowly phasing that out too. A recipe blog I used to follow recently started reblogging social justice posts. I want to learn how to make food, not be shamed for being born a white middle-class American. It's not my fault that stupid people are stupid.
On a lighter note, my attempt to break my bad habits are going well. I've tried to stop biting my nails before by putting bandaids on my fingers--didn't work. I guess I must have trained myself to do it less that time, though, because now I don't even need the bandaids. I'm aware enough of it to realize when I'm going to start biting my nails and stop myself, and as long as I keep my hands busy and walk off the urge to do it. I just hope I'm not going to start doing it in my sleep.

Sounds just like my appendectomy. That darn tube! Hope you recover quickly and peacefully. It feels *super* gross when they pull it out of you. Finally got discharged earlier today. Fingers crossed that there won't be any further complications or nothing. Only incision that hurts is the one from my navel. (makes sense, it's the biggest and it goes through my abdominal muscles) Had a minor gross scare when I was discharged and standing waiting for my dad to pull up. The gauze pad on my tube hole thing felt damp. Got home and changed it, fortunately it was what seems to me a healing-promising pale yellow color that had saturated the pad but wasn't anything more than that. Seems to have closed over like they said it should but I'm still kind of scared that it'll suddenly start leaking and I'll have to go back in. Or that I'll end up with a clot and deep vein thrombosis or a stroke or something. I may be feeling a little cautiously pessimistic.

One of my professors just cancelled his lecture today suddenly. This is either the third or fourth time this term he has done so.

The job hunt is officially back on as of tomorrow, which means I'm going to have to go out and interact with "people" in their natural habitat rather than from the safety of a computer screen. I wonder if full riot gear will be enough to protect me or if I should pack a can of repellent and a decoy for when things get dicey.

It is my birthday today! I'm officially eighteen years old and no longer a minor. I only asked for money, and I ended up with like $170 USD. Overall, I'd say it's been a pretty good day.

I feel depressed, friendless and that nobody wants to talk to me. I have resorted to writing very nasty stuff to get a reaction from people.

Man, I'm sorry things aren't going very well, but writing nasty stuff isn't a good way to get a response. That tends to be how you wind up with nobody wanting to talk to you in actuality. If you ever need someone to talk to you can just PM me, I'm usually up for a chat if people need it.

Speaking of birthdays, it was my birthday a few days ago (the 16th)! I didn't really do anything special aside from taking a couple much needed time off days and giving myself a four day weekend, but given that I've been conserving time off hours in order to rebuild a buffer after my vacation to Scotland last year, that break was much needed.

So the modem in our house is in my grandparents' room and they turn it off every night along with the rest of the computer stuff in there.
I just got told they want to move it into the spare room with the other computer, so they won't have to turn it off.
I'm never going to sleep again! \o/

so i've been dealing with some stomach issues for a while that have had me on a really strict diet, which has really sucked. anyway i went to the doctor today and got the OK to start breaking my diet here and there, to test how my recovery's going. i just downed a bunch of nutella, after having not had chocolate in ages. i feel a little acid refluxy but oh my god was it worth it. i'm gonna give it a few days and then get myself a goddamn coffee. i haven't had coffee since september. i can't wait.

I thought I had already gotten sick with the flu. I thought I was done with this bullshit.
I was wrong.
Otherwise, my weekend has been pretty good. I went to a Homeschooler conference- yes, we actually leave the house occasionally- which was pretty fun, I went to the doctor last week and she's going to give mom a hard time until she schedules an appointment with a therapist with me, I got the first A I've ever gotten on a Japanese kanji quiz, and I have *plenty* of fuel for the Out of Context Quotes thread.
That doesn't exactly make up for my fever, which is between 100 to 106 depending on whether my thermometer behaves. I thought I was done with this shit, after having two colds in the winter which were precisely a month apartment. Was so very wrong... Goodness forbid I have to take another absence.
So, in conclusion...
FUCK.

So I just went back and re-read the first webcomic I ever read, and it's hard to put how it's making me feel in words. Surreal, maybe? But no, there's more to it than that. It's strange to think that this was what got me into comics, and even the internet as a whole. It feels odd to remember how it shaped my interests and ideas regarding comics in ways that I had forgotten, and it's interesting to see how my opinions of it have changed now that I have a broader knowledge and understanding of webcomics. And finally, it makes me feel strange to see posts I made in the comment section that I don't even remember writing! And to add to all that was the circumstances behind my reread: At one point the comic went on hiatus, so I stopped following it. When I checked back later, I noticed there was a new latest page, but at the time I didn't have the time to catch up. I kept pushing off doing so until just a few days ago, years after when I had stopped. I had recently finished rereads of a couple of my favorite comics, and this one, despite not being a favorite, was the first webcomic I ever read and I had been neglecting it, so I felt it deserved a reread too, and by doing so, I would read right past where I stopped and right into the "new" parts ... which turned out to be a couple irrelevant side things, ending with a note by the author saying he was not going to continue the comic. Even before that, in pages I had already read, it was obvious the comic had lost its direction. It just felt strange seeing how this comic that has such significance to me just fizzled out and died.

So... a coworker handed me an invitation to his wedding. I don't want to be rude, but ... I don't want to go; I barely know the guy and weddings are boring (doubly so since I don't dance). According to my parents "people don't give out wedding invitations unless the want you to be there" and that I really should go because of that, but I feel like he just gave out invitations to the entire team at work, as the only time I ever interact with him is as part of big meetings with the entire team there. He's a nice enough guy and I don't want to disrespect him, but I just don't know him well enough to want to suffer through hours of boredom amongst what I assume will be a bunch of people I don't even know just to be there for him. Furthermore, he specifically said when handing me the invitation that there was no need to bring a gift, but yet again, my parents contradict that, saying he just said that to be polite, and it's only proper to bring a gift to any wedding, even if it's just $10 in a card. Well, that much is less important; I can part with $10, but I'd feel weird if I was the only one not close to them to bring a gift. I'm really not sure what to do here. So remember this? Well I ultimately decided to go and RSVPed as such. Then the wedding was this past Saturday ... and I completely forgot. That's pretty much the worst thing I could have done and I'm so annoyed at myself.

I just finished my last exam today, which means no more school until September!
I really need to find a summer job in the meantime, but none of my interviews have gone well so far.
