Your name is ~~AERITH~~ AERIS GAINSBOROUGH, and you're pretty sure THIS GUY isn't supposed to be here. In fact, you are POSITIVE he shouldn't still be here. One-hundred percent positive.

Right now, you are, as EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER knows, DEAD. You've just been kind of chilling in THE LIFESTREAM for a while, but now this guy just shows up. And you're very, VERY certain that he should be ALIVE at this point. It's good to see him again, but now isn't the time. Now DEFINITELY isn't the time for him to be here, but somehow, CLOUD STRIFE is RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF YOUR VERY DEAD SELF.

This can only mean one thing: He's actually dead this time.

What will you do?

Note: Hello, everyone! I haven't done anything MSPA-related since about 2015, but I've decided to take another crack at a forum adventure using the done-to-death Peggy Sue plot that involves, you guessed it, Cloud going to save Aerith/Aeris. With her dead future self somehow accompanying him throughout as a companion.

I'll fill in the plot holes as we go along.

Why FFVII? Fuck it, I dunno. I've been playing this game nonstop recently so I figured I might as well make some bad crack fanfiction of it. It won't run ENTIRELY on user suggestions, but there'll definitely be user influence in important (and decidedly not important) decisions. Have fun!

Oh, you shouldn't do this. He's dead. But the temptation...You poke Cloud. Several times. Eventually, he lets out a groan of protest and stands up, disoriented.

You decide to explain what's going on.

The gist of it is that Cloud, once again, has ended up on the BUSINESS END OF A SWORD. Which was the last thing anyone wanted at this moment. Cloud looks absolutely mortified at this, uncharacteristically so. You try to assure him that his companions are still down there, and that they're going to fight in his memory. You try to assure him that YOU HAVE A PLAN TO FINISH THIS YOURSELF.

You wouldn't have called it your main plan, not ever.

But it never hurts to have a backup plan.

Cloud has put his trust in you. It's been too long since you last saw each other. You take his hand and gently lift him off the ground. He apologizes for his failure.

You tell him it's all right.

Maybe it isn't all right, and maybe he did fail in what he did, but you? You WILL NOT FAIL. Not after this.

What other Lifestream ghosts? They don't seem to be present, suspiciously so...

Probably a long while, actually. The gist is that I can't do art all the time, and that a lot of this is gonna need to be text-only if the story's gonna move anywhere.

...Also, I've lost access to my PC for a while - Just moved across the country, so I'm still getting settled in!

Thanks for the love on the art so far, though - I promise there'll be more once the prologue has finished up.
