I have an unhealthy obsession with that man. I can't be the only one.
Cage has been on my mind since I started on a quest to watch every Nic Cage movie ever made, which is an undertaking, but not too hard. I am already 25 movies in, and I am doing it for multiple reasons. First, because it's Nicolas Cage. Second, because you get a wide range of movies, from good to bad to mediocre. Third, because you get a wide range of good, a wide range of bad, and a wide range of mediocre with so many movies. I am also lucky enough to have our local art house theater running a special Nicolas Cage month in July, so my timing couldn't be better.
But anyway, I'm wondering, who here actually enjoys Nic Cage? What are your opinions on him as an actor? Favorite movie? Favorite quote? Any weird stories about your mom dating him in high school? Let's hear it.

From what I know, he's some kind of American Jean-Claude Van Damme: the guy everyone knows but almost nobody has seen a movie of. I liked Ghost Rider, but that's all I know from Cage's cinematography. He's got an iconic face. +10% boner.

Seems about right. I do have a friend who just pokes fun at me and calls him a "living meme," but I counter it's because he's only ever seen Face/Off.

Well, aside from the fact that I've never heard of Jean-Claude Van Damme, I'm inclined to agree. I certainly know of Cage, but the only movie I've seen with him in it is National Treasure. Anyway, fun fact: You know Homestuck's Nick Cage Song? Until learning otherwise, I thought him saying "not the bees" was "that's a beast" and "I'm a vampire" was "I'm a man on fire."

"I'm a man on fire". This is strangely hilarious to me

Watching Nic Cage movies has definitely heightened my ability to pick out the quotes from that song. And because I'm bad at memorizing quotes, I now have an arsenal of them from that song. It is glorious. I'm also going to leave this here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll5xHq84A8E

I just remembered that one time I went to Wal-Mart to buy Fruit Gushers, and I was walking around in circles looking for the damn things when I came across one of those hugeass bins filled with B movies and there were a shit ton of Nic Cage films. Each one five bucks. Now that's what I call a fucking shteal.
But I had Fruit Gushers to buy, and only 6 dollars on me :c

But sharkalien, the best are free on netflix. And by the best, I mean the worst crap of his career from 2011 when he was in tax debt.
And The Weather Man, which was actually pretty worth the watch. Nic Cage doesn't do many good movies, so it's refreshing when he does. Especially the ones you can get for only like $7 a month.

I was surprised by how much I liked Con Air. And when I saw Steve Buscemi? Fucking hook, line, and sinker, dude, I love anything with Steve Buscemi in it

I'm saving Con Air for last for that exact reason. I mean sure, he won an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas, but John Cusack, and Steve Buscemi? Cage's glorious hair? The added layer of Homestuck connections? It's perfect.

Why hello, Con Air! How does it feel to have Nic Cage inside of you?

I sincerely maintain that Nic Cage is among the best actors of our time. Vampire's Kiss is maybe the best vampire movie ever, Face Off is fantastic, Con Air is a classic, and the man himself should be considered a National Treasure. Okay, maybe that's hyperbolizing a little. I actually think most of the flak he gets is because he usually out-acts most of his co-stars. There are also two podcasts dedicated to him, CageCast and #CageClub, both of which are worth listening to if you're interested in dissecting Cage's filmography, from his worst to his best.
