We are potentially seeing the last we will ever see of the old forums. If they ever return we must make sure we all make backups. In the meantime web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mspaforums.com/* contains quite a lot of old peices but it's an absolute dog to download from it. If anyone finds more fragments, especially if it's easier to download from, post it here. Together we will piece the puzzle back together to a place where it can't be deleted.

I don't want to get you down or anything but scraping a forum from an archive is such a monumental task that you're unlikely to achieve anything by it. Better to look for specific threads that you think need to be archived, fanworks, RPS, or Adventures for example, rather than literally everything. To realistically save everything you'd need to grab the SQL database, which may not exist in a usable state any more (or maybe it's fine, we just don't know).

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but clicking that link is pretty much crashing my computer.

It crashes mine to, I usually browse through the individual links.
If there is anything you think we need to grab in particular i'd like to hear it.

How do you download/archive/backup a thread from the web archive? Also how do you access the google cache (?)?

Thankyou for your contribution. I strongly suggest we all pony up any saved files.

This is... this is fucking incredible. I kind of wish creators were as great as this. A lot of them are active in their communities, but none of them have really went this far with people, it kind of makes me love Hussie a little more.

By having done it ages ago. It's really simple, actually. We only need a Hero of Time to go back to when the forums were still online and grab a backup of them.

Did anyone happen to have Eversor's work saved? He's feeling pretty down about the loss of so much work and I'm trying to see what can be done to reclaim some of it.

A good idea would be to list the old administrators and simply ask for backups. Nothing more. Granted, they probably have none (I said the reverse in the past, but it was before learning how much exactly What Pumpkin was detached from the administration), but it's worth a try.

I'm linking this here too, since it's very relevant. Unfortunately it's difficult/impossible to load a lot of the threads but there are some nice stuff!

I gave this a look for the first time since it got bumped up, and I have to say that I am really glad people went digging so hard for as much as they could find. Some of these are very precious memories, ones I didn't expect to ever see again, so thank you once more.

So, say I wanted to archive what I could of a specific RP thread in a google doc. I've done what I could (copypasting the first 3 pages from the thread's title at the time of its closure), but if I changed the URL that I'm searching to what the thread was called at different points, would I be able to get different results? And if yes, what was the forum's system of url-writing?
web.archive.org/web/20130926181809/http://mspaforums.com/showthread.php?54178-Super-High-School-Level-Dangan-Ronpa-Roleplay-%28THREAD-1-COMPLETE%29/page2
This is the archive of the thread from when it had the title "Super High School Level Dangan Ronpa Roleplay (THREAD 1 COMPLETE)" at the end of the thread. But if, for example, I were to change "THREAD ONE COMPLETE" to "Prologue: accepting submissions," would I be able to potentially see results from that time period? And if so, how would I format that in the URL bar?
