She sounds like a pretty terrible person all around, so like The One Guy said, it's probably best to just ignore her and take some satisfaction from the fact that she is definitely wrong. But to address something more specific, for what it's worth, the statement "art isn't something you learn, you're born with talent" is 110% untrue in my experience. Maybe some people have a natural inclination for it, but absolutely nobody comes out of the womb with amazing drawing skills, and any actual professional artist will tell you hard work and practice are the only way people become great. If that's her attitude towards art, you're going to be MILES ahead of her in no time, so just keep practicing and let the haters keep projecting their own insecurities on other people  |

Halloween always makes me want to write something with lots of occult themes. I think it would be a lot of fun to design a magic system like that. Magic circles, sacrificial daggers, skulls, candles, horrifying beasts whose appearance defies description... Alas, I'm already working on another idea and that stuff doesn't fit in with the rules of the setting. SOMEDAY. But I wanna get this current idea out first.
