Orion ==> Make a mental note to get in some self defence lessons. Remembering how Jericho died and your recent embarrassment against that Snake should remind you its a dangerous universe out there. Bodyguards are only good when they are there. You would very much appreciate not getting murdered or killed in a very R-Rated manner, thank you very much. Generals die so much more from being killed on planets under Novescalan control by rebel cells than old age or sickness. You'd like to not be one of them. So yeah, definintely want to learn how to fight, if you can't beat a snake how are you going to beat a person?
Maybe you can get some fancy armor and a sword. Sure everyone primarily uses guns, but swords are cool. Fayre ==> Continue exploring towards the music. Mysterious Music Player ==> Be Maia?
?: Over the waves peaceful at night ?: There among the stars glowing in the dark You keep following the music as it grows louder, signaling that you are drawing closer to it. You like how enchanting the voice is. Is this a song from Novescala or from one of their many colonies??: You watch over me. ?: Smiling down patiently. Just squeezing past a few more flower bushes, you even put another flower similiar to the one that Orion gave you back into your hair. The music is getting louder, so that's a good sign.
Maia: Carry me, to my love Maia: O'er the sea to the clouds above
Found it! The woman is very elegantly dressed, and is just as beautiful as her voice. She's playing some kind of stringed mini-harp looking thing, strumming it's strings as she sings and hums while seated upon one of the low stone walls in the garden. There is a pale blue veil that is resting upon the stone beside her. You can't see her face but she seems familiar somehow. Did you meet her already? Maybe when you were still blindfolded by bandages and high off of pain meds.
Maia: Where I know he's waiting for me It'd probably be rude to interrupt her and go over, so you'll stick to hiding behind the flower bush and watching her in awe like a stalker. You're almost as mesmerized by her beauty as you are by her music.
Maia: Carry me, to my love
Oh! She must have somehow noticed you. The strumming stops and the song cuts off mid-way as the woman turns her head to look at you--
Holy fuck.
You are not proud of the horrified gasp that leaves your mouth when you see her face. It's not like you have a right to judge, you're not exactly beauty yourself, but damn you were not expecting what you saw. And now you're praying to any God that will listen that she didn't see you because you're not sure you can handle the embarassment. No, not embarassment. Shame.
Maia: It's quite alright, little dove, you can come out.
Shit, she saw you.

Fayre ==> go over to her and introduce yourself. She might be nice. You awkwardly walk over to the low stone wall that the woman is sititng at, unable to look her in the eyes you keep your gaze adverted as you come to a stop beside her. Fayre: Um, hello. Fayre: It's nice to meet you, ma'am. I'm--Maia: No need for formalities, little dove. Maia: You are Fayre, Orion brought you to the castle. Fayre: T-that's right, how do you know? Maia: Very little happens in my home that I don't notice. Your arrival was not one of them. Maia: It is not often that my brother brings a friend home, after all.Her brother? Oh... oh! She's Orion's other sister... Maia, right? You hadn't expected it, but, she does look more similiar to Orion, at least her hair is pale like his, even if it's more blueish. Maia: Do not be afraid, come up and join me, dove.Maia ==> Give Fayre the real info she needs. She's clearly going to be by Orion's side for a while. . . And, well, you worry for him. Give her a secret mission to keep him safe? You climb up onto the wall and take a seat beside her, though you are sure to keep a bit of distance. Would it be rude to sit up close to a princess-- or is she technically a queen? You don't know. She idly hums, reaching over to play with the veil that lay's beside her, cradling her instrument in her free arm.Maia: This must feel so strange for you. A young child in a new world, surrounded by strangers of a foriegn race. Fayre: It was a little off-putting at first. But It's not that bad. It's not like you've never seen Novescalan's before. You lived on a colony planet before this, there were hundreds of her kind living there, you just never really interacted with them before.
Maia: I am glad that Orion met and brought you here. Maia: Though I wish it could have been under better circumstances.
You suppose meeting someone new by being found crippled and blind in the forest and then being attacked by a giant monster snake that almost kills you both is not exactly a great way to make new friends.
Fayre: It could have been worse.
Maia: It could have.
Maia: Orion has lived his whole life in the castle, embassies and on flagships, surrounded by advisors and soldiers. Maia: You are perhaps the first real friend he has gotten to make who was not obligated to be with him because of who he is.
Fayre: Really? I'm his first friend? Fayre: That's... Fayre: That's kind of sad, actually.
Maia: Perhaps so. But I hope that you can continue to be his friend. Maia: Orion will need a friend.
Maia sighed as she put the veil back over her face, obscurring her dreadful face and the sorrowful expression she had worn.
Maia: If it is not too much to ask, I wish to ask a favor of you. Maia: Within the coming days Orion is going to be sent away. To claim his own world. Maia: You are likely to be going with him, too.
Fayre: I'm not against space travel to see new worlds. Fayre: But isn't it a good thing that he's going to form his own colony?
Maia: It is. It should be. Maia: He has looked forward to this moment his whole life. Maia: But I do not think that Orion fully understands what this entails.
Fayre: He has sounded pretty excited for this. Fayre: Why do you think he doesn't understand what's going to happen?
Maia: If there is already a civilization on his world, then there will be a high probability war will occur. Maia: You are too young to truly understand just how bloody and terrible war is. Maia: Orion is a sweet boy, he has a kind and gentle heart. Maia: I fear that if a war occurs, it will break him.
Maia: Little dove... Maia: I love my brother dearly. I love him as the stars love the night, as the sun loves the dawn. Maia: The last thing I wish is to see him hurt by what he will have to do. Maia: When you go with him on his conquest, please keep my brother safe, keep him strong.
Even though you could not see Maia's expression anymore, you can sense just how pleading she is by the tone of her voice, how important this is to her. She loves and cares for Orion so much that she's asking you, a girl she barely knows, to keep Orion from falling under the pressure and stress of this whole thing. Even if Orion wasn't your friend... how could you refuse this request?

==> what happens when you've conquered everything? The universe isn't *that* large, right?Fayre: The universe can't actually be infinite. Fayre: You guys are bound to run out of planets to take over. Fayre: What's the endgame plan for Novescala once everything's under your control?Maia: Then we finally rest. Maia: Well, realistically our time and resources would no longer be to expanding our empire and rather completely dedicated to maintaining it. Maia: And it is unlikely that we will ever conquer everything. There are other empires, though drastically smaller than ours Maia: And in the far reaches of the universe we have yet to explore, there may be empires bigger than ours.
Maia: But it is my- our hope that once we've conquered all that we can... Maia: there may truly be peace.Fayre: Peace? Maia: No more wars for political power or control. Maia: No more hate and distrust brewed only by the planet you come from Maia: Everyone going to bed with full bellies, diseases cured. Maia: planets no longer dying from poison caused by the people. Maia: Peace. That kind of endgame want almost justifies all the bloodshed they've doubtlessly caused to get their empire to where it is now. You can kind of get behind making sure everyone is healthy and happy and content. You personally know what it's like to be at the bottom; hungry, sick and such, and you can see why them being in charge might be good. At least from Maia's stance, it's not like their colonizing streak is out of malicious intentions. But she's only a third of the party... well, fourth once Orion joins the game. So you can't really say she speaks for what the others intend when there's nothing else to conquer. ==> Ask why Orion and Alula can rarely ever be in a room together without looking like they want to kill the other?Fayre: Anyways, could you tell me what's going on between Orion and Alula? Fayre: When the two were together earlier, the tension between them was suffocating. Fayre: They're siblings and stuff, I would have thought they'd at least get along?
The two looked like they absolutely hated each other. If you're being honest, it was pretty uncomfortable being around them in the throne room when they were like that. Surely there was some kind of cause for all of this? Animosity like that between a brother and sister doesn't spring up from nothing.
Maia: Alula and Orion... they have always been an... Maia: Interesting pair.
Fayre: The way you say that makes me think that your 'interesting' and mine aren't the same.
Maia: Hahaha perhaps so Maia: You may not believe it, but years ago those two were incredibly close.
Fayre: You're right. Fayre: I don't believe it.
Maia: You are an amusing one, little one. Maia: But I'm not lying. When Orion was little, he was near inseperable from Alula. Maia: He spent a few years on her capital colony, Stygai, to live with her when he was young.
Fayre: Capital colony?
Maia: It is the colony that serves as each of our seat of power, though Novescala is the capital of the empire as a whole. Maia: For several decades Alula had been absent from Novescala she spent most of her time on Stygai or on her other colonies. Maia: There was some... trouble going on our homeworld here, so Mother and I sent Orion to live with Alula while we sorted it out. Maia: It got fixed in a couple of months and we expected Orion to come back, but he wanted to stay with her. Maia: Surprising, because even back then she had a terribly sour mood, harsh attitude and was generally difficult to be around.
You get the feeling that Alula has always been difficult to be around, even when she was born she was probably extremely difficult to deal with. Even as a baby she probably had that harsh frown of hers while batting away bottles of milk and demanding the strongest coffee while she wrote up papers and reports on why the baby food she was getting wasn't suitable and that her naptime needs to be changed to a different time of day.
Fayre: Why did he want to stay with Alula?
Maia: I don't know all the reasons, only that Orion looked up to and adored Alula as much as Alula seemed to adore him. Perhaps that was reason enough? Maia: At times it seemed as though Alula was more a doting mother to him than a sister. Even mother jested about giving Alula parental custody over him with how they behaved. Maia: And Orion admired her, idolized her. She was the eldest, one of the greatest in military tactics, was both beautiful and incredibly intelligent. Maia: She was the kind of leader he wanted to be when he grew up.
Fayre: Huh, it's really hard to imagine them like that with how the two are now. Fayre: What changed?
Maia: What changed?
Maia: Much had changed, in them and in the world around them. Maia: Alula grew colder, Orion grew older, the blood between them began to sour and rot. Maia: But it's not my place to talk about what happened to them. Maia: But deep down, I think they still love each other, beneath all the layers of hurt and anger.
Fayre: Do you think they'll be close again?
Maia: Maybe. But it'll take time.
You hope that Maia is right. If she's right about how the two used to be, then you think that it'd be nice if Orion could have that sort of bond with his sister again.

==> Be Orion
==> Well I suppose that Fayre and Orion should certainly begin preparing for this adventure, who knows how long you two will have after the fleet arrives to get everything in order. Best make every second count.
Also Orion ==> Skip the fluff
For the next few days, preparing is all you think you do. Every day you start it off with a hot pot of coffee, not a cup, not a glass, an entire pot. You drag yourself through the halls down three doors and get Fayre up and on her feet before your day actually starts. You study various battles, conquests and diplomatic successes until your eyes become too sore to read another word, you go through combat excercise after combat excercise until your limbs ache and can barely move. Occasionally you get a bout of rest.
Your routine becomes very static, so much of the same thing being done over and over that it makes your head spin. Wake up, study, train, study, sleep then repeat. Sometimes the texts feel like they're leaping off the pages with how much is going on, and you're fairly certain you've been surviving solely off of coffee.
But as you work, time begins to fly, the days passing in a blur.
The days fly by so quickly that before you know it, the fleet that mother had sent you had arrived, and all the new recruits from Novescala who had decided to join your new army are already filling the landing zone, saying their goodbyes to family while looking for their new commanding officers to find out what they had to do. You see so many different uniforms filling the crowds. Silvers, blues, golds and violets were the norm, but there was a surplus of red bleeding through the crowd of soldiers and guards.
Among Novescala, the color on the uniform has traditionally dictated what branch they served. Many Novescalans may go through various colors over their service, while others may stay in the same uniform until their retirement or death. Violet has always been Mother's army, blue belonged to Maia and gold to Alula. Silver was Novescala, the soldiers who didn't serve under a specific member of the royal house but rather served Novescala as a whole, including the castle guard and homeworld stationed soldiers. But red?
Red was new.
Red was your color.
It was almost hard to believe even as you stared at all the soldiers, all the red and black uniforms. You really did have an army, these were soldiers sworn to your service. Yours. Not your mothers or your sisters just sticking around because they were ordered to guard you, but soldiers under your command.
There is a lot more people in red uniforms then you figured there would be in the few days that you've known that you were getting an army. You kind of suspect that maybe your mother had been getting soldiers recruited for some time already, well before even telling you about any of this.
As you and Fayre began to walk through the crowds, you could hear conversations all around you from the soldiers, from families bidding farewell to their children or siblings who had enlisted to join your army, from brothers and friends saying goodbye as they wore differing uniforms.
Departing Soldier: Can someone tell me to where the ship directory is? Departing Soldier: I still need to figure out which ship I'm assigned to.
A Mother: I know you'll do Novescala proud, but be safe! Young Recruit: I know, I'll be careful. Grandmother: Make sure to kick some ass!
Blue Soldier: Can't believe you're finally joining the military life Blue Soldier: I thought my little brother would stay home his whole life Younger Brother: Haha, well can't let you hog all the spotlight.
You scan the crowds, so many soldiers and families, you almost feel small around them, but you assume that Fayre must feel smaller.
Orion: We're looking for Sirius, if you see him let me know.
Fayre: You'd think it'd be easier finding him in this crowd, but it's not.
Orion: He'll stick out like a sore thumb, trust me. Orion: He'll probably be the only one still bearing mothers purple still, can't imagine he'd discard it even if he was under my command.
You push through the crowds, getting a few surprsied gasps from those who recognize you, and continue to try and find the commander you'd be working with. It's not much luck. So you push further, eventually the crowds begin to disperse as you and Fayre begin reaching the supplies loading area.
There are huge crates almost as tall as Fayre all around, all with different lables to them. Ammunition, rifles, armor, frag grenades, melee weapons, and the names of dozens of others, from weapons, tech, defense and medical needs. You assume the food is all being stored somewhere cooler than here.
Fayre: Is that him? He's the only one wearing purple.
You follow her gaze and--
It's him.
There's no face to actually see to be certain, but you're sure there's no one else that could possibly be. Only Sirius painted things onto his armor.
But there he was, Commander Sirius, clad in his military armor rather than a uniform, stood between the boxes as he read from his pad, probably checking the supplies to make sure nothing is missing and everything is accounted for. You remember that he was a diligent worker, you're glad that hasn't changed.

==> Continue to admire his fine armored self from afar.
Orion ==> Pause just a little and observe him
Fayre ==> Uncharacteristically remain silent. Commander Sirius in military armour is an impressive figure. Commander Sirius may not be any Jericho, but he has done more than enough to garner both respect and awe from those below him and above him in the chain of command. Mother wouldn't have sent him to be your second in command if he wasn't the best. You can't help but linger back, watching as the Commander works and just staring in acute amazement at the armor. The new MkIII Alcorian Vanguard full set. Armor strong enough to endure more damage, impact protection, shields that can take more abuse and recharge faster than than the previous model, and it's enviromental adjustors allow soldiers to march in the most extreme of terrains. Is that the kind of armor you'll be wearing when you charge into battle? You hope so. Fayre doesn't say anything so you don't know what she's thinking, but you get the feeling it's more of a nervous 'he looks like he can kill us both easily' rather than a 'he looks really cool' coming from her.Commander Sirius> You didn't make Commander by not being observant. Observe Orion and his friend while finishing your checks, but don't leave him waiting too long.
You've had Orion and the Orcalun under watch the moment they reached the area, there's no way you haven't noticed them staring at you like a couple of fangirls. You've been watching them from the corner of your eye... visor... while you finished the supplies check. It's important to make sure everything is in order. Run out of the wrong thing while in Deep Space, far, far away from any galaxy and solar system to restock, it can be lethal. You've been in the military long enough to know how hundreds of ships have been lost to the void because they didnt have enough fuel to break through Deep Space to get from one galaxy to the other. This fleet it is even more crucial, you'll be carrying the Prince on these ships.
If you run out of supplies and die stranded in space with him on board, the Gods only know what his mother and sisters would do to you. Never before has a royal actually died before in history, you'd prefer not to be the fleet that proves it wrong.
But you finish up your supplies check after confirming all is accounted for, send a message for the cargo workers to start putting them on the ships; you'll have to do another check before the fleet takes off, of course. Best not to keep your prince waiting.
Sirius: My Prince, you can come out now.

==> Go meet Sirius. Salute him out of force of habit, or abrupt nervousness? Try to ask him if the supplies are all ship-shape? Fayre> Also attempt to salute. Accidently smack yourself with the metal hand while doing so. Orion: Commander Sirius, sir!
You don't actually need to salute him, technically he'd salute you, but it was a force of habit, an impulse really, that made you act like the new rookie rather than the head honcho of this entire fleet. You watch from the corner of your eye as Fayre salutes him as well. Fayre: Owwww Well by that very solid sounding thunk and hiss of pain, you can imagine that she accidentally just hit herself in the face rather than saluting him. Had to have hurt, what with having a pretty strong metal hand.
Sirius: At ease, my prince.
You lower your hand and try to ignore the way it trembles with childish excitement. It's taking all you have not to start spazzing out like the eager and energetic kid you are at heart.
Orion: Commander, are all the supplies in order?
Sirius ==> Orion is still such an awkward kid, but its good to see him again. Launch into a detailed and fast paced breakdown of the supply inventory. When he looks like he's about to crack, surprise him with a hug. You can't really tell what expression Sirius is making behind the dark tint of his visor, but you get a hint of amusement from him as he nudges with his head towards all the crates around him.
Sirius: Everything is in ship-shape form.
Sirius: Medic bay on every ship is prepared with treatments to handle contagion, exposure and malnutrion, as well as a dozen crates to handle military injuries.
Sirius: Provision wise, we have a variety of general ration bars and paste to non-perishable foods, you will find a full-length log in your terminal
Sirius: I've just finished with military stock in the case of combat
It doesn't take long for his words to stop making any sense at all. They're just blurring together with technical terms and item names that you don't know anything about and you quickly find yourself lost. Fayre isn't faring any better and you know you're both just giving him a blank stare that gives away just how much you don't understand anything that the commander is saying. But then, before you even realize what's happening, the Commander stops his spiel and starts laughing. Sirius: It is very good to see you again, my prince. Sirius: I hoped to see the day you wear the commander uniform. Sirius: Though by the looks of it, you could use some sleep.Orion (while being hugged) ==> *Giant Snake Flashbacks* Normally you wouldn't mind hugs, you like hugs. Except Sirius is holding you really tight and his armor is not exactly comfortable to be pressed up against, in fact this kind of hurts. Worse, it's making you remember the last hug you had that was tight and uncomfortable and the giant snake is not exactly a good memory.

>Orion: Feel afraid, anxious, heart palpitations and other PTSD symptoms.
>Sirius: "What's wrong big boy?" You know it's not exactly the best kind of response to have when being given a hug, but you can't help the way you start verging on panic. Even when Commander Sirius let's go of you and backs off, you still feel constricted, you still feel like you're about to be crushed by a gigantic snake. It's not as if you actually have PTSD or anything from that near death and probably traumatizing experience, you're sure this panic you're feeling is because you haven't really been sleeping much these past few days.
Sirius: My Prince? Is all well? Sirius: Orion? Orion, what's wrong?
You don't respond, you can barely hear him over the sound of your own heart beating loudly within your own chest. It's hard to breathe, your lungs are getting crushed, you--
>Fayre: Attempt to calm Orion down.
Perhaps it's a cultural thing, but it seems that Fayre's idea of calming someone down is to just distract them with physical pain. You don't even know what to think when she slaps you across the face, only that it at least pulled you out of your Not-PTSD panic. But you find yourself stunned for a good minute or two, brain trying to catch up to what just happened.Fayre: You okay, Orion? Orion: I'm... Orion: I'm okay, sorry. Orion: Well, I'm probably not completely okay Orion: After all, I think I might have a loose tooth or two now. Maybe next time use the fleshy hand to slap me. You don't actually have any loose teeth, but you gotta make a jab at her somehow.Fayre: I'm not sorry for that. Sirius: Well, you two are quite close. Your attention is brought back to the commander as you hear the telltale sound of clips coming undone, of his voice no longer being muffled by the helmet but rather sounding much clearer as the Commander pulled his helmet off.Sirius: She's such a fiesty one, too.Sirius: My prince, you really must introduce me to your young friend here.Orion ==> Introduce Fayre. I'm sure that Sirius would love to meet you're new friend
And like that, the burning pain in your cheek is forgotten as you grab Fayre as if to show her off to the commander, excited to introduce your friend, your first friend whose not obligated to hang out with you. Orion: This is Fayre! She's an orcalun- well, obviously you can tell that just by looking at her Orion: We met on one of Alula's colonies, the details of which aren't that important. Orion: She's really cool, and I promise she wont be in the way of anything during our mission. Orion: Fayre, this is Commander Sirius, I already told you a lot about him, but he's one of our most successful commanders from Mothers fleet.Fayre: No one has the right to be that pretty. Orion: Fayre? Fayre: Oh! Right, me- Fayre: It's nice to meet you, Commander
Sirius: The pleasure is all mine, Fayre. Sirius: I look forward to working with you.
