A young Gecko stands in his room. Well, young relative to the other reptilians, at least. Many years ago, you finally dethroned the previous magnate and, as is customary for your race, begun your conquest of this puny little planet. Being the smart and calculated being that you are, you decided to do this by starting a company. Of course, your egoism still shined through, as you couldn't help but make yourself the mascot. They still don't suspect a thing. However, today is not the time for exposition. Today is the time for conquest. You had just received a message from another one of the reptilians, a feisty newcomer, sent to this planet as an agent. It appears that he wishes to challenge you. 82 years you stood as one of the ten magnates, and today your position is being challenged. What will you do?

It would appear that you currently have somewhere around... uh... a fuck ton of money. You're not even sure that amount can even fit on the screen. Suffice to say, it's a lot. Let's just say money isn't currently your biggest issue.

An "edge", you say? Well, it doesn't get edgier than a gun-sword, does it? Or is it a sword-gun... Ah, who cares. You can just call it the Edge. Now this is what you call a weapon. None of that pussy-ass unambiguous "gun-or-sword" weaponry, you only do "gun-AND-sword". Double or nothing, all in, and any other gambling jargon you can name off the top of your head. This thing is made only for men. Or, in your case, reptilians.

You raise the stacks of cash in the air with relative ease. Of course, you don't want to waste too much energy on them, and they are quite heavy. They are made of special reptilian star-metal, after all. A magnate should always show off his riches, even if they serve no practical purpose.

You do a fair bit of research, attempting to find as much information on this mysterious figure as possible. You manage to conclude a few key details about them.
- Their "gimmick", so to speak, is related to outer space and high-power rocketry. Apparently, it's got something to do with attempting to start their own series of colonies without the supervision of any of the other magnates or the Grand Proprietor. Yeah, good luck with that. There have obviously bene off-shoots before, but the Proprietor always weeds out the competition. Always. You've pretty much accepted that the only way to get filthy rich and filthy powerful is to side with him, even if it means that most of your impactful actions will be supervised by him.
- They are very ambitious, to an extent where it may even cause harm to them. You note this for your actual duel - you'll need all the help you can get.
- They are pretty charismatic. Charismatic enough to scale the ranks in a few decades, actually. This would scare you a lot more if you weren't interested in the battle at this point. A formidable opponent, it seems. But still not someone you'd lose to.
Oh... Whoops. It seems that your research has just cost you one full hour. Oh well. You still have 17 more left. |
