Updop in progress... please wait.
>PAST ZANE: Glare at SBURB cursor
You glare at the SBURB cursor as it zooms around. It then appears to disappear through the floor rather fast, and you hear some crashing from downstairs.
OA: Erin! OA: What are you doing? TC: oh sorry, I'm deploying the gizmos. OA: Gizmos? TC: yes, the Cruxtruder, Totem Lathe and Alchemiter. OA: What.
>PAST ERIN: Deploy.
You are looking around the house... and this place is actually pretty cluttered. There's space in Zane's bedroom for the totem lathe... but nowhere else in this mess of an abode is there room for one of the gizmos that make up the base items for SBURB... Hm, if you move this over to the side a bit there's a nice groove right here for the TOTEM LATHE...
OA: Erin. OA: What was that crashing? TC: i just deployed the cruxtruder. OA: The what? TC: the Cruxtruder. You'll need it to enter. OA: ENTER WHERE
>PAST ZANE: wonder what ERIN is deploying in your house
Seriously? What is she doing? First she throws around your writing desk, and now there's that huge thump from downstairs. Your dad sounds a bit alarmed... As he likely should be.
TC: yes, because we're on a timer... speaking of which, you should probably go pop the top off of the thing down there to tell us how much time we have before the meteors hit. OA: Meteors? TC: yes, meteors. OA: Did you know this was going to happen beforehand? TC: no, but I suspected. OA: Why didn't you say anything? TC: because you already think I'm kinda crazy and wouldn't have believed me. OA: Oh. OA: I mean... fair enough I guess.
>PAST ZANE: Head downstairs.
You run down the hall and get ready to go downstairs, taking your laptop with you. It's a good thing you don't have one of those desktop computers, otherwise you might have started having some communication problems.
OA: Okay, so this is sort of sudden. TC: yes, it is. i'm sorry about that, but I kinda wanted to get everyone out alive, and needed to make sure things didn't get in the way of our plans to play it. OA: Why would you want to play a game that drops meteors on us? TC: because it was going to either way, and this is the only way out. OA: Jeez. OA: This is kinda he
Wait... hold on... why is your dad standing in front of the door like that? What's he looking at?
TC: what is it Zane? OA: Why. TC: ? OA: Why is there this big tubey thing in front of the door? TC: ... TC: of course that was a door... OA: What? OA: Why is it there? TC: because I made an amateur mistake.
>PAST ERIN: Redecorate House
Alright, let's see... now that Zane's out of the way, you can see about moving his papers to put down the Totem Lathe in his room...
OA: Oh for the love of... OA: Did you just put another large gizmo in my room? TC: yes. because there is no room anywhere else. OA: Ugh... you said you've got one more, right? TC: yes, and it's the biggest. OA: Okay, just... move the car out into the driveway please? OA: The garage should be mostly empty. TC: okay.
Okay, car... yup, there's the car. You'll just put it out on the driveway nice and gently.
>PAST ERIN: Deploy Alchemiter
Uh oh. Still not enough space. You'll need to move more stuff.
TC: okay, Zane, there's not enough space... TC: zane? TC: i'm just gonna move more stuff outside, okay? OA: Yeah, fine. OA: Try not to break anything though. OA: My dad still uses some of that stuff. TC: right.
>PAST ZANE: wonder where DAD is
You know EXACTLY where your dad is. Currently he is arguing with you over the nature of what is going on. He seems rather alarmed at the fact that your friend is currently deploying giant gizmos in your house and rearranging the interior to do so, which, in all honesty, is probably fair.
OA: Also, the meteors are heading for MY HOUSE, right? TC: yeah, why else would I have mentioned them? OA: Oh jeez, no my dad's trying to get us to leave. OA: Please hold.
Your dad is trying to climb over the Cruxtruder to exit through the FRONT DOOR. You keep pulling back on him telling him you can get out just fine. You trust Erin. He isn't completely cert-
>METEOR: Make point.
As he attempts to go outside a smaller meteorite suddenly smashed into your car! Pieces of flaming metal scatter everywhere and your father falls over in shock, just barely avoiding being seriously injured by a piece of tire that whips in through the open door and lands on the carpet inside your room. Your dad is shaken, but suddenly a lot more amenable to trying to leave via SBURB instead of via CAR.

End of Act 1.
>FUTURE ZANE: Got anything to do with that coincidental meteor strike on the car?
Future Zane looks up from the game he is playing with Erin. What? That thing? He'd almost forgotten about it. Anyways, no, he didn't have anything to do with it. And there's no way a future version of himself could be responsible for it either. The Reckoning hasn't happened yet, and nobody knows when it'll be, thanks to all the reckoning timers being... broken, in one way or another. Besides, even once the Reckoning starts, your home planet isn't set to Earth anymore anyways. Anyone trying to launch meteors at you can't target past you via defense portals, they'd have to target your house here. Which, to be honest, would be a sorta elaborate and dumb way to try and kill you.
First they'd have to find a large enough meteor to actually smash through the kinetic shields most Lands have after a certain Incident, THEN they'd have to keep people from noticing a meteor storm that large. And that's not even taking into account that you're a Godtier and would thusly just revive.
>PAST ZANE: Pop the Top on Cruxtruder
You attempt to pry the top off of the Cruxtruder. It does not appear to be working.
>PAST ERIN: Educate Zane on Cruxtruder opening protocols
TC: zane. TC: zane. TC: fine, Zane's dad, since you're the one looking at the computer. OA: Wait, you can see me? TC: yup, how do you think I know where to drop things? TC: got a bird-brain's eye view of the entire house. TC: sorry about the doorway by the way. OA: I suppose it's fine. What do we need to do to get out, exactly? TC: go grab something heavy and smash something heavy on top of the Cruxtruder. TC: i need to make space for one last gizmo... TC: oh wait, you're gone already.
Zane is still trying to pry the top off of the cruxtruder. You need to hurry and get things done though. No telling how long it'll be until something else goes horribly, horribly wrong.
>PAST ZANE: Comfort Dad
You don't think he needs comforting just now. He's still freaking out a little bit. But he's a bit more focused on not getting obliterated by meteors than anything else.
>PAST ZANE: Open the Cruxtruder
You can't get this stupid thing open! Perhaps if you twisted the wheel hard enough?
>FUTURE ZANE: Hear Noise
You suddenly realize that there's something going on outside. Loud noises and flashes off light. Jeez, did something explode again? Your land doesn't usually have lightning storms...
>PAST ERIN : tell ZANE what to do
As you finally clear away the last of the debris in the garage, you hear the first crashing. A quick look outside Zane's house is all it takes to verify what you were worried about. The first meteors are falling. You can see the fire rising in the distance from your own window even. You should probably tell Zane what needs doing...
TC: okay, Zane. I'm not gonna leave any time for dicking around. TC: you already know how serious this is. TC: first thing you need to do, take one of the colored tubes out of the Cruxtruder. TC: those are cruxite dowels. TC: you'll want to take that and the pre-punched captcha card I'm about to drop, and insert them into their respective places in the Totem Lathe. TC: that'll carve the cruxite dowel. TC: take that to the alchemiter, which I've placed in the garage, and place it on the pedestal thing. TC: it'll make an object that you'll need to use to enter The Medium. TC: we'll pick up our plans from there.
>PAST ERIN: Do not forget the PRE-PUNCHED CARD!
Of course not! You don't want Zane to die are meteor-inspired fiery death! The entire point of what you're doing here is keeping him from dying. Forgetting the pre-punched card would be a stupid way to-
A massive explosion is heard from just down the street from you. You stare in shock at your computer screen as the power blinks out once more.
You just dropped the pre-punched card on Zane's roof.
You're willing to bet a lot of money that a meteor just hit the electric transformer for your neighborhood, leaving you without power for the time being, fuses or no, Zane and his dad are gonna have to retrieve that sucker by themselves.
>PAST ERIN: Inform Zane of this new predicament.
You quickly whip out your phone. Good, your data's still up. Your wifi being down won't be a problem until for the moment.
TC: zane. zane, hurry. my power went out again, i just dropped the pre-punched card on your roof. TC: you're gonna have to retrieve that on your own. TC: i'm sorry Zane.
>{S} Meteors: Fall
A wide-screen view of the sky. Meteors are beginning to fall, falling faster and faster. On a direct collision course with the city below... Zoom in, Zane can be seen tugging and tugging on the wheel of the cruxtruder, his father charges down in from the hall, brandishing the dining table. Zane backs out of the way as his father brings the table crashing down on the top of the Cruxtruder's lid. The table shatters, the lid pops off. The father turns to look at his son, who is looking at his computer. Zane looks back, and points towards the roof, the two look up. A quick zoom on the Cruxtruder... 2:27 Zoom out to the roof, the pre-punched card sits daintily on the otherwise ordinary roof of this otherwise ordinary house, Zane's father runs out the front door, looking about for a particular piece of hardware... Zoom back in through the house's roof... IN THE FUTURE: Future Zane and Erin exit the main halls of the house, standing on a balcony, looking upwards a shower of meteors rains down in the sky above, lighting up the sky with the light of both the kinetic shield vaporizing the projectiles and the fire which the meteors bring with them. BACK TO THE PAST: Zane runs up to the cruxtruder and quickly turns the wheel as fast as he can. He spins it too fast, and quickly scrambles backwards, tripping over his computer and the assorted pieces of the table as the Cruxtruder sprays cruxite dowels all over the place. The hitherto unnoticed kernalsprite darts about trying to avoid the cruxite dowels but is unfortunately unable to avoid a piece of table leg that is flipped into the air and lands right in the middle of it. Taking no notice of this, Zane scrambles towards the stairs, and then up them, clutching the precious cruxite dowel in his hands. Zoom out and back into the future: Zane and Erin link hands and begin glowing with power, Zane pulls out a pair of glowing rifles and fires upwards, beginning to strengthen the kinetic barrier far over head, camera pans about, showing an absolutely enormous meteor coming from the exact opposite side of the house. Not from the direction the house spire points, but at a 90 degree angle from it. The camera pans past this meteor, switching to a view of a more standard-sized one heading for Zane's house. Zane's father can be seen climbing up a ladder to the roof. He runs across as the beginning of the meteor shower starts to fall. Raining down fire across a decent area out. Zoom in as Zane's father hurries across the roof, and picks up the pre-punched card and turns around as the house next door suddenly explodes in a fiery red sending out a blast of force that knocks him over the edge. Zoom down to Zane's room. Zane stands next to the Totem Lathe, wondering what to do after having put the totem in its slot... Then he turns and watches as his father falls past... Zane's father winds up and throws the card, which whizzes past Zane's face and clicks right into the slot in the Totem Lathe. The Totem Lathe whirs to life, quickly carving the totem. Zane obtains it, and immediately dashes for the door... Zoom out, the neighborhood is on fire. Fire consumes the area. It. Is. Fire. Zoom out and out and out and as it passes through the clouds that get darker and darker, show the outer view of Future Zane's planet. A storm of meteors rain down upon it from one side... And another, massive meteor dwarfing the rest comes into contact with the shield. Zoom in, white and red suddenly rips up the kinetic shield up above, shattering everything, sending the energy coursing back down the beam which Zane and Erin hold up. The energy flows down into Zane and the two guns explode, knocking Erin and Zane back into the house... Zoom through the walls... the massive meteor makes its approach in a blaze of white hot death through the sky of the Land... Back to the Past, Zane charges down the steps with the carved dowel... only to slip on one of the uncarved ones from before. he slips and slides all the way down the stairs, crashing over the edge at the bottom. Zane quickly picks his way across the field of obstructive cylinders, picks up the one he requires and scrambles back over to the garage door, barging through and slamming the carved totem onto the totem pedestal on the Alchemiter. The Alchemiter proceeds to make a large knot of cruxite. Zane looks at it quizzically. Zane moves forwards and begins to try and untie it, getting frustrated and pulling out his fantasy novel from his strife specibus and begins to swing it downwards towards the cruxite knot... Future Zane looks up at Erin's unconscious form, realizes what's about to happen and dashes forwards grabbing hold of her in an attempt to shield her from the impending doom... Zoom out, two halves of the screen, two meteors. One heading for Zane's house, one plowing it's way through the top layer of Future Zane's Land. They connect. A pair of mushroom clouds, set against the backdrop of the planets' respective skies...
End of Act 1
Well everyone. EoA1 is upon us, and while I work on this update, I would just like to say, I'm gonna take a short break from updating after this, then there's gonna be a short period of one or two updates that are just sorta talking without taking any commands. Feel free to use this time to ask me stuff OOC or just sorta make speculations on what's gonna happen or whatever. I do not mind people using this thread for OOC conversation by the way.

Also... HI QT, I think it was because someone entered too many commands

Okay, the boring answer to the glitchy mess is Draco inputting too many commands. The FUN answer is [SPOILERS] and therefore will not be revealed until later. Literally, I did not have any plans for that to be a thing until QT asked, so if it completely ruins the story, blame him. So wait is it possible to have 2 people with same classes but different aspects or vice versa? Like a knight of space and a knight of time? But not 2 of the exact same for sure No, it is not. Admittedly, it would make more sense for that to be the case, but it's more fun to have Skaia go crazy about having no duplicate classes OR aspects. That way I'm justified in having absurd classes like "God-king" of "Everything". Any classes or aspects that work basically exactly the same as a previously established one will be officially in another language, and such will be denoted with quotation marks around the class or aspect in question. Like Zane's title. Neither his class nor his aspect are in English, so the closest English translation is given. Also. End of Act 1 It is done.

Alright, I've done a bit of work on the two narrative bits before Act 2. I'm about halfway done. with two parts out of 4 completed.
Here's some teasers for you guys. "Fire flickers, smoke rises, houses burn..." "Meteors descend, consorts scatter, lightning flashes..." "Ashes fall, clouds drift, carapacians cower..." "Tragedy strikes, panic spreads, something bad is beginning..."
I had a little bit more here but I dun goofed the post and had to type it out and forgot the mysterious ramblings I put here the first time. Sorry.

Having the force from the shield impact travel down into the projector is real science. Good job. The Red doodad on mailboxes goes up when you have mail to _send_ dumkopf! Uh... thanks? I mean, it's magic, so I'm not certain how much "real science" applies. I just realized I needed some way to have Future Zane and Erin not just teleport/fly away unless I wanted to rewrite a fair chunk of my planned plot from scratch, and that seemed the most plausible thing. As for the red maily flappy deely-bobber; oops. And now... back to our regularly scheduled program... Feel free to continue asking questions though. Fire flickers, smoke rises, houses burn. This once pristine picture of Suburbia has been destroyed by the onset of a cataclysm almost unforeseeable and entirely inescapable. The neighborhood, once a lively place home to many people, both good and bad, is now home to nothing but fire and the ruins of those who did not escape, and therefore by virtue of the roundabout inevitability of Paradox Space, could not. This is not the way things should be, but it is the way things are. And as much as the inherent unfairness and brutality of the system may be seen as a flaw, it is one that those who live by its rules must adhere to. There is no way to change the laws of reality. A pale figure in a black suit watches the fire, although he has no eyes. He hears the unheard cries of those condemned to fiery death. He is the guardian of this planet, but ultimately he can protect it and the precious race it has served as a home to no more than they themselves can. Ironic indeed that a creature touted to possess omnipotence is completely unable to accomplish such a simple, straightforward task. Alas, his domain is that of space. Not the curling, twisting causalities that make up the fabric of existence. He teleports away, leaving the houses to the ends prescribed to them.

Meteors descend, lightning flashes, consorts scatter. The great towering living spire that once held the great God-king, the god among gods among men, crumbles. Its great fall lasting hours and hours as the enormous structure curls around the surface of the planet from its great height, the base utterly obliterated by the massive meteor that crashed into the Land of Secrets and Progression oh so recently, the collision itself sending resounding earthquakes across the entirety of the Land, only adding to the destruction rained down by the meteor storm that still hasn't quite abated. A great Consort King watches from his mighty castle. The hero of the land has fallen into darkness, from which there is no return without help. Unless something is done, the Land, and those that inhabit it, shall fall into an even deeper shadow. The King turns around and descends down into the foyer. A number of armed Bats stand at attention. The Consorts turning and saluting their King who waves them aside… He has a kingdom, and along with it, a world, maybe even a full session, to save… He walks down the hall, contemplating his first move.

Oooh. Interesting! 0u0 A Consort King, huh? Indeed, expect this guy to be more relevant later on that consorts usually have any right being. King: Send Bat Knight to F3. Knight: Be Vengeance. Be Dark. Knight: Battle Clown-themed Underling. Hah. Batman references aside, this guy won't be commandable until after the Intermission, and I might decide to make him not commandable until a few events have happened. Thank you! Also, I was looking back through the thread and realized... There's a BUNCH of formatting errors and typos hidden about the thread. So, I'm gonna go fix those things. This is why most forms of media have editors. Ashes fall, clouds drift, carapacians cower. A dreamer sadly scans the golden city that has been the home of her dreams for many, many years. As she carries the body of the lone prince of the golden city, maybe dead, maybe unconscious, back to the castle to be deposited. Victim of both the eclipse and an assassination attempt, she can only hope that he will be okay. As the dreamer moves to the doorway, and hands over the body to the waiting Royal Entourage, she turns and looks up into the depths of Skaia, questioning how everything could have gone so wrong so quickly. As she looks around, everywhere she looks are the signs of devastation wrought upon the golden kingdom. Her friends, both dreaming and waking, are imperiled by the events that have begun to unfold here, and it seems that it may be up to her to keep people alive. She has no time for cloud gazing. She flies away into the cloudy mess obscuring the streets, preparing to change the game.

Tragedy strikes, panic spreads, trouble is brewing. A player looks out over the patches of land spread out below her. It is amazing how little such a great game can fail to broaden one’s perspective on events. Losing people close to you is easy, and SBURB makes no endeavours to make it any easier. Losing them to malicious acts as opposed to the ever-turning clockworks of life only worsens the darkness that clamps onto the soul and refuses to let go. Something bad is coming. Everyone knows it. Everyone feels it. And if this is only setting the stage for it, she can hardly imagine how terrifyingly awful the events contained to come will be not just for her but for everyone. For those she cares about, the people who took it upon themselves to save everyone from the doom that encroaches ever closer. But there is nothing she can do. It is not her place to change the future, that privilege belongs to others. She looks up into the sky of her Land, hoping that everything will be alright.
End of Intermission 1.
Well, this has been fun. No update tomorrow, as is usual for Sundays, and I might take another really short break while I figure out where I want the numerous plotlines that will soon be available to you guys to start out.
