I didn't have contact with the updates, so I was using a version that was left behind. Eventually I stopped using it because to me, no one came online. I'm just someone who didn't really keep up when I should have. I'm not even certain if the one I've updated to is up to speed with everyone else. Don't worry too much about me. I always find a new way to mess things up for myself, and then feel stupid when I finally get things right. If it is the version from the start of this thread, it is the current version. I doubt there will ever be any more after that. Unrelated: I just made a thread for my role play memo, #Roleplay_AwTT, as a sort of backup, in case anyone would like to know that. It is here. |

And so on in similar fashion until the end of the pesterlog.unfortunately, the only information a quirk can access is the message you typed in, so it has no way of knowing what line number it is. |

hi! i hope this is alright for me to post here? apologies if not, but i wasnt sure where else to go ;v;
so ive been having an issue with pesterchum for a lil while now
at first, it was refusing to let me switch users [when i clicked "switch" or whatever that tabs called, the box which allows you to change your profile wouldnt appear]. i think this happened after pesterchum... glitched out a bit? i cant remember, it was a couple of months ago haha
so after a while i decided to uninstall pesterchum and later reinstall it
but then it wouldnt open. at all. no error message appeared it just... wouldn't open
i assumed pesterchum itself just wasn't working, but after looking at this thread i doubt that
so i uninstalled it [again], reinstalled it, and restarted my computer and it still isnt opening whatsoever? i dunno, im confused
my laptop still has windows 8 and is a netbook [so... basically a small laptop]. idk if that has anything to do with it, since it was working perfectly fine until it... glitched? man i dont even remember what even happened then. i mightve tried to open too many accounts at once? [then again, its not like i havent had like 9 open at once pff]
if anyone could suggest anything, i'd love to hear it! i miss making oc conversations on there haha

Stop freaking out it's alright you posted in the right place. Pesterchum doesn't open when I double click it either, right click it and then open it that way maybe?

ah sorry yea i tend to freak out over everything haha. right-clicking & then clicking open didn't work either. its pretty weird considering its worked properly on my computer before? im pretty clueless about the whole issue, honestly

I've had that problem before. In essence, I had to revert pesterchum to its original state. If I tried to hardcode in quirk functions, it wouldn't open until I fixed it to normal.

It honestly shouldn't be a problem unless you've edited files inside, but I'd check in the pesterchum data if I were you.

Check your system tray, the thing with all the tiny icons. You may find pesterchum is running there, and so the reason it's not starting is because it's technically already running, it just doesn't have a window assigned to it. You should be able to start it from there, or you can close it. You won't be able to be pestered until next time you open it though. If you want to avoid repeating this, get the program running and go into your options, go to "Interface" and set it to quit when you press close. This will, again, leave you unable to be pestered unless the program is open. But that suits my needs, because I run it portably! (used to be from a USB but now I run from a portable hard drive) If that doesn't work, just say so. I'll try working out something else. I hope this was helpful! Also if anyone ever wants to know the details on how to run it portably, feel free to ask either in this board or by pestering me when I'm online. Should anyone want to pester me, I'm unobservedArtistry. I do roleplay or ooc, though due to my running it portably, there's a good chance it'll say I'm offline. Does anyone, like, actually use Pesterchum anymore? I know I've seen a few of you on there in the past few days when I've been on the #Anyone_Want_To_Talk memo, but it's a significant decrease from when I first started using it...
I've kind of just spontaneously started using it again, because, y'know what? It's pretty cool, and deserves some love. I don't know if any of you are inclined to join me, but, here are my Chumhandles, if anyone is interested...
Mostly, I use scintillatingVigilante, though I've also used my older caliginousSerenity a bit. I'm kind of in the market for a new handle, though, so I'll let y'all know if there's an update to that situation.

personally I've stopped using it actively but more importantly the total numbers have been dropping steadily over the last 2 years or so. now that homestuck's and the mspaforums are gone there's not really any strong flow of new users, and as veteran members start to fall off the bandwagon both the overall quality and size of the userbase are going down. unfortunately there's no real way I see of fixing that besides, like, advertising the client or something, which might not have an ideal effect anyway.

My friends and I actually often have it running in the background so we can ping at eachother whenever. It eats less ram than other chat clients and it's got the bonus of fandom and customization (I like to fiddle around with skins)

psa: dunk updated anope (the thing that manages chanserv and nickserv among others) and a few changes have been made to those services. probably of most importance is that chanserv no longer uses passwords for channels, and instead associates the registration only with your nick. in most cases this won't make a real impact but it does mean that you can no longer get founder access (keyholder) to a channel by identifying with its password; only the actual founder can. make sure you use 'help' with both services before using them for the first time after this so you can see the changes to the commands.

I personally enjoy using PC to talk to certain friends(for both nostalgia and because I weirdly like the look and feel of a just text based chat service) But and idk if any of you have been using PC long enough to have known Midna, but do any of yall have their version of PC? I heard there was one but have no idea where it is now. I might have had at one point but its been a couple years since I actually used it.
