Update on my last post: I played it, it's good. I guess I forgot to say anything about that. But actually, there has been some new, super-duper-secret leak information! Will put under spoilers for anyone who would like to maintain the surprise. EDIT: Well, there was an announcement of sorts... store.steampowered.com/app/859130/Hiveswap_Friendsim__Volume_Three/

I wasn't planning on mentioning this, since the update's gonna hit tomorrow, but there was a sneaky little hidden thing. I didn't catch it, but some other people did, so I'll go ahead and share it here. Spoiler warning, though...

Yesterday for Hiveswap Act 1's one year anniversary (btw probably should've said something about that......) James posted a video (with permission from Andrew apparently, according to his twitter) about music he worked on for Act 2. Who knows if it's still going to be in the game, but it's pretty interesting nonetheless. Anyway, here's the link.

-an ancient dusty coffin begins to creak and tremble. the lid is lifted loose with a thud, and grinds against the stone as it is slid off, before finally slamming into the floor. the noise echoes about the room several times. a form unnaturally rises from the crypt, limbs stiff. it eventually stands fully upright. its jaw cracks loose and lowers gradually, and dust escapes its throat as its voice awakens-"kickstarter news update"This one is backer's only, but I'll give you the gist of it. It sounds like they are once again prepared (at least to attempt) to be a little more communicative with development progress going forward, and giving backers the advantage in this regard. It's ultimately fairly brief, and there's not a lot to show beyond some throwaway teaser assets. They talk a little about the pipeline they're using; first the writing and design process, then making the art assets, then programming, then testing. It sounds like once the earlier steps are done or nearly done, they move on to work on Act 3 while the next steps for Act 2 are being worked on. Oh, which reminds me: And that's just about that. They also talk about them exhibiting Hiveswap at Ludonarracon this weekend, which I knew about but I guess I neglected to make any mention of here. I suppose that wouldn't really be a lot of news to bump a neglected thread with anyway. Not sure when the next update will be, but it sounds like they want it to be fairly soon. They're doing a survey to get input from the fans and backers what kind of questions we want answered. I haven't gotten to that yet, but I'm about to. If there's anything I feel worth sharing from there, I'll edit this post. Exciting stuff! I'm looking forward to getting to talk about this stuff again XB

Significant News! What Pumpkin is partnering with indie game publisher Fellow Traveller! I don't know much about them but they were the ones who organized LudoNaraCon, which featured Hiveswap a little while back and sported some streams with James and Aysha commentary (I never did find that other one too, dangit...) According to the news posts, the What Pumpkin team is still the one doing all the development work, and Fellow Traveller is basically handling the business end of things, which I think would include future trailers, teaser materials, public relations, and stuff like that. Speaking of public relations and stuff like that, the more interesting news here is that Hiveswap and Homestuck have an official Discord channel now! Sort of. It's actually three sub pages (Hiveswap, Friendsim, Homestuck) under the greater Fellow Traveller channel. I won't be linking to it here because it's already kind of chaotic and the Invites are in those links anyway (at time of writing anyway...)

Guess I never dug into that, whoops. No, no announcements. My guess is we shouldn't expect to see anything until Pesterquest wraps up, which I imagine will be sometime in April. We might get a release date, or if we're lucky it'll just drop, which would be pretty sweet. If we do get something like that, I'll be sure to mention it here.
