September 4th, 2017Five years ago today, Andrew launched his ambitious project on Kickstarter. Many often wondered what could possibly follow up on Homestuck, and now we knew the answer. Though there wasn't much to the stated plan beyond the words "Homestuck," "Adventure" and "Game," the passionate fans fulfilled the donation goal in a mere 48 hours, double that in about two weeks, and throw another million on top of that for good measure by funding period's end, one month later. Things have been slow going since then. The expected delivery date (~June 2014) came and went with little to show for it, though much design work had been accomplished behind the scenes. There have been numerous delays, changes of plan, and rumors buzzing about the troubles besetting production behind the curtain. For those of us following and waiting patiently these five years, it's been a long, rocky climb. But the wait is over. The door is opening. 10 Days To Go.

Holy shit, that's actually pretty cool that it's releasing so close to the Kickstarter anniversary.
Man, I can hardly believe it's already been 5 years. I mean, the wait's been long but it still felt a lot shorter than that, haha.
In any case, I'm really pumped that it's finally happening!

So it looks like Hiveswap's steam page is up now. It appears it will have achievements and trading cards, but at present I'm not sure whether there's a way to see what they are just yet. It's worth noting that I'm writing this from my mobile phone while away on vacation. I'm much more used to my PC at home so my resources, and my free time, are limited. The soundtrack for Act 1 is also up as dlc for the game, with what appears to be the entire (  ?) discography listed. The contents therein should be discussed more thoroughly in the spoilers channel. Taking a look around, I don't see it at the humble store yet, and I don't appear to have recieved a steam key via email or Kickstarter or however it's going to work. If anything else is going on, I am not yet aware of it. Prerty exciting stuff. The door is opening. Approximately (according to Steam) 7 Days To Go. |

Yesterday I got an email from Kickstarter with a link to the grubbels album. I haven't gotten the chance to check it out yet since I still want to wait until I get home, but other backers will get to enjoy this special preview of Xefros' and Dammek's sound, fulfilling the promise made back around when they announced the greenlight page.

To add to thst, the coming is coming out 2 PM EDT, so that's in the eastern U.S. timezone. Two hours nefore that, backers will start receiving emails for their game keys. We will he able to choose either the steam version or the DRM-free version available through the Humble store.
So, as of now that's about 43 hours and 40 minutes to go!
I'm going to be getting something close to a 12 hour late start personally as that's when I get back home, but still I will be here. Watching over all.

I think after 5 years people have probably said basically all they have to say in anticipation of the game and right now everyone doesn't really have anything new to say other than it will be great to finally have it here! I mean, that's at least how I'm looking at it.  In any case, 12 PM EDT has passed, so far no mail in my inbox yet. But I guess that's not very surprising, seeing as they said Humble Bundle will be processing everyone manually, which means it's probably pretty likely that it'll be a while before they've gone through everyone. In any case, unless I miscalculated, only 1 hour and 14 minutes left until the official launch!! EDIT: In any case, my gameplan right now is to probably download the game this evening and take a good look at the start screen and the different options and all that, and to slowly progress through the game in the next few days/weeks, taking my time to explore all there is to explore, progressing bit by bit and documenting my live reactions. Knowing me, it will probably take a while before I'm finished playing. |

I was catching up on my tumblr and noticed something I haven't seen much talk about. It would be a shame I think if it were lost in the tide of Hiveswap, so I'll post it here. An interview with Cohen Edenfield! This came out about a day before Hiveswap launched, apparently. Pretty interesting, I think. Good luck to those dodging spoilers! Oh crap, I only just noticed Andrew's new news post on MSPA!
About announcement one, it warms my heart to see how proud he is of the final result of Hiveswap Act 1. I couldn't agree more, it's absolutely AMAZING and I've really only progressed a little bit in it so far.
I also really like that he's acknowledging the long wait and that he's thankful that we've been waiting all this time. It's been a long wait indeed, but dang the end result is more than worth it!

I'm pretty sure all four acts of Hiveswap will come out first, then Hauntswitch will start coming out after Hiveswap is complete. But I guess I don't know that for certain, actually.

I got the game through Steam, which i dont use a lot, and i cant figure out where to access the soudtrack? the soundtrack is in my library but...i cant find it on my computer?

If you go to Library, then Music, then select the Hiveswap OST, you should see the option "Show in System" under where the cover art is. That will open the folder on your computer where all the music files are saved. I had this same problem too, so hope that helps!

I remember a little while back What Pumpkin put up a post on their tumblr offering commentary on the Act 1 soundtrack. Before I could read it, though, it had been taken down. Looks like it's back up, and I've been told the change is that there is now some commentary from Cohen Edenfield and Toby Fox, in addition to James Roach as in the original. I'm still reading it, but it's a neat thing to dig into so far. Obviously this is spoiler-risk territory as it proceeds into the latter half of the game and presumably talks about the goings on therein. Though this is only part 1 of a 2-part series of posts, so maybe it won't get that far? Still, proceed with caution. Oh, before I forget here's the link. |

I'd seen part one but not part two. The redacted segments intrigue me, especially since I really liked Old Secrets and I was dismayed it wasn't on the OST and was barely in the game.

When these come to an end in Spring 2018, Act 2 will come out! Discussion of the trolls themselves should proooooobably go in the spoiler channel? Uhh, apologies to Blap and PW. At this point, the next Act is going to come out before they even have time to finish this one. @.@ Really we could probably keep it in here too, as long as we use spoiler tags just in case anyone wants to keep the surprises intact. |

So that's 36 trolls total that are going to be introduced in Act 2.
34 of them are yet to be revealed, which means a minimum of 17 weeks before Act 2 comes out, which is a perfectly reasonable time frame.
With this many characters I get the feeling that Hiveswap is going to be a bit of a bloodbath. |
