>Elliot: You dont get it. Ultimately, unable to really make out any words, you flail around with both your full and stub style arms. The questions to ask aren't even apparent to you.
Hugo: I can make anything I understand. Hugo: But I can only make things that are necessary for my survival. Hugo: We need to get to Sarah, but its not necessary, and we need some movement ability to get there. Hugo: If that Kaira girl was still here, we could make some clever use of her ability... Hugo: But here we are...
Hugo: I could make this flying sheet because I needed to... Hugo: Physics is a little strange here... but there wasn't much else to experiment with while I was waiting...
Hugo: So... come one... lets get this over with...

We've left the confines of the story Sarah made for us, and we reach the greater heights that weren't pre-established in the beginning of the narrative. Its like the greatest stories. Like all the greatest stories, a friend betrays you, and they become the true villain. Like all the greatest stories, a group of heroes achieves a symbolic victory by way of flight, and thus freedom. Like all the greatest stories, now, at this turning point, this end of Act 3, things will start to go our way.
>Hugo: You still have 0% chance of surviving this though. Ive long since accepted death. My due date was 2 years ago. I've had a pretty good run. At least this way I can go out while helping someone else. Sarah: Its you...

Also, what is the average lifespan of somebody in this world? How common are teenage life expectancies? I haven't been able to get to the update yet, but I guess to answer the question, about 70 years, same as now. The items dont effect your lifespan, they just become more powerful depending on the persons potential lifespans. Items would have been on average more powerful in deadlier times, this is in part how these people grew prosperous, although the freedom of complete agency does cause some chaos. Kaira is an example of an average item. OK ability, not to many actual uses, can sometimes be annoying. Sarah, Hugo and Grace are examples of short lived items. Very powerful, versatile, and high potential, even if they don't really use it like Grace. Eliot is an example of a very long living item. Its weak, and often actively painful. He's likely to live a long time though, despite how he kind of wants to die a little. Aleta and Destiny are a strange case of course. They share a body, and a mind, but the soul is whats important for Items. It was Destiny's item that was the powerful one, the one that can change probability. But if it was simply that destiny would die soon, then why is Aletas item ultimately so "soso"? Is it possible that only Destiny will die somehow? or maybe that her not being connected to the body helps her connect to her Items Soul better? I'm not sure i'll get to explore that in this comic, but in something in the future I might. All in all Teenage Life Expectancy is probably around 1-3%. Thus around 1-3% of people have items on the level of Sarah, Hugo and Grace. Those who die younger have even stronger items.

"Grace": I'll see you again soon..."Grace": Kaira...
Its sad... you know... I get it. She's sad, she's had a bad life, all she wants is to die in a way that she can accept, that she can feel happy about. I care about her, from the moment I met her, I was made to care for her. I can feel that Grace must have loved her. But she's become to desperate. She's ignoring everyone else for her own sake. I wasn't Grace. Kaira wanted to know more. She couldn't accept change, she feared it, and that made things worse. In a different world no one would have found out, she would have gone through everything happily, and she would have gotten to be the hero she always wanted to be. To feel like she helped others as much as Grace helped her. She could forget about her past and die a happy death. I would strike her down, and she'd make her heroic sacrifice, saving someone else, killing me back. We'd die together, and the portal would open up. It'd look like me dying did it, but in truth I can never die, i'd be back, trapped here for until I get board with it, and she'd be allowed her happy death... and I think I could have accepted that. I'de let the purple boy free in secret, and make it all seem like a bad dream. "Grace": Sarah...
But... she cant deal with her own problems, and the person who could died before her. She's doomed herself now, and I couldn't save her. Now my only choice is to make sure she accepts what she's done, and lets everyone go... Even if that means her life...

OK, we are literally... at the end. Im not sure how to do it exactly though, and i'm tossing it up. Im going to present you guys with some options, and i'll see how people respond to each:
1: I create another visual novel or similar game for the ending. This could take a good long time, a couple months likely, but will feel special for the ending
2: We do updates similar to the backstory or hugo's sections, with less interaction, maybe some *weirder* things here and there due to that. but wont feel as special probably.

Hey, now that you're nearly done, you should update the mspfa mirror, if you have time. And uh, there are multiple spelling errors early on that might be off-putting to a reader.

I dont like having such long time without *anything*, so every once in a while, im going to post each of the characters Player Characters in a theoretical DnD5e game, because I think thats fun. Player: Sarah Leechman Name: Daria Barret Allignment: Chaotic Neutral Class: Wizard -Subclass: School of Illusion Background: Outlander Backstory: A child of another universe, parallel to the one the players exist in how. that world died however, and as far as the players know, Daria is the only one left from that world. It is due to her innate connection to her old dead world, and the imprints that has left on the worlds that be, that she can cast illusions, imprints from her old world manifested. The plan is that as the story progresses, and so does her magic, with certain high level spells and abilities, she will be able to eventually bring her home back. The first is that through *Animate Dead*, relored as bringing back her universes equivilant person through the corpse. Through the 14th level ability *Illusionary Reality* she can bring her world into this one physically for a time. With *Mirage Arcane* she can create 10 days of an as close to physical version of her world as you can get through spells. Through *Demiplane* she can create an actual new version of her old world. And finally, with *True Polymorph* she can simply turn people to their otherworldly selves. Playstyle: She focuses on illusions and battlefield control, with some summoning here and there as necessary. She only accepts spells that she can relore to fit her theme. This means that its basically just illusions and conjurations. That said, she plays rather effectually, with some good plans and smart use of her illusions and class abilities.

Player: Eliot Austin Name: Graven Deepseed Alignment: Neutral Good Class: Cleric -Subclass: Light Domain Background: Soldier Backstory: A very escapist character, especially for someone like Eliot. You see, Graven is brave, he cares about people, but also mostly himself, and it comes naturally to Graven. He was a soldier for the army in years past, a fair warrior, although nothing spectacular. But he ran away when things got tough. He got scared and ran away, because he cared about whether he would die. He eventually found the church of a god of light, and the acolytes of that church taught him that it was OK that he ran away, that it was OK to care about your own safety. Playstyle: Eliot created Graven as his opposite in a way, the kind of person he wishes he could be sometimes; confident, and self assured, caring about themselves. Eliot is very open when he role plays his character, and looking in, its clear that hes trying to answer some things about himself through his playing the story, to teach himself that its OK to care about yourself. Graven was originally conceived as a blasty character, shooting powerful radiant or fire spells everywhere in name of his god, but through circumstance, he ended up becoming more of a support character.

Player: Kaira Andersdatter Name: Sam Alisveil Alignment: Lawful Good Class: Ranger (UA) -Subclass: Beastmaster Background: City Watch Backstory: Kaira really wanted to try and set up some innate connections in her backstory to some of the other characters, and thus she was part of the City Watch of the city that Eliot was originally a soldier for, convinced Sarah to say that she first appeared in this town, and when others make their characters, she plans to continue this. The characters job at the City Watch is to act as a hunter and investigator, tracking down dangerous targets within the city, underground cults, or solving city disputes. Sam was originally supposed to be non-binary, but Kaira wasn't really able to act it out well, and they pretty quickly became trans-feminine. She always has her trusted companion of a Jackal by her side, witch she gave the name of one her best friends from school. No one in the group could actually draw a Jackal however, so the joke quickly became that it was actually some sought of monstrosity created by a wizard by mixing together a bunch of creatures. This joke has been worked into more then a few plot points. Is a bit of a playgirl, in that shes often the one to say "I seduce the X". Shes tasteful enough not to make it awkward at least. Playstyle: Sam is really good at perception and investigation (Sam has a level in rouge for the 2 expertise), so she often acts as the parties information gatherer; searching for information and using it to her advantage. In combat, she uses long range attacks while her Jackal (Using the Panther statistics) attacks from up close. Using the amount of magic she has, she powers up her arrows as appropriate. She plans to later take another 2 levels in Rouge for Cunning Action (letting it be easier to get away) and the Mastermind archetype (Help as a bonus action)

This is going to sound a little reminiscent of the Gigapause, but I haven't been able to get much done in the last couple weeks due to finals at school. Its the holidays now however, so things should get done soon enough! Player: Aleta Leos Name: Aleta Leos Alignment: Chaotic Good Class: Barbarian -Subclass: Path of the Ancestral Guardian Background: Haunted One Backstory: Its notable that Aleta (the player) is very bad at naming things, so Aleta (the character) was just given her real name. One of the BBEG of the campaigns lackeys has been doing some bad stuff to the people of a particular city that Aleta lives in. She was nearly put through the same thing, but people sacrificed themselves to let her live, and in doing so, created a connection between Aleta and the soul ripping event. From then on, she the souls of the people that saved her, and of the people that the BBEG's lackey tormented followed Aleta, training her, and helping her, so that they, and Aleta herself may take their revenge. She ended up living in secret in the city of Kaira's character, were Kaira's character kept her safe and in secret to train. Playstyle: Using her ancestral guardian abilities, she tries to pull all the attacks on herself, and then protect her allies with her spirits. She's taken the tough fear, and has maxed out her CON very early so that she can take as many hits as possible. She's very headstrong, and when she's a player, shes a great tool for the DM to guide the players to were they want the party to go (by way of hinting at a way to get revenge)

Player: Destiny Leos Name: Elen Leos Alignment: Lawful Evil Class: Cleric -Subclass: Death Background: Haunted One Backstory: Come into the story much later then most else, and decided to work it into the recent events of the story. The players were about to confront the person doing things to Aleta's old town, but it was revealed that this person was her sister, and that her sister was being manipulated by the BBEG. Elen was smart of course, and cought on, leading to the moment of the players confronting Elen actually being a point were Elen betrays the BBEG, leading to the discovery of the BBEGs big weakness. Aleta wanted her to be called destiny (as Aleta had written into her backstory), but she refused vehemently, and named herself Elen instead (retconning the story a bit). Additionally, it was decided that the only reason Aleta was able to escape was since Elen let her. Playstyle: Uses necromancy spells, but primarily necromancy spells that deal damage rather then raising dead spells. Using her death cleric abilities, she is able to pull out a lot of damage out of these spells and mix it up with melee when she wants to. She draws these energies from the dead and spirits around her, inflicting them on her foes. There's a reason that the BBEG chose her as a person to target, shes pretty evil, but as of right now, shes working with the party, and wants to protect Aleta more then anything else (although she can do some macabre things to do this).

Hay. Im about half way done, but that means the rest is still going to take a while, what would you guys think about me posting half of the ending now (or within the next week or so), then finishing the rest in the following months. Player: Hugo Raphael Name: Lin Derelek Alignment: Lawful Good Class: Mystic -Subclass: Order of the Wu Jen Background: Hermit Backstory: Like Elen, Lin was not part of the original party, but at around the same time, they both decided they wanted to play. The DM at the time had been foreshadowing an old hermit who could help the players to cross the planes if it even was necessary. Since the players were going to meet him at the time, Hugo jumped at the opportunity to play that character. Hugo Learnt as much as he could about the dungeons and dragons cosmology so that he could simulate the character, and it wasn't long before he was confusing the DM too. The character themselves was rather simple, having just spent their entire life in a library reading every book they could find. Playstyle: Hugo is the type to have already memorized every enemy in the monster manual and all the lore that could possibly be relevant, to the annoyance to anyone who is DMing, this means homebrew is often necessary to get the drop on him. The character itself has a focus on the basic planes as a source of their abilities. His first disciplines were Mastery of Fire/Air/Water/Earth(and Wood) representing the inner planes, followed by Master of Light and Darkness representing the secondary material planes. This wide variety in ability types and knowledge of stat blocks and game play means he's usually using the best moves he could possibly use at any given moment

Player: Grace Manuel Name: Taika Meanel Alignment: Neutral Good Class: Bard -Subclass: College of Glamour Background: Entertainer Backstory: Like most characters, Kaira made effort to ensure everyone was tied together, and thus, before anything else about the character was decided, it was decided that Graces character would be from Kaira's town. The town that shes from in fact likes Graces character, they like her a lot. She was an entertainer that weaved magnificence into her stories and songs. She was touched by the feywilds, and this has granted her an amount of brilliance and understanding of magic. She was a fan favorite of the party too, since she was always quick to make good jokes... until the character died ofcourse... Playstyle: She focused on helping the team, using spells like healing word and cure wounds, but she chose most of her spells based purely on what she felt would make the most sense for an entertainer to have. She refused to use spells that would directly take control of a character, saying that she wouldn't go that far and that if shes right and persuasive, she can do that without the aid of magic.

Player: ? Name: "Taika Meanel"Alignment: ? Class: Warlock-Subclass: (All?) Background: ? Backstory: There was a falling out at some point during the game. Grace wasn't the type to want to make a new character without her previous one having completed their character arcs, so when Taika died, there was no new character. Later, at a time when Sarah was DMing, out of respect for Grace's character arc, decided to revive Graces character under the control of the villain. The plan was that being alive, Grace could control the character behind the scenes; Sarah would message her before the character did anything, and Grace would tell her how it goes. This solved the situation, and Grace came with a new character... and slowly stopped caring for Taika, giving her instructions that were completely out of character. Sarah decided to take control of the character again, seeing that Grace didn't care much anymore, and she eventually became the true BBEG.Playstyle: She's a mess of a person, taking abilities from any and all warlock pacts with a mish mash of spells under her belt. When she was revived by the old BBEG, the BBEG filled her will all the souls from Aleta's town, and then made her make as many pacts as she could with as many powerful beings as she could find. To understand her fighting powers has become impossible.
