Holy crap pals, that was pretty amazing. I don't really have words. So many dead and beaten enemies. So many extra lives used up. Strider sacrifice, PM's duty overtaking Bec's love, uh, geez, there is so much to talk about.
Davepeta vs LE might have been my fav moment.

I don't know how to feel about this. It was AMAZING, (so much for none of the flashes being as long as Cascade....well I guess this wasn't, since it was longer) but in terms of new information or old threads being tied up we got pretty much bupkis.

Well...I think...that was that, then. Huh. It's a lot to process. So, hopefully I got spoilers down, but just in case I mess up: SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS DON'T LOOK DOWN OR YOU'LL GET SPOILED! Okay, so I guess we finally got to see a real, full fight! Not just one, but 8! I think...I'm counting Vriska and Hussie as a fight.
I love how they used the old sprites for a lot of it, and how much of a videogame it felt like. It kind of felt like those fighting games were the characters share a screen and just pummel each other with combos. Of course I yelled at everyone to "heal now!" and "use your Up Jump Forward X combo!" Just for fun.
I was legitimately saddened that all three Jacks have (appeared?) to have passed on. I was kinda hoping they would just lose their powers and have that be the end of it. But SS losing his head and then getting caught in an explosion might be enough to finish him off. Oh well...at least The Felt seem to be alive.
AND Dad Egbert saved the day! That was awesome, and hilarious. I loved seeing him attack with a cake, just like old times. And the Undertale reference with Davepeta was pretty sweet. AND TAVROS, TAVROS GOT TO GET A HIT IN ON LORD ENGLISH! HE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIGHT! I'M SO PROUD OF MY PATRON TROLL!!!!
But I dunno if Dirk made it out okay. I mean, Dave had to do a triple decapitation. Would that be a Heroic death, because it had to happen? But John could still retcon that event, so things could be okay.
Still some unanswered questions, but I'll let everyone else figure that one out. |

That was hilarious and amazing. And all of the protagonists survived, assuming Jane is still alive and can get to Dirk. LE remains. For an epic 18-minute-long fight animation, that sure felt... anti-climactic.
I mean don't get me wrong, it was awesome, but what happened to LE? What was Calliope about to do? And where the hell was Act 6 Act 6 Act 6?
Something felt off about the whole thing. I can't wait to find out why, starting tomorrow.
I have to say though, any story disappointment is far overshadowed by the disappointment that it's a freakin' YouTube video. I hope Hussie just put that up in anticipation of the strain on the servers and will put it on the site as a proper flash ventually.

That was an amazing flash to depict all of the collisions that took place. However, it seems odd that in 18 minutes, that's the only thing that we saw; nothing happened with alt. Calliope, Lord English wasn't even close to defeated, we didn't see much of what happened with Caliborn after beating his denizen...I'm not at all complaining about this flash, but given how much still needs to be resolved, I wouldn't be surprised if another one is still coming to wrap everything up (in addition to another, final, epilogue sort of flash at the end).
Well I'm going to have a lot of trouble going to sleep now.

I did enjoy the sprite fights but....they definitely made everything feel less serious. And Lord English has not been vanquished, Vriska hasn't used the Juju, and whatever Muse!Calliope is going to do or what Caliborn received for defeating Yaldabaoth is yet to be revealed. We got remarkably little new information out of an almost twenty minute flash. That's odd no matter how you slice it. And Jade did pretty much nothing, which makes for an interesting parallel to Cascade. |

So, the symbolism with Dirk... And then his planet... Kind of makes it seem like they were showing the hero, then planet destroyed at the same time.
But yeah, definitely expecting at least one follow-up flash to this. A lot unresolved.

This thread is a Spoiler Zone already, so it doesn't matter. Yeah, I was pretty underwhelmed by the sprite fights. They were funny, and that's about it. Nothing particularly dramatic about them, although I suppose that's kind of the point in a way? One motif that Homestuck has always had is that the big flashy fights really aren't that meaningful at the end of the day. Still though, my reaction was just "Oh. Okay, cool I guess."

The happiest moment, for me, was when Tavros, Karkat, and Dad Egbert stepped up to the plate and kicked ass. I love how Karkat just tied Clover up, which I guess if you think about it means that Karkat is actually LUCKY ENOUGH to capture him! The saddest moment was the end of Spades Slick and Bec Noir. May they rest in peace. Oh yeah Dad Egbert kicked some major ass, did not see that coming at all.
I dunno, the whole fight felt pretty epic the me. The animation and art style fit what I imagine a HS huge fight would have.
The Mind and Time duel tech was pretty cool, trying to find that one version of the timeline werent they weren't completely screwed.
