Hexane also has a mirror, in guys you guys want to know. It was pretty rad. And here's the link to it. Hexane was perhaps one of my favorite fanventures out there; it's what inspired me to start Synodic Reboot, actually. It's a shame how things got towards the end, though (the cancellation, how the author started to act, etc). Ahh I never finished it! I can't believe it got cancelled! I loved the robot pheonix so much!  |

Some pages ago, someone said that some people's passwords had indeed been compromised as a result of the Forum's incursion. Did that actually get confirmed and corroborated? Or was it just one little tumblr post somewhere that could've just been someone panicking or something?
Because WP letting the Forums fall is one thing, but if the people using their service then had their other accounts compromised as a result of their negligence, then that's a whole other level of incompetence.
But as I said, I don't want to accuse WP of anything that hasn't got reasonable proof behind it.

I can confirm that the passwords and screen names were most likely compromised. It was on a thread before the forums went completely down, but if the hacker gained access to change the PHP pages of the forum, they also gained access to the password database for the forum. An ex-admin confirmed this was the case.
As for why WP is not bothering to tell people this, I don't know.

I paid close attention to that Thread and I didn't see anyone actually say that they had been compromised. Plus, access to the database is not the same as access to the passwords, as the passwords are salted and hashed in storage. A skilled hacker could figure out the hashing algorithm, but from what I saw, the hacker looked far from skilled, and if they could swipe the passwords, they wouldn't even bother with telling everyone to change them. |

I really hated to see the end of the forums man. But I could see why they got taken down if hussie felt like it became a place of negativity. To be honest I never really liked most of the admins.

Given that he has not said anything about it either, he probably doesn't know or doesn't care, like you said. Hussie shut off pretty much most communication with the fandom except for newsposts.
I don't blame the guy, dealing with a fandom this big is kind of a huge deal, but I do blame WP for not caring/not knowing though.
