Are we gonna be doing an U4G contest this year? (this is both a question AND a prompt) What was that again?

Are we gonna be doing an U4G contest this year? (this is both a question AND a prompt) It depends. What would be the incentive? If the prize is still going to be a free t-shirt, who's going to pay for it? I can't, sadly. I literally have a hole in my pocket. I guess we could force all the losers participants to make fan art for the winner. That'd be pretty funny It was a contest held every other year on the MSPAF to encourage people to use ideas from the Up For Grabs thread

I guess we could force all the losers participants to make fan art for the winner. That'd be pretty funny I think the fanart idea is a good one. Let's be honest, most of the time people don't get their prizes anyway. I think about half the people who participated last year are still waiting for a prize, me included. It's just kind of a fun thing to do, and I'm betting people would probably participate without any kind of prize/reward whatsoever. We could also cross-post it on Eagletime as well, if you think there wouldn't be enough people interested here. Though it will be kind of strange running it without OMR. He seems to have disappeared.

You had 5 friends, but now, you only have 4, and one of them is responsible. It's up to you to figure out who done it, before they do it again. To you.

A forum adventure in which you are a tycoon. No, I mean it seriously. Make your readers manage a store, a park, or what have you, like a tycoon. Manage money, suggest things to add, stuff like that. It'd be interesting. I know some adventures have done something like that before, with a recent example being that country management thing that sort of disappeared.

I'll throw down a towel and promise at least one panel of fanart for everyone who qualifies , and maybe a one-page fancomic for the winner

Collection of idea's #2
-Generic Harem, but at the end, the completely unimportant character that was only introduced later actually wins
-An very meta adventure following someone making an adventure, with lots of references to whats happening on the forums and stuff
-An adventure that is actualy just photoes of the person creating the adventure doing things that they are told to
-People gain powerful abilities once they do the 10,000 hours at somethng thing, so 10,000 hour animators can animate things to life, and 10,000 hour factory workers can process menial tasks incredobly well, etc.
-A colection of alt universe short stories, where, with a small group of defined characters, different writers come in and for small times, have a minor adventure with them, and their interpretation of them.
-an Political Lesbian TERF and a RedPiller fall in love, comedy ensues
-A big weeaboo who knows they are super annoying, but accepts it as part of their character to be anoying, becuase they try to make real life appear like anime, to do this, she put herself in the 'annoying character' possition

An adventure that is also a forum game in a way. One person starts off by making the first panel, and the next person does the next panel, and so on. The only rule is that it has to be coherent and build off each other, and not just people changing the story/main characters every panel or so. Would probably work best under a "dibs" system. Could take commands, or not??
What would the premise for such a story be? I don't know.

Rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!
I endorse any U4G Contest or thread because I love that the legacy continues, even if my attention is now elsewhere. If any potential contest organiser wishes to contact me for hints and tips, I live mostly on tumblr @old-manrupee or sometimes rarely on Twitter @oldmanrupee. Hit me up.

Don't know if any of it got saved, though. :/

The world has been ravaged by a deadly illness. Millions have died. The protagonist lives in a walled city with extremely strict laws to keep the virus out. Any newcomers to the city are kept in quarantine to be watched for symptoms before being let in. Things like not covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze are punishable by jail time. Bringing anything in from outside the walls gets you in prison. And you do NOT want to know what happens to people who are infected. Security is tighter than the spandex over a superhero's buttcheeks.
You are immune, but carrying the virus and contagious. You also happen to be a member of a cult that believes the virus to be your god's divine punishment to humanity for not following their teachings, wiping out all but the chosen few to rebuild the world in their image. Your goal is to spread the virus to the non-believers and avoid getting caught.

I miss the U4G threads as well as their spawned adventures. I think it was healthy to churn the cradle, even if some of them died out.
I volunteered some ideas to the U4G threads on the MSPA forum site -> Luckily the reddit U4G bot grabbed them. Which comes to my questions.
A) Are ideas from the archived U4G threads allowable for the new contest, or are we focusing on 'newer' ideas? B) Is it tacky to run an adventure from an idea you yourself suggested? Obviously, any new adventure is welcome, but it seems counter to the spirit of U4G.
Idea suggestions A) Two parallel plots -> One a standard Shakespearean / Brother's Grimm Fairy tale / Aesopian Fable, and the other a modern action thriller ---> Except that shortly into each story, the protagonists jump universes and swap places.
B) You are a master shinobi. You have mastered many sacred jutsus, and your ability to channel ki is off the charts. You have just taken your most difficult mission --> Infiltrate the mobile sea-headquarters (ship) of your ninja clans most fierce rival, Capt'n Bloodbeard McFistface, scurviest seadog what ever did swing a cutlass, and recruit him into your ninja clan, without alerting any other pirate to the plan. So, now here you are, aboard a leaky wreck of a vessel, surrounded by innumerable drunk and violent Pirates, without backup. You don't even know which one is your target! They all have names like Capt'n BladeHook, or Capt'n Murdereye, and you have to *blend in*, discern the *true* Capt'n, force him to abandon Piracy and accept Ninjaism, all while leaving the other pirates none the wiser.
C) Film Noir Murder Mystery --> Shown from the feisty dame in distress's point of view. So, In Media Res reveal of the action, murder occurs, and the feisty dame must track down the grittiest Private Eye who can crack the case. He takes the case, and assumably has a gritty adventure getting to the bottom of it. Then she goes off and gets involved in alibi shredding morally ambiguous events, because of course she has to cover up her possible involvement, as feisty dames proxy to murder tend to do.
D) You are a supervillain, and your secret weapon was just triggered. *Not by you* --> You aren't even at your secret base! Somehow, all the superheros are dead/defeated/gone. What do you do with your life now?

If you do end up using your own idea, well, then it wasn't truly an adventure plot up for grabs, now was it?

"10,000,000 ways to ruin a child"
Features a mad scientist who creates child clones of himself and modifies their DNA. Each clone has a specific task they must do, but recently, the dr has found a mysterious cave/portal and is sending clones in to search it. All the clones however die quickly, so he keeps sending in new clones with new DNA changes (new character creation). The players play as the scientist, giving the clones commands, meaning that the clones gaining independance ot going insane is also a bad end that you need to avoid.
Possibly go into the clones having a sought of semi merged consciousness, and how this is effecting each of the clones.
The cave could be anything, but I think the funnest way to do it would be to have it somehow be a reflection of the scientists mind, and maybe the personalities of the clones merging with that conciousness end up effecting it!

I'd really REALLY prefer it if people used the ones from the new thread, but if it's an idea you really want to use, go for it I should clarify that I don't say this as the contest runner, but as someone who wants to see the interesting concepts that were pitched in this thread be executed Don't take it as a limitation of your choices, though, that's not what I meant or want at all! There's a plethora of ideas in the old threads and the sub reddit that are still waiting to be picked

a deep beautiful emotional love story about two astronauts who go to the moon. at the end of the adventure one throws a rock at the other and says "Now I FINALLY know if it'd be fucked up"

My idea: Somehow the 'Quest of the Highbloods' and 'lowbloods' are canon within the Homestuck world. This adventure explains how that is.

The adventure would probably work best if it accepted commands I've participated in this kind of adventure before, and it worked really well despite the lack of commands, due to the fact that people can usually steer a story in a general direction as long as nobody throws it wildly off base.

An adventure where cybercrime works like it does in a lot of PSAs, AKA reaching through the screen to grab wallets and the like.
