Now that Homestuck is over, many of us would be looking to satiate our thirst for shenanigans in the upcoming game of Andrew Hussie. This is a thread to discuss the game and the its news.

I'm really looking forward to it. I hope the first episode finally comes out soon-ish. Summer at the latest, I hope.
And I just remembered a bit ago that one of the stretch goals for the Kickstarter was for a making-of art book for the game. Considering all the awesome concept art we've seen, that also sounds pretty exciting. I'm looking forward to it all.

Is Hiveswap going to be the same amount of episodes most episodic games are? Most of them are usually 5 episodes.

Last update I remember was released in December. Is that right, and we haven't had anymore news since then?

Pretty much.
James Roach said things were going well on reddit, though, just a few days ago. No specifics though.

I was hoping we'd hear some news from the game on 4/13. I guess Hussie doesn't want to announce anything until the game is finished.

Something that's confused me. The game takes place during the 90's in the B1 universe, right? Then why is Alternia in the game? Alternia was destroyed by meteors during the reckoning before the human world was created, so how does that work?

Alternia was destroyed by meteors during the reckoning before the human world was created, so how does that work? We've had much more unusual situations in Hometuck itself and we kind of accepted them as they were. This actually looks tame compared to some of the things that happened in the webcomic itself. This just looks like normal time travel.

They're two different universes with two separate timelines. No time travel involved. GA: No We Arent From "The Future" GA: But We Are All Already In Agreement That You Dont Get It And Never WillTT: I understand. TT: You exist in some temporal stratum through which you have communication access to various points of my timeline. TT: It's not that complicated.

I'm not going to lie, when I saw this thread, I decided to make a quick check in case any news had come out about the game. -cough- Pretty much. James Roach said things were going well on reddit, though, just a few days ago. No specifics though. Oh, well still that's kind of nice to hear. Something that's confused me. The game takes place during the 90's in the B1 universe, right? Then why is Alternia in the game? Alternia was destroyed by meteors during the reckoning before the human world was created, so how does that work? Well, the link between worlds is not linear. Going from Earth, you're sent "back in time" but also to another universe altogether, so there probably shouldn't even be any even way to synchronize their timelines without picking any random convenient point of reference. Here's some discussion. Looking back at the old trailer that's on youtube, makes me miss the 3D look all the more. It was pretty much what I've always wanted out of the Homestuck art style, and the game was doing it wonderfully. I of course understand the need to change to 2D for budget and time reasons, and the game looks splendid still, maybe even moreso in some ways. Still, no matter how cutscenes are handled, that's one thing 3D I think does better by its very nature. They could decide to keep that 3D, which is something I thought of back during the first teaser images, but it could be kind of jarring in practice. It's a darn shame. Still, I'm happy to see what we got so far, and am hopeful to get at least a little more with the art book, or something along those lines. And I know the 2D will look great in its own right, and has strengths 3D doesn't have, not having some of the weaknesses 3D does. In fact, I'm kind of glad we haven't seen terribly much of the gameplay in 2D, since now in a way it'll be totally new and unseen.

No specifics though. eh, hussie's said that in every kickstarter update since 2013, so i wouldnt get excited. im honestly surprised their wasnt an update on 4/13 tbh. as for how many parts, last official word was 4 but someone on reddit looked into the hiveswap sites code and found references to parts 5 and 6. but that was last summer before the game was scraped. so who knows.

Just going to post a link here in order to provide a reference to anyone who isn't up-to-date on the Hiveswap/The Odd Gentlemen debacle, which I'm inclined to blame most of the delays and hitches Hiveswap's had in it's development on.

How much you wanna bet that Episode Five would have had two "Sub-Episodes", Episode Six would have had six "Sub-Episodes" (several with there own "Sub-Sub-Episodes"), and there would have been a very short Episode Seven? Anyway, I am excited for the game. I did not have a chance to donate to the Kickstarter, but I am going to buy it as soon as I can.

Yeah, it caused so much delays in both the game and the comic. Also it's really frustrating that we can't spread this as far as we can because Hussie would be in trouble.

This needs to have Homestuck 2.0 slapped on the end of it.

Hussie's last news thingie said there'd be plenty of other news in the coming months...maybe that means an update on Hiveswap isn't too far off? Maybe?

That would be really nice. Probably also some announcements on plans for the future of MSPA and himself. Maybe some chatter on all this Homestuck 2.0 business. But mostly, Hiveswap news would be swell. Maybe some kind of vague hints about a possible release date, perhaps?

Two things come to mind after watching it. 1) I'm glad they decided to go with 2D, since the 3D Backgrounds don't really feel like they fit with the character models. 2) Interesting that the portal that takes Joey to Alternia has so much Cherub symbology built into it. Didn't expect to see much of them in Hiveswap.

Heeh... I still stand by my original opinion, I didn't like the 3D and I'm glad they switched to 2D. But at least I don't think it was ugly and vaguely lazy like I did the first time I saw the trailer.
Also, now that Homestuck is supposedly mostly done, I'm a little more curious about this project than I used to be as well.

I'm one of the ones who saw these closer to when they first came out, since I was kind of ravenous for any new information that presented itself, which wasn't always advertised by anyone officially. Things like this, and other little interviews and stuff like that. These videos though were certainly some of my favorite, a nice glimpse into the gameplay experience.
In response to the above, I also stand by MY opinion, I think the 3D looks great and makes a fun world to explore. But I really can't even say the 2D will be any worse, I'm just a wee bit biased because I've always wanted a 3D Homestuck experience, and this was going to be it. But it's no biggie.
Other than that stylistic upheaval, I wonder how many things have changed since when this version was current. Stuff like little tweaks in the plot and gameplay throughout the development process that might have expanded considerably on what we've seen already.
