Oh, hush. You know how these things are. Anyway, it's interview time again!Which I missed again because it came out on the late side and I went to bed on the early side! Today's spotlight star is Angela Sham, a longstanding fan/animator who did a lot (most?) of the work for Act 7, and apparently a lot of work for Hiveswap too! Mostly just a closer look at some things we've seen already, but we also get this funny hella dope gif of Xefros beat boxing. It sort of reminds me of Joey's little victory dance, but as this one loops it might not really be the same thing. Perhaps most interestingly to me is her message to the fans, standing quite apart from what most of the others chose to say. I know. You don’t think I know, but I know. I’m there too.

Oooooh, I had no idea the person behind the Lullaby for Gods was also working on Hiveswap! I knew she helped on Act 7, but I didn't know she came on the Hiveswap team too, that's great!
Now that I think about it, some of those cutscenes that we've seen do remind me a bit of some of the scenes in Act 7, being almost anime-like! Nice.

It looks like this time we won't be getting an interview. We will next week! For now we get a couple pics of Xefros and Dammek by HONE, who makes some hella dope art and, I believe, contributed to [S] Collide. And in case you're wondering I'm PRETTY SURE those are they each have their names behind them in Alternian letters. These teasers are very character-splashy, like I could see this being their pose if they were unveiled as the latest Smash Bros. fighters. Wonder what context they will be in. Posters? That hexagonal background suggests something internet-related to me. Maybe they have their own indie website?

Oooh, I dig this art. And hahaha, yeah they do kind of look like "CHALLENGER APPROACHES" art of Super Smash Bros. xD I checked out the link that was provided in the post and indeed, Hone did stuff for Collide! This is a really cool picture.

Yeah, I really liked the pictures we got, a lot of little teasing details. - Jude being all like 'Don't move or you'll get it' with his gun. I can only assume he's pointing it at some of the monsters in the yard? I forgot if it was a flare gun, but I remember that in any case, it's a dud - it has no bullets, initially at least. - The conspiracy sheet is interesting too. Of course Jude must be overthinking a lot of things, but you know what they say about broken clocks... The fact that he saw activity on November 11th might mean that, even if these politicians weren't among the hooded figures, they could very well be in league with dark forces (B1 Betty Crocker). - It seems at one point Joey's going to go through her prized collection of state of the art (at the time) family games, heheh. - "Calliope's self portrait" is so great. And I just realized it serves as the counterpoint of the pictures of the employees' workstations in past interviews, hahah!

Yay, Shelby! Some really interesting pictures in here again! I like how Jude's little gun kinda looks like a mix of Jake's guns and Grandpa's blunderbuss, haha. Also, his hero-mode like pose here with pointing his gun while slightly looking away looks a bit familiar to me, did anyone in Homestuck have such a moment at some point? Also, WOW, did Shelby draw those animal pictures? Because I DEFINITELY hadn't realized yet those were drawings instead of actual pictures! Whenever we saw them on Joey's wall before I just thought they were drawings. Now that we see them from a bit closer, I think the fact that it's drawn is now a bit more clear in the dolphin and the tiger picture. But still, wow, that's some really realistic art! And then that picture of Jude's tree hut! First of all a 11/11 reference, and then some more interesting references to those hooded figures Jude noticed outside his tree house! I wonder if there's a special reason why he put a circle around the "12". The Simon Says picture is also pretty interesting to me. All versions of Simon Says that I've seen before have a blue color instead of pink. Do real Simon Says games like that exist? And of course these colours remind me of Jade, Rose, Dave and Dirk.

No interview this week, just an image and a promise. Now, I honestly don't want to get too excited for what this could possibly portend, but... What else are keys for? Anyway this honestly kind of derailed me a bit because I wanted to start doing a new thing. Lookie:

Oh boy, it definitely looks like SOMETHING special will be happening next week!
Like, I don't want to be getting my hopes up too high for a Hiveswap release next week, but goddamn that would be the best birthday present.

Some translation notes:
Xefros' room has plenty of alternian to translate. The books in the foreground appear to read "You can sing" and "manners for Royal V." The poster on the left wall says "Dromed Bactar," presumably a famous stickball player and idol of Xefros'. There's a calendar in the back that appears to follow the same general rules of Earth time. The month, Culluary, appears to start on Thursday, and the first nine days are crossed out. The 23d day is marked. It looks to be a 30 or 31 day month. The word on the top I think says Gamblignant? It's pretty hard reading very small text on the video, so some of it might be inaccurate, but I tried my best.
This is really only the tip of the iceberg on what there is to get from this trailer, but I can't get into it all just now. Oh, and the chat program in the next shot after is called Rebelgram.
16 days to go.

GET HYPE Yesssss, it's finally coming! We've been waiting so long, and now it's just around the corner. This is awesome! I love the new trailer, a really cool combination of old and new material. I wonder what's with that rocket/bomb falling from the sky? I wonder what the deal with that is, does it have something to do with those mysterious figures Jude's been investigating? Also, I like how it reminds me of the meteors falling from the sky in Homestuck. And dear god, that animation as the Hiveswap title appears and Joey and Dammek pass by each other. SO AWESOME. Heh, Joey falling into the mouth of that monster reminds me of John falling into the mouth of that Basilisk Underling in Homestuck, which Grandpa saved him from. Is... that Joey holding a perfectly generic object? And oooooooh, apparently Xefros has got powers much like Aradia! At least, that what it looks like when that spoon is getting lifted into the air! ...Wait. That's actually both a spoon AND a fork, ha! Much like Jane's weapon. And oh man, we're getting a chat application too! Yessss, the predecessor of Trollian, perhaps? For a second I was pretty puzzled by the content of that message until I realized it's probably Joey using Dammek's account there! I mean, that makes the most sense what with the lack of a quirk, not knowing what a hive is and not knowing who Xefros is. I'm not sure I understand Xefros' response there. It's kind of giving me Sopor Gamzee vibes. xD What I REALLY like is that apparently you get to choose what Joey says to Xefros! That's really interesting that you can control how the conversation goes. Anyway... BOOYEAH, it's almost here!

Imagine the exhilaration of me seeing there was a launch date announced for Hiveswap today! Yes, it came early, but it was already Wednesday somewhere on Earth by then. The newest holiday in Homestuck mythology is September 14th! I wonder if 914 is going to be a small Easter egg in Hiveswap proper, or even an arc number on scale with what 413, 612, 1025 and 1111 meant for Homestuck! Due to all the delays in the development, I kind of doubt the latter will be true. I'm sure we're in for more We Love Fine merch coming to us in September as well! Now if I can just find the time to play it with Blaperile, that's probably going to have to wait until the weekend. Welp! I wonder what the significance is of it coming out on a Thursday. Wait, isn't that the normal release date for movies in the US? I kind of remember it being so, because it was a big deal at one point due to Europe's day for releases being Wednesday! This meant we got a movie the earliest in the world at one point, when it released quasi-simultaneously world wide. (And Tuesdays are for avant-premieres.) Anyway, onto the trailer! ---
A lot of new Jude faces in here, hahah, showing us he can be as dorkly as John when he's not being paranoid, scared or just plain timid.
I wonder what the bomb dropping is supposed to be? It would be something if both Dammek and Joey's homes were destroyed at the end of their respective acts! The rubble we see Xefros staring in shock at one point could point in that direction, but it could also just be Joey arriving. It (the bomb) could also be one of Grandpa's. I see him collecting WMDs for the luls, and use them as furniture or something. Or even catapult fodder.
Speaking of, we see a lot of dramatic reaction shots, but not what they're reacting to, luckily, as for keeping suspense up.
I liked the little moment where Joey and Dammek halt in the midst of the swap and get a good look at each other before getting dragged on again, hahah. Nice freeze frame.
Also, I like the effect of Joey getting suck(er)ed into the portal, kind of like she fell into a pool of candy and can't keep afloat.
What's the deal with Joey seemingly getting eaten by one of the monsters? A 'what if' imagination? Or an event she just barely gets rescued from? Or maybe she spin-kicks her way out of the beast's gut, who am I to know?
Blaperile noted the seeming-generic cube. Maybe Grandpa took it with him from the Medium? Or, since it's glowing, maybe it's just an eccentric lamp.
Notice how the captions ('AN ADVENTURE TOO BIG FOR A TEEN') are in the same font as the Hiveswap logo!
Oh dear (deer) god, at 0:30 Joey youth-rolls out of Dammek's block, to escape his lusus. That's probably the first thing she does on arrival! Then she closes the door behind her.
Blaperile also pointed out what Xefros is doing in his room - he's practicing his psychic powers! Seems he's a long way away from Aradia's control. Perhaps Aradia like many of her friends, also exhibited an exceptional version of her bloodcaste's speciality.
It seems telekinesis is also his equipped 'strife' specibus, like Joey's ballet shoes!
Oooh, and if I'm not mistaken, at 0:34, Xefros strikes a conversation through his chat client with Joey on Dammek's computer! He doesn't notice because pretending they don't know each other must be part of their shtick, perhaps because of Dammek's slightly higher blood colour. And his quirk is using X for 'ex' sounds, and for his horns in his smilies!
I like how instead of speech bubbles, the chat client shows speech hexagons. Another shoutout to the trolls' alien and insect-like biology.
Oh, hmm, at 0:37, Joey puts the generic cube in a lock of some sort. Not to say she couldn't have brought that block with her from Earth, but it looks to be less likely.
--- Yep, I'm still looking forward to playing this game and meeting these characters. It's been a long time coming!

Oh man, after having read that updated press kit page I just want to say I'm really thrilled about the fact that there will be a unique response for EVERY combination of items! Just imagine the amazing texts we can get out of that by combining the most ridiculous items. Also, I wonder if it can even lead to ridiculous (permanent) changes in your environment? I'd love to somehow be capable of sticking a fake arm in a cake somewhere.

Good news for anyone going to PAX this weekend!Random comment about the trailer: It's cool seeing bits and pieces of teasers we got throughout the interviews coming into place in the final game. Like that rad dancing animation for Joey. My guess back then was that it was like a victory animation for winning a Strife. It looks like it's some sort of action you can do anywhere that may have an effect on the environment. She appears to use the dance to knock loose a box containing her iconic flashlight and ballet shoes. 13 days to go.

Seeing as starting with this demo version Hiveswap is now playable, and the actual Hiveswap is launching in two weeks, I'm opening up this Hiveswap subforum! I'm closing this thread, and from now on discussion should go in the correct corresponding thread in the Hiveswap subforum. Please read this announcement for further info! Thank you!
