Omg Sigh Why everybody got to be so grumpy and negative around here? Hiveswap is almost out. There's so much to be excited for. Maybe in a few weeks the tone around here will change. That's what I always hope for.

Everybody is grumpy and negative around here because Hussie made a fan base by developing quality content very quickly and being part of his own community, and then he stopped doing that to focus on a video game, leading to several years of dicking around producing very low quality at a very slow rate with almost no word from him or his associates. At this point the only reason I care about Hiveswap is to see if I'll get my money's worth out of it. I personally doubt I will.

I find it bemusing that Hiveswap was first announced and kickstarted shortly after the launch of Steam Greenlight, and not long after it's eventually greenlit Steam Greenlight itself is phased out.

To be fair Hussie has little to gain from a newspost, and a lot to loose from a bad newspost.
And he is probably busy to the max!
Hussie is the manager, right? I wonder if he is making art or programming when things aren't busy.

Arashi I wanted to see what you meant by greenlight being phased out and found it funny that one of the top search suggestions when you type in 'steam green' is 'steam greenlight hiveswap'.
Lmao.

At this point the only reason I care about Hiveswap is to see if I'll get my money's worth out of it. I personally doubt I will. Well, this is a pretty vitriolic post, but I'll give you credit. It was kind of Andrew's thing to produce as much content as possible very quickly, something he kept up with very little interruption for around 3-4 years. And we knew that was pretty crazy and out of the ordinary, but it still created an expectation that was hard to put aside when reality caught up to him. It's not fair to blame Hiveswap, or any particular event, for delaying or affecting the quality of Homestuck, because that's how it goes for these things. Juggling multiple projects, or something like having one 'real' day job and working on a webcomic or video game in one's spare time, is something a lot of creators do. This is generally understood and accepted in cases outside of Andrew. Spending every waking hour of every day on Homestuck, drawing panels incredibly quickly and updating every day is not normal by these standards, but it's what the fans were used to. So no matter what, it's hard to adjust to being put on hold for a year, and it's hard to remain patient with a game that's being developed at regular speed. We're like the Flash if he lost his super speed, basically. Saying Homestuck is 'high quality' and Hiveswap is 'very low quality', though, is a bias bordering on blindness. And I can tell you, if you choose to make an enemy out of the game, then you definitely won't get your money's worth out of it. How could it possibly succeed when you don't want it to? I don't know. It's not that I don't get why people are complaining, they're legitimate complaints. It just gets me that seems to be the mood around her almost perpetually. Salt about the Hiveswap situation and the ending of Homestuck, endless critiques about this and that. There's room for positive talk to, I know there is! So why does that feel so much rarer? Maybe that's pretty selfish of me. This is the only place I have to seriously get into Homestuck discussion, so it gets disheartening it never seems to be the way I want it. I mean, maybe I'm selfish for wanting a little more lighthearted, positive discussion? At this point I can't tell. To be fair Hussie has little to gain from a newspost, and a lot to loose from a bad newspost. And he is probably busy to the max! Hussie is the manager, right? I wonder if he is making art or programming when things aren't busy. Honestly, I doubt he's personally contributing assets to the game at this stage. Of course, he game up with the characters and scenario overall. From what we've seen, it sounds to me like he's pretty closely involved with the production at all stages. Cohen refers to Andrew approving of what he's written, and James Roach recalls that Andrew made specific and direct requests that lead to Broom Temperature. He probably is pretty busy poring through everything in the game making sure it's all good and up to his standards and such. Or was, assuming that's all finished now and they're just working on bug testing. He's also probably busy with whatever other project(s) he has going on. Otherwise, I agree. Very busy, and at this point, I would be pretty hesitant to disrupt such tumultuous waters too. I find it bemusing that Hiveswap was first announced and kickstarted shortly after the launch of Steam Greenlight, and not long after it's eventually greenlit Steam Greenlight itself is phased out. Wait omg is that true that's amazing

It's so sad watching the forums dry up slowly. I try to be hopeful that this is the calm before the storm, and that hiveswap will cause the forums to implode once more.
But it would be sad if they never recovered.

These forums stay pretty active compared to my other online haunts, but I do think Hiveswap's success will bring out a lot of people to the community across the board. Once the official forums come back, I know we'll see a lot of returning members and newbies alike.

So Hiveswap is almost two months late with no word on what's going on. I doubt it'd come out in March, and the Nintendo Switch comes out on the third so he'd probably be competing with the switch for people spending their monthly budget on games. I'm still gonna get Hiveswap whenever it comes out because I've had 40 bucks sitting in my steam account since NOVEMBER SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED FOR HIVESWAP HUSSIE I WILL GIVE YOU MONEY JUST RELEASE THE GAME.
Why did they say january??
Jeez man this game has been delayed more times than something else that has been delayed a lot more than you'd normally expect.
I used to check this forum every few minutes for entertainment and now it's dead and so I spend all day rereading old discussions and accessing the old forums through archives it's just so sad how far we've fallen since Cascade.

We know what's going on, though. They're bug testing and presumably waiting for Hussie to finish whatever that other project is. I don't imagine it'll be more than a week or two before we hear some more news.

Mighty No. 9 was sceduled for release April 2015, and ended up being released in June 2016, so... at least Hiveswap isn't there yet.

And yeah, it is kind of sad this place has gone quiet, but there's nothing much to talk about right now. Activity was still fairly bustling when this place started up, just on the eve of Homestuck's conclusion, and obviously that was going to fuel arguments for months on end. (Coming up on nearly a year now in fact, looking back on it) Even as that well started to run dry, there was the snapchat content, and news of Hiveswap to keep us going. At this point, though, I guess speculation can't really go any farther. There's just nothing for Homestuck fans to do right now but wait.
Considering we'll be getting Hiveswap Act 1, that will surely breathe new life into things, and that will be sustained for a good while by the following Acts, however long they take to produce (hopefully not nearly as long as Act 1!). As well as the "Thing" which will be announced simultaneously. So I wouldn't say we're quite dead yet, as there are big things to look forward to.

That, as always, would be pretty neat, but I somehow doubt it.
I had a dream last night that Andrew's "several weeks" post was edited to announce that the release date for Hiveswap would be March 3rd. Probably not even worth mentioning, but I'll have that date in my head now until it passes by and/or Hiveswap comes out.

March 3rd is the day the Switch comes out, and a lot of shit in my personal life is falling on that day. March third seems to be a fate day. 3/3. I think we have a potential meme number. Oh also the billy talent concert is on that day. FATE

Do you think Hiveswap comes out on 4/13? It would make sense. And, well, March 3rd is long gone.

Yeah, 3/3 ended up being nothing. My next guess was 3/14, which also ended up being a bad guess. With each passing day, 4/13 is seeming more and more likely. But I'm thinking that's an "at the latest" guess. Honestly, these are exciting times, because it could come out any day now. It's certainly been "several weeks" by now. It could be tomorrow, for all we know. Or it could be another month, but no longer than that. We don't have a solid date, but unless something comes up yet again, we are sooo much on the precipice. Really, we should be on all kinds of tenterhooks. It's like if you didn't know when Christmas was, then you just wake up one day and you have all sorts of sweet presents in your living room by surprise.

We've been "on the precipice" for two months. No real reason to assume it's anywhere close, seeing as the last two time estimates have gone by without so much as a tumbleweed.
It'll come out when it comes out. Not sure why we're firing up the hype machine for continued radio silence.
