I really like this! But I'd rather wait until it's done to play it. That being said, I will be keeping a close eye on this forum thread as I am very interested in the game and eager to see its progress.

Hmm! If you've got empty NPC slots, the Homestuck music team could always use more namedrops.

It's been a while... here's some new sprites. GAMBIT SCHEMAI'll start working on some Felt trainer sprites. Trainer sprites use the same size and color restrictions as pokemon sprites, right?

Excellent, nice to see you again. Trainer sprites do indeed use the same restrictions. In other news, I recovered the oldest "what's been decided on" masterlist from google cache, and I'm working though it to update it. It's in the first post. If I've misremembered anything, please go right ahead and correct me. Finally, have a screenshot. I also did some work on the Maple Valley map. It's a bit wider, and the houses should look like John's from the outside.

Underground Paths could be Midnight Crew Underground Lair, and again Professor Mayonaka could fill in the position of Teacher, Mr.Fuji, or even MewTwo.
Or MewTwo could Ice Cream Man from "And It Don't Stop." That seems like a good fit.
Also is Indigo Plane Scratch's Apartment on Green Moon or the Felt Mansion on Alternia?

E4 were at the time of the MSPAF Crash:
The Handmaid, the ICP (or some form of Gamzee), The Batterwitch and Doc Scratch.
Handmaid used GT Damara, GT Aradia and I believe some of the Wizardy characters like Rose and Eridan.
The ICP used GT Gamzee, GT Kurloz, Lil' Cal and I want to say some rap-based characters like GT Dirk and GT Dave. Arquius would work very well on them due to being Slam Poet/Rapper and being a part of LE.
The Batterwitch used Life players, so GT Feferi, GT Meenah, GT Jane, as well as probably Gl'bgolybsprite and some other stuff.
Doc Scratch I can't actually remember the team for. It may have been all the girls he was creepy to? I don't remember honestly.
I still personally think Jailbreak man or MSPA Reader are our best bets for Mewtwo. I'd rather keep this game within MSPA if we can, and not defer to Hussie's other works.

It's good to know this still exists, even if I still have some disagreements with some of the decisions. I look forward to following this more. Good luck all.

Handmaid is a mon already (though she could be using herself because Weird Time Shit or something), as far as I remember. She could use Aradia's other forms, too? Maybe we could toss Squarewave and Sawtooth in the ICP's team... The Batterwitch needs GT Jade (maybe Gcat too? And even herself if we do a thing where Lord English and those under his curse have... a special type of temporal dislocation or something because Lord of Time bullshit, so we'd fight the Demoness, who has a Handmaid, and the Batterwitch/Baroness, who has a Condesce... ?) and Scratch's team would then be Grimdark Rose, GT Vriska, GT Kanaya and, if we stretch things a little, perhaps Mindfang (she originally had the Magic Cue Ball) or even Eridan?? (<-- stretching it a lot, but there's that 'What would you say if I told you a vengeful boy was led by angels down a dark path and learned to destroy hope with their light' thing, paraphrased) I don't remember who of those two would be Mewtwo, but I think there was discussion of either making them a joke character or actually really powerful... There was also talk of Alpha Male??? I'll post some item images I had lying around tomorrow!

Which of these Doze trainer sprites looks best? I thought it would be funny if he hadn't actually gotten his Sylladex cards out yet, but I wasn't sure where the cards would be without him holding them. They could be on his hat, like the bomb in the Intermission, or in a decidedly non-canon pocket. Or, just in his hand.

Just in his hand. It's simple and easy and sounds just good.
(Is Lord English going to be a trainer in this? I think it'd be interesting)

I like the hat or the hand sprite best.

Okay, so! I've only recently found out about this forum existing, and I apologize for not being here sooner, but I've arrived.
I was fairly active in the old MSPAF thread for a very long time, but around the start of the Omegapause, I got really burnt out on everything Sburbmon, and had to take a massive break. I just spent so long putting far too much of my energy and time into thinking about and talking about this game, and eventually that made me a little bit sick of it! However, I've been away long enough now that I think I can work up a decent amount of enthusiasm again.
I'm sorry if I'm not 100% up-to-date on everything that's happened recently, but I will try to get myself up to speed as quickly as I can! Too bad I can't read through the old thread again, I guess.
My first order of business, I think, should be reworking the stats of the Jack Noir and Parcel Mistress evolution lines. When I first created the stats for them, I thought of them as being the "ultimate Sburbmon", so to speak-- the two toughest, most overpowered 'mons you can obtain. However, I feel like this is short-sighted in hindsight, especially with the fact that Jackspers and Bec Blanche are used by two gym leaders. I promised I'd edit their stats a long time ago, but disappeared before I could, so I guess it's finally time to follow up on that.
(HP/Att/Def/SpA/SpD/Spe)
Jack Noir 70/100/80/55/75/72 (452)
Jackspers 70/110/80/85/75/102 (522)
Bec Noir 70/130/80/105/75/122 (582)
RoboSlick 70/120/120/55/75/92 (532)
JackEnglsh (should we consider renaming him "Union Jack" to fit the character limit better?) 70/100/80/125/95/112 (582)
PM 90/90/80/55/75/62 (452)
Bec Blanche 110/110/80/105/75/102 (582)
I did this in kind of a hurry, so consider these stats just a "first draft" that may change later. I think they're a good start, though! My primary concern is making Bec Blanche not too overpowered for the sixth gym leader, so hopefully I've done that without nerfing her too hard.

Nubaris the horns on Damara look a li'l bit wonky. I know they've been established to go whichever way they look cool for the scene but them curling up and forward like that on the backsprite just seems a bit off, if that makes any sense. It looks to me like they curl down, forward along her head? Kind of like this. The rest of the sprites look great though, gotta love that Fefeta. Also: Reflecting recent developments, will there need to be inclusions of Tavrosprite, GCatavrosprite, Jasprose, and Davepeta? I don't recall what the decisions were on those though I think there was some discussion on the latter two but I don't remember if we settled on anything.

Her horns are meant to look like the Handmaid's here and here (the first one's a sorta flashy gif and it won't let me spoil images) So they don't curl forward, it's just perspective screwups orz If someone can make them (or the wings) look better, I'll post the xcf files. On the post-retcon sprites: GcaTavros, Davepeta and Jasprose are a thing, but as far as I know Tavrosprite isn't. EDIT: According to the Evolution LIst on the Big Mon Checklist, Tavrosprite and Nepetasprite are a thing too. Here's the Dromiceiomimus!

Huh, i thought we decided not to have them since they didn't have any significant differences from the normal forms. I did all the stat/moveset work for the post retcon sprites and i dont have anything down for them. Same with rosesprite.

No worries muffinz, that's entirely reasonable. Glad too see you around again anyways. Also I always thought Union Jack was a fun name for him, and the less squishy names the better. So I'm for renaming.
I can't remember if this was what we went with or just a suggestion, but I remember something about them being a thing, but were literally not any different than Tavros and Nepeta, statwise/movewise; existing only to make the evolution chains smoother. Grub -> Sprite w/ Kernelstone, -> Sprite^2 @lv 45. Rosesprite didn't exist though, because the evolution line could fit nicely off Rose or Jaspers without needing any weird forks.

Nubaris, I actually thought the wings were the best part of the sprite. I favor the third one slightly but the other one with the wings is really good as well.

So, regarding other things, I've noticed the newer additions to the Big 'Mon Checklist. Specifically, the following: Hope Angel Skeletal Consort Rammom Vodka Mutini Horsaroni Dreambot Dirkbot I don't think I was around to discuss these when they were first suggested, so I really hope I'm not blatantly retreading things that were said already, but I'd like to give my thoughts on some of these. Hope Angel I like the type and idea behind this Sburbmon, but due to its abysmal offensive capabilities I don't feel like it would be particularly useful or viable on an actual player's team, and they're a minor enough creature that I feel like they don't HAVE to be a guaranteed addition into the game. Here's my issue-- if something is very weak to the point of not being very viable as a real team member, and it also happens to be a somewhat forgettable and inconsequential "character", I would consider either retooling it or retiring it. Weaker Sburbmon should totally exist, and not all fully-evolved ones should be especially strong, but when they're also a super minor character... I'm not saying Angels should not exist in the game, but that they seem like they should be pretty low-priority among the characters to include.
Skeletal Consort My problem with this one is that there is not only a single thing referred to as a "Skeletal Consort". There are four species, each with a distinct enough appearance, and I can't think of any way to mash them together into a single pokémon slot. So I think we should ask ourselves, "Is it worth it to include four minor, weak Sburbmon that function identically to one another just to fill out the 'dex?"
Rammom Another very minor character, but I can more readily see adding this one, since it does complete the full lusus list. We have a TON of Psychic-types already, though, and once again I can't imagine this one being very strong. This is just another character I'd personally consider "low-priority", one that we wouldn't necessarily want to have finalized unless we're sure it's a worthwhile inclusion that will serve a notable purpose in the gameplay of Sburbmon.
Vodka Mutini Is she capable of evolving into anything? If not, I don't see the purpose of adding this one. She's far weaker than even the weakest of fully-evolved or non-evolving Pokémon to ever exist aside from maybe... Luvdisc or something? A dedicated enough player could definitely take a Consort or a Hope Angel (in their current states) to the end of the game, but I can think of no situations where Mutini could be a helpful team member. If she needs to exist in the game as a stand-alone Sburbmon, I don't think she can function with stats that low unless we give her her own "gimmick", such as how Luvdisc holds Heart Scales in the wild.
Horsaroni Now this one, I like the inclusion of. It's got a fun and decently fitting type, and it's only natural that the one 'mon we saw from the Pokémon parody gets included in the Pokémon hack. I do feel like its stats could be bumped up a tiny bit, though, in order to make it more memorable and useful to players. Or, alternatively, we could include "Horsaponi" as a prevolution to Horsaroni, making it an evolution line! I know there's no visual difference between them but size, but it would incorporate a canonical detail from Fiduspawn into our game.
Dreambot & Dirkbot I don't think these should be included, for a few reasons. The evolution lines of all the kids are already very crowded, and there's a balance to them as well. Out of all eight kids, the only one who doesn't follow the same evolution line template as the others is Jane, and that's only because Nanna is capable of a second evolution. Also, Dreambot and Dirkbot are pretty extraneous within the story of Homestuck, and they only barely count as their own "character" in the first place, since they both essentially function as copies of Jade and Dirk that show no individual will. Regardless of their function in battle, I don't think they would be a good addition to this game. I could suggest my own stat ideas for a few of these, but I'm gonna wait first to see what opinions other people have about these things. I totally missed any sort of discussion periods that might have happened for them, so I'm sorry if I look like a total idiot right now. :V

I did stats for a lot of these and have move sets for them, so i'll talk a bit about each Hope Angel is meant to be more of a tank than anything else, hence the awful attack stats.
Skeletal Consorts we've talked about for a bit on how to handle the different forms. WE haven't really reached a agreement, although i think it might not be a bad idea to just put in one to represent all 4 types.
Rammom is really just there to round out the Lussi.
Vodka Mutini is meant to be an alternative to jaspers, but looking back i agree the stats on this one need to be changed. Also there were very few non-trickster fairy types.
Horsaroni I like a lot too, and i think the horseaponi idea could work. What if we just used the same sprite differently scaled for it?
The two bots are to make the robostone more useful and add some more steel types.
Overall, all of them are really just to add a bit more variety in mons. I certainly agree they need some tuning up so feel free to give it a shot.
Heres a link to a thing i just put in the dropbox with my movesets and notes for all of them, plus the post retcon sprites. www.dropbox.com/s/fzzyxb6ux25c8qb/Shadowsandbags%20mon%20movelist%20stuff.docx?dl=0

I'll see what everyone else thinks before making any decisions regarding those mons. They're all definitely low priority though.
In the meantime, I'm working on updating the Felt. What sorts of Sburbmon do you think they should use? I'm thinking high Speed/low Speed Sburbmon for Itchy and Doze respectively, but I'm not sure whether they should use Sburbmon local to their location in the game or have a consistent (yet evolving) team throughout the game. What do you all think? And any suggestions for other Felt members?

My thoughts on the new Sburbmon: I'm completely in favour of them existing. It adds to the experience of the game, creates a little more type variety, and frankly I see nothing of issue with them being included. I think it's a good idea to tweak them a little bit though. For the Felt's teams, I think they should keep the same Sburbmon in every encounter you have with them (of course, updating with new levels and evolution as it goes along). I definitely like the idea of Itchy having good Speed stats on his 'mons, and Dose having very slow ones. That's a nice idea. Trace and Fin should have one of the Striders each, as their whole game is being sneaky and ninja-like. Clover should absolutely have Vriska on his team in some form, and Karkat would also be good. If we're using stats to plan teams out, then Sawbuck could have Pokémon with high defensive stats and Cans can have Sburbmon with high Physical Attack stats. Finally, it's moveset time! I've done a few of 'em today, so take a gander. First up are a couple of Skeletal beings; the Skeletal Imp and the Skeletal Consort! I know you already did the consort, Shadow, but I wanted to touch it up a little, as it wasn't fitting as nicely with my previous pattern as I would have liked. It was overall a really good set though. Next, are the Cherubs! These are the last of the 'mons that are already in the game, so from now on I'll be working on stuff that isn't, so that's good. Caliborn is based off Archen, and Calliope is based off Togetic, although their movesets look radically different than said bases. If memory serves me right, the Baby Cherub evolved at Level 20, which is why I only started the Cherubs' movesets then, giving them a nice, solid four moves to learn right off the bat. If it's earlier, like 15 or something, that's fine too, just move the level 20 moves to that level. I also seem to remember their God Tier forms being level 40, hence why their final evos' moves shoot up in level learned. Because of how powerful and important these characters are, I wanted to give them some late levels for their moves, especially Calliope, with her one instance of Sketch. Finally, some stone evos! I've only done Davesprite, Grimdark Rose and Jadesprite so far, but these are so quick and easy that honestly I can easily do a bunch more tomorrow (if I have the time!). You may notice that their movesets are extremely similar to their GT forms! That's because they are pretty much the same! There's mainly just different STAB moves in their learnsets now, although I tried to give each of them a little something more interesting than that, such as a more supporting set for Davesprite, a more offensively minded set for Rose, and a fun possibility for a physical set on Jadesprite. Quick question on the stone evos though; would people rather they were the traditional stone evolutions with mostly relearner moves and a few level up moves, as they usually are in Pokémon, or would you rather the sets were as I've done them here (ie full movesets).

Out of those new Sburbmon, the only ones I definitely wouldn't want to include are the Dreambot and Dirkbot. Mayyyybe the Dirkbot could work, but both of them seem really out-of-place and weird IMO, especially in an already-cluttered couple of evolution lines.
Regarding the Felt, I think it would be kind of funny and fitting if we gave Cans an Arquius (evolved from an Equius of course) and a Dad. If you want I could consider planning out the full endgame teams of each of them later, but I don't think I have quite enough time for that now.
The first sets look good, although if we're going to include the other three skeletal consort types, we'd probably want to throw in a few different moves in each of their sets to diversify them a bit. For the moment, it will work for a "generic" one. The Skeletal Imp also has very few special attacks, despite its equal attacking stats. It's a supportive wall more than anything, and it makes sense for it to be lower on attacks compared to status moves, but I'd consider throwing in Shadow Ball or something in there.
I like the Cherubs' sets, yeah. One thing I think we ought to take into account is that Calliope and Caliborn in their non-GT forms are capable of evolving into each other, possibly multiple times. So any moves we want to ensure are exclusive to one or the other should ideally be confined to their GT forms. I'm thinking Spore on Calliope should probably be kept away from Caliborn, if possible. Conversely, we could potentially choose to put a few moves into the regular forms' sets that would be equally-or-moreso useful for the other Cherub-- that might be fun. Anyways, the sets as they are now are good! I feel like Caliborn might take a bit too long to learn physical Fire moves, though. Flamethrower's good but I'd feel kind of awkward about relying on his weaker attack stat for half his STAB until level 70.
Liking the stone evos! I don't really see the "support" on Davesprite since he's mostly attacks aside from Tailwind, but all three sets look functional and fitting.
For Davesprite, I'd consider switching the level-up order of Flare Blitz and Brave Bird, as Flare Blitz is his main Move Relearner move. It seems like usually the moves that take longest to learn are more likely to be a relearner move. Also, it seems a little weird to have him still be capable of learning Blaze Kick by level-up, since he doesn't have feet anymore. If he carried the move over from regular Dave I'd understand that, but it seems a little odd to me for it to be placed right there in his natural level-up learnset.
For Jadesprite, I like the idea of giving her the potential for a mixed set, but I notice she doesn't have any decent physical Grass moves. Leaf Blade would be... a little weird flavor-wise for her, but it would provide her with the other physical STAB she's lacking.
I definitely prefer giving stone evolutions their own full level-up movesets. If there were as few of them as there were in regular Pokémon games, the reduced sets would be fine, but a good 40% or more of our fully-evolved Sburbmon evolve by stone. Not only that, but sometimes something evolves by stone and then evolves a second time later! I think for gameplay purposes, we should go ahead and just give regular movesets to them all.
