Woo, patch time. This is primarily a bugfix/cleanup patch, but there is a bit of new content to tide you over. I installed a new overworld palette system in this patch to fix the water reflection thing, and it may have the small side effect of making Hussie turn funky colours the first time you load from a savestate. Once you enter a building or cave everything will refresh and it shouldn't happen again. This next patch is going to be a doozy. It's going to require several complicated tilesets; One for LOTAK, LOMAX-themed routes, and Derse; as well as potential changes for the Casino/Felt Hideout. A fair amount of music as well. So far I'm thinking: Route theme for the areas around LOTAK/B2 Corner: Moonsetter Derse: Core of Darkness Either LOTAK or LOTAK Tower, not sure yet: Candles and Clockwork (Alpha) Need to think of another song for whichever one it isn't as well, or perhaps both can use it. Casino: Under the Hat/Trollcops? Felt Hideout: Not sure Comments/Suggestions? Here are some of the other things that need accomplishment for the next patch: Clean up trades:
Right now some of the early trades haven't been fixed, so I want to get those out of the way. Trade mon in the main towns should probably be somewhat unique, so here's what I'm thinking so far: Route 2, south of LOWAS: Salamander for a Con Air Bunny? It's John-related and not sure where else I'd want to put a bunny, considering how weak they are. House in LOLAR: Turtle for a Mutini? Pretty much the same deal as the bunny; fairly weak and pretty much the only other place I might put this would be in the lab. Route 11: Not sure for this one. Horsaponi maybe? What would you trade for it? A Tavros? Plan the rest of the Felt: Fin: Alpha equivalents of Trace. - Cronus - Dirk Die:- ?? - ?? Crowbar: - ?? - ??Stitch: Kanaya because seamstress. - Kanaya - ?? Sawbuck: High Def - Aradiabot - Horuss Matchsticks: Tanky Fire types - Ruby Giclops - Mituna Eggs:- ?? - ?? Biscuits:- ?? - ?? Quarters:- ?? - ?? Cans: High Atk/thematic - Dad - Equius Additionally, all these except Sawbuck and Crowbar need trainer sprites. Ok, so I've had some time the past couple of days and as a result I have a whole bunch of movesets! But before that, I have a couple of quick things to say first. First and Foremost is that I've been updating these movesets after a while on the BMC, so any moveset on the BMC that has a "Yes" is finished. Sometimes I make changes to my movesets and don't announce them (this is very rare), so Twix, could you just make sure the learnsets you have in-game are accurate? Feel free to take your time as there are a lot of learnsets done now. Related to this, Calioppe and Caliborn are now 100% complete as I didn't receive much further feedback, so I'm assuming people are happy with them. Same thing goes for Grimdark Rose, Jadesprite and Davesprite (I know for a fact that GT Dave is one of the ones I've edited without letting you guys know Twix. Just a minor thing.) The Skeletal Imp and Consort are also up. The second thing is a suggestion. It might be nice and/or useful for us to have a skype or discord group, on which we can just chat general stuff but also chat Sburbmon stuff. More frequent interactions with eachother would help get stuff sorted sooner I think. We would still keep the forum updated and stuff, but it was just a thought I had. The Third and final thing are some amended stats! I was working on the Midnight Crew's movesets today and noticed how boring their stats were. They just didn't seem to have any specialism of any kind, and I didn't like that, so I made some new stats. Theyre not hyper-specialised or anything, but they do have more specific roles now, which I think is an improvement. I also as a result made changes to Bec Noir, who now has a slightly lower BST. He's still fairly crazy on stats, but I feel like he's no longer as ridiculous as he was. New stats are in the spoiler below and provided people are happy with them, I'll update them on the BMC. I thought I'd clear out some of the Stone Evos, and so I've done all five Tricksters, DeadAradia and RoboAradia, in addition to the Midnight Crew including Jack's entire line. Links to all I've done are below. As always please let me know any feedback you have. First of all we have Aradia. Her Dead and Robo evolutions are fairly simple. They mostly just replace Fairy STAB moves for Ghost and Steel moves respectively. A few other misdoes were tweaked to be more thematically fitting too though. Next, the Tricksters! These were fun, and are very weird and kinda crazy sets. John and Dirk barely change, mostly just swapping out Some moves for Fairy STAB, on account of their stats not being all that different from their normal forms. The other three, on the other hand, take the ridiculously inflated stats of their Trickster forms and give them a moveset that is pretty much completely useless. Trickster Jane has all attacking moves (many of them physical), so her amazing HP goes to waste. Trickster Roxy has incredible special attack, so of course she is the opposite of Jane and has absolutely zero attacking moves besides Water Gun. And finally Trickster Jake's moveset consists almost entirely of moves which are either low priority or weak but high priority, so his blistering speed is barely an asset at all. It's worth noting that the Tricksters are definitely still usable, you just need to make sure their unevolved forms have the moves you want first, because their own learnsets do nothing for them. Kinda like how Pokémon stone evos just flat out don't give you new moves a lot of the time, so you need to wait until you have the moves you want. It's a fair trade-off for those stats I think. And finally, the Midnight Crew. There's not much to say here, other than that they have the usual thematically fitting moves combined with STAB moves. Clubs Deuce was especially fun though, and Hearts Boxcars HAD to have Guillotine considering the fate of every version of him seen in-comic has been a beheading.

I agree, a chat group would be nice. Would everyone be alright with Discord? It's got web support and such, so you don't even have to download the client if you don't want to. Thanks for the movesets, they look good to me. But I've never been very good at critiquing gameplay aspects. I'll put those in and run along the BMC to make sure everything there is accurate and up-to-date as well.

Anyway, for the Felt hideout, what about Hollow SUit or something else from the drawing dead album? Could have something good for the casino as well. I downloaded the version from the first page and from what I've seen you've been doing a great job with this. I tried using a Robostone I found in the horse cave on my Rufioh but it wouldn't let me do that, while it worked on Aradia just fine. Any idea why?

I suggest to replace the generic NPC models with random carapacians of all sorts. The same thing could be done with trainers. That or make them OCs that people send in...
Also, an actual question, will there be different options for evolutions in this? Such as the ancestors being harder to obtain third levels to trolls, like Kankri and the other Dancestors, that can be chosen instead of god tiers. If this were the case, there could also be third options that have odd ways of being obtained. For example, with gamzee there could be God tier, Dream self, and sober form. For someone like Eridan it would be God tier, Dream Self, and sprite form.

We're actually planning on having all the normal NPC's changed. I think some of the classes we hav epicked out for them our shipper, cosplayer, electrologist, that sort of thing.
There are multiple evolutions for a lot of mons, but not everyone has them. For instance, Eridan can evolve into GT Eridan or Erisol Sprite, Roxy can evolve into GT Roxy, Trickster Roxy or Mom Lalonde. Those are some of the more complex ones though, there are plenty, like Gamzee for instance that just go GrubGamzee -> Gamzee -> GT Gamzee.
Taking a quick look, all the kids have 3 evolutions (GT form, Scratched form and one other depending), 7 of the original trolls have multiple evolutions and 5 do not.
Most of the other characters have simpler evolution paths that just go in order.

As for the trainers thing I suggested, I may have gotten a bit ahead of myself. I posted even though I knew there were already cases of trainers being replaced, and what I had suggested would've involved the overwriting of them, which would've just been entirely ineffecient.
And it's good to here that there are (or will be) multiple end evolutions to (What I assume) a good chunk of the Sburbmon. Is there a wiki or walkthrough to help out with evolutions? or is it a trial and error thing?
Regarding evolution, do any of the imps have evolutions? or are they all stuck at one form?

Thanks for that. Helped me out greatly. I also decided to look at the checklist and noticed Mewtwo was undecided. What I'm going to suggest is simply an idea, and one that may not be that good in the first place, but maybe it'll spark something. Since you're able to basically enslave trolls, humans, and other things as Sburbmon in this, wouldn't it make sense for this to work on anyone?
The idea I have in mind is to have Doc Scratch obtainable as the MewTwo replacement and provide an evolution into Lord English. This is obviously stupid, seeing as they already have their own place in the game as Professor and Champion, but i'm just seeing how this would work if it were to happen. I think that if you were to replace MewTwo with Doc Scratch, you would keep the same stats but change the moveset into something more fitting of him. Detect is an obvious choice with his omniscience. But the interesting idea I had in mind would to be to have Doc Scratch set to level 1, even with these powerful stats. As he would level up, he would only ever increase in stats every 1/30 of the next 99 levels, as the normal mewtwo has 30 levels till 100. Once he reaches 100, then he could Evolve into Lord English. I just think that this would be an interesting way to have it, as Doc Scratch is his 'host' and Lord English, as powerful as he is, would take quiet a long time to obtain if ever.
Hopefully this at least helps give ideas for who could take MewTwo's place.

Hey, would you like some help on it? I noticed the battle sprites (or at least in the patch i have here) are a bit messy. I've done sprites for a game once (the guy never finished the game, tho). It was fun and they were pretty good. Got dem tips, if ya want =3 Also, the game is great!!! I think it would be cool to change the random npcs on centers to dersites and prospitians. (sorry for taking your time =3)

We could always use sprites we don't have, but you also mentioned existing sprites. Which battle sprites look messy to you exactly?

I downloaded the patch from there thinking it was the most updated one, but now I have completed the 3.0.2 rom only now knowing I was using the wrong one the whole time. Side note- can I update the file if I repatch the new IPS file onto the old ROM? Or do I need to use a fresh version and lose my data?

When I change versions I patch the new IPS over a fresh ROM, so I'm not sure if patching over a patched ROM can screw things up. Your progress in the game is stored in your .sav file, or in your savestates, so patching a new ROM and replacing the old one (make sure the new ROM has the same name as the save file or the savestate you're using) shouldn't affect your data.

The Tumblr page can be a little grumpy, sometimes it doesn't save updates to the pages... Sorry about that, I'll get it fixed right away. And regarding patches, as long as you apply the new patch to a clean rom (not over the old one) and just update the GBA file, it shouldn't mess anything up. As Nubaris said your actual save file is in the .sav (or .sgm files if you use savestates) and should never be lost.
And yes, fluffy8uns, we're always free to accept sprites, so if you'd like to contribute go right ahead!
