Howdy friends to the VERY FIRST OMEGAUPDATE FORUMS U4G CONTEST: OMEGA EDITION! "What the heck is U4G?", you ask? Well, may I suggest moseying on over to this image-link: It's a thread where people can leave adventure ideas for anyone else to use, leaving them "Up For Grabs" or U4G for short! So the contest is: start a new forum adventure using an idea from the U4G thread, after the adventures run for 4 weeks I'll assemble a team of secret judges all wearing powdered white wigs and the best adventure's author will win a bunch of fan art (or "f-art") from the losers! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAContest Rules: * Sign-up begins NOW! And will be open for a week and a half, until midnight Sunday 17th July. * To sign up, simply comment here with which idea you'll be using from the U4G thread. * You are not allowed to use more than one idea from the thread. * Please use the [U4G] tag at the front of your title so it's easier to identify. * All new adventures will start on or as near as possible to the same date: July 22nd. * After 4 weeks, we'll check which adventures are still active, and a secret panel of judges will choose a winner! If every single adventure becomes inactive before then (hopefully not) the judges will judge the 3 adventures with the most updates. Please note: You can still continue your adventure after the contest finishes, please don't rush it so you "finish" in the month! Heh, sorry, but the reason why you should say the prompt you're going to use is so other people don't accidentally pick it We've had multiple people pick the same idea in previous contests! For that matter there was never a push to use newer ideas either. I don't see why using ideas achieved on the reddit should be discouraged (as you mentioned in the other thread) either. (Heck, one of the reasons I haven't posted much in the new U4G thread is that all of my best ideas are already present on the reddit.) |

That doesn't seem fair to me Edit: For that matter there was never a push to use newer ideas either. We've had multiple people pick the same idea in previous contests! I wanted to change a few things up this year. I mean, what if one adventure was more popular than its counterpart(s)? That doesn't seem fair to me I'm not seeing why that would be any worse than a difference in popularity of two adventures using different ideas. |

I think the more important thing is that it breeds competition between those two specifically, and risks unsportsmanship. Plus, it sacrifices variety, which is the point of this event. |

What do you mean? Are you asking if you can use an idea from the U4G thread without entering the contest? If so, then yes, you can I meant a original idea without entering the contest. Yes, you can always start an adventure at any time, using any idea (original or U4G) - It's just that the ones in the U4G Contest are to start at the same time, so that they have a fair window to be judged in. Go ahead Thoran, if you have something you want to do, feel free. The contest is not compulsory. |
